It's as good as any sprint Direct Connect phone is going to be, just louder speaker. Honestly try it, and if you have issues call the airrave department and they will send you a free signal booster.
The Walkie will not be as good as Nextel in its hey day. People just have to accept that.

I don't know why people are saying that Moment owners are going to be dissapointed with the phone. Dude, they are in a 2 year contract, none of them are up for renewal anytime soon. This phone is Samsung smartly aiming for customers who want a good 3G phone without paying the extra $$ for 4G, and Samsung not so smartly cutting costs and not having it have modern 3G. Really Samsung?
