I would have to say that most of the centres will reamin open for quite some time. There are several factors that will contribute to this. 1. Cingular does not currently have enough reps of their own to handle double the call volume if not more. You cant just take the reps who were previously handling 24 million customers and ask them to take on 46 million. It wont happen, you'll have unhappy custs and ...

Yeah, we'll charge 39.99 per visit, but if we have to take out more than 5 pieces of shrapnel its a buck a piece.

Thanks, I think I'll probably still keep posting here for a while till I'm completely weaned from wireless but I can say for sure that I will never take another job in the wireless industry unless it happens to be fixing up people who have been wounded by CDMA call shrapnel.

I cant beleive how boring today is, it's my last day with AWS and in wireless ever and I cant even get a customer who wants to argue, I'm just getting ones with IQ's of 12 that are frustrating me to death.

HA HA HA HA HA, you should post more often, youre a funny guy, TDMA is based on 850 only, and I'm John Zeglis, CEO of AT&T wireless. Come on thinkl about it, if TDMA was 850 only then why do all aT&T TDMa phone work on AMPS, TDMA 800 (AKA 850) and TDMA 1900. Not convinced, let me list the first 5 market that use TDMA 1900 alphabetically, Albequrque, Atlanta, Boston, Bridgeport, Buffalo. It goes ...

Yeah that's what I thought but the I heard someone saying that they all expired at the years end so minutes accrued for Dec would expire Dec 31 at midnight which doesnt make sense

Rollover Minutes
Jul 3, 2004, 12:01 PM
in the AT&T forum

I'm trying to clear up one of the rules that applies to rollover minutes. Do the minutes expire 1 year from when they are originally earned or do you lose all minutes accrued after a one year period?

Re: upgrade questions?? (former SunCom'er+3360)
Jul 3, 2004, 11:39 AM

You dont actually lose all the minutes at the end of the year as I understand it. From what I've been told the only minutes you lose are the ones that it's been one year since they were actually accrued.

You make rollover sound so good here, seems to me that if you are rolling over 50-150 minutes per month then you are paying for 50-150 minutes too many per month, and if you are consistently doing it then youre most likely not to ever need the minutes youve rolled over.

Hmm, now lets see, smaller size, same features, slightly heavier but with a longer battery life, and oh yeah, the screen doesnt invert itself at random or show garbled graphics. Yup definitely a major downgrade here, compared to the 3360 a 1260 looks like an upgrade, I have never had more problems with any single phone on a personal or professional basis than the 3360. That includes the moto V60 series which mainly tends to have user ...

Yet it has the exact same features, minus the infrared, and has a nifty blue screen that's much easier to read.

Ok, so is this a grudge against moto or a grudge against flip phones. I can sort of agree with you on moto, I think this could be solved however by requiring someone to have an IQ of at least 115 to buy a moto. And yes, I know this would disqualify 90% of buyers who get it because "that there phone shor is purdy lookin, now ain't it isabella".

Re: How long before cingular takes over?
Jul 1, 2004, 11:11 PM

I dont understand why Cingular would have to tailor their plans to match AT&T's lower prices, from what Marcus states Cingular plans to simply integrate all of AT&T's currently offered plans as part of their plan portfolios. This would leave all customers with the choice as to which plans they want and the plans would sort of compete with each other but all benefit one company. If for instance the customer wanted rollover minutes they might have ...

I can definitely agree with the points you raise here. As for the issue of reps not knowing coverage I cannot speak for Verizon, but without divulging proprietary info I can tell you that AT&T does have and continues to improve and expand a mapping tool that allows for reps to simply input a street adress and instantly have a fairly good breakdown of signal strength, vooice quality, dropped calls and interference.

Umm just one thing, a 2260 isnt a downgrade a 3360, it actually has more features including polyphonic ringtones. Remember, Nokia's numbering scheme makes little to no sense at the best of times, a higher number doesnt men a better phone or one would be led to beleive a 5160 is better that a 3360.

True, but they also prevent a negative customer experience from having to go through the aforesaid scenario. If the customer has a negative experience such as this where they are forced to pay for calls that in their eyes they shouldnt have, albeit the charges may truly be legit, the customer is most likely to churn. Now losing subscribers to silly incidences like this can also affect our profitability negatively. Less customers equals less profit, so ...

Maoto A845, dual camera (still and video). Capable of placing video calls when in UMTS coverage. Also GSM 900, 1800, and 1900 capable. Fairly short battery length but overall looks to be a good phone, should be able to pull up if you search it here.

At least the end of the year, right now there has been absolutely no official regulatory approval for the merger so legally they have to operate as 2 seperate companies. If and when it does go through you will have plenty of warning, you will get at least one letter a minimum of 1 month in advance to advise you of the new options/ opportunities available to you when Cingular takes over. This letter should give you ...

That's quite the loaded question. From a CSR position I'd have to say you're being a bit harsh. Because an issue is reported in a system and is available for someone within the company's structure to access, it doesn't necessarily make it a known issue. I'll give an example here from my experience within AT&T. There was an issue with a certain production run on the Nokia 8260 series phones with a shield in the ...

Jun 25, 2004, 12:34 PM

I couldnt tell you for sure but they will most likely come once they gobble up AWS. Why would they spend the money to build infrastructure and buy licences in areas where they will be aquiring them in a few short months. They may build out new towers in outlying areas where neither carrier has towers but I doubt you'll see them double up in existing areas. If you want Cingular service youd probably have to ...
