Re: Media question
Alright! Good to hear you dropped that iPhone.
Re: Screen Orientation
No Android phone can do this out of the box... you either have to download a different home interface, or Root the device. Which is why I asked above if anyone had this thing rooted yet.
Root Access?
Biggest question of all - anybody running this thing with root access?
Re: Can anyone tell me which Android phones CANNOT be rooted?
Yes, I went with the myTouch 3G 1.2. Needed that headphone jack and better battery life brother. I still have my G1 as well though.
Re: Another chink in Apple's armor
I just think that it's unfair for people who paid all that money for the supposed Latest and greatest and they still get the shaft. Steve Jobs just says "Sorry, no." That's comedy, glad I'm not one to hop on bandwagons.

Re: Well...
I think that everyone in this forum has strayed from the point. That apple gives you crappy hardware, sticks you with it, then brings out "New and Improved" versions that look the same, and the first gen buyers get to grab their ankles.
Android brings the updates right to your device.
So... another reason to get Android. Of any of the many types.
Re: Can anyone tell me which Android phones CANNOT be rooted?
Tried it! I get a lot of fluff, but it's all good because I got another phone I could root.
Re: iPhones are compared...
Werner saved me from typing a paragraph, thanks buddy!
Re: "It'll just be the same ignorant sheep following the masses"
HAHA wow, funny that you have your 32 GB for your iphone, and all my apps are on a memory card which is *gasp* INTERCHANGABLE without the help of Apple. I'll take my Android where I have the option to change battery and memory capacity as I please. Enjoy your lamephone.
Re: ANDRIOD Vs. iphone..
That's their goal. To monopolize the cell phone market, when they themselves are new to it. And it's funny because if you dig, someone has done all of the things the iPhone does before apple even came out with it. Of course though, not all in one phone.
Re: Amazing how....
Sure. But all trends die.
Re: "It'll just be the same ignorant sheep following the masses"
Agreed. The Android OS isn't at fault for Dev's putting in faulty apps.
Re: "It'll just be the same ignorant sheep following the masses"
Oh yeah. I feel like as time goes along, the Android devices get better and better.
Re: look at their quarterly numbers-
It's going to vary depending on usage as with everything else.
Re: look at their quarterly numbers-
Sure, but who uses more than a couple hundred?
Re: lame phone for lame network!!
Agreed. Plus Apple is quickly becoming a nuisance releasing the same phone every year with one or two "tweaks". And then they sue anyone with a touchscreen. LOL comedy.
Re: "It'll just be the same ignorant sheep following the masses"
Because it truly would! People buying those devices only do so because it's the in thing to do! I'd just like to point out that there are always going to clever marketing out there for both sides in big competitions. E.g.: AT&T vs. Verizon, iPhone vs. Everything else. People are TOLD that the iPhone is the fastest, best, yadda yadda yadda. I like my rooted G1 better than the iPhone I had. I'm not stuck with the same memory ...
Re: Yukari Iwatani Kane also said the iPad would be on VZW....
LOLOL That's hilarious.
Re: Amazing how....
Oh, and iPhone has had Much, Much more marketing than Androids have. And the fact that IT only has one OS means all applers are the same. BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNNNNNG.
Re: Amazing how....
True. But that's because right now iPhone is the "cool" thing to do. Which automatically makes it lame in my mind.
Way to go iPhone!
Release on two more networks, and you've caught the Android phones as far as being on ALL networks.
Can anyone tell me which Android phones CANNOT be rooted?
I'm looking to get another phone because my rooted G1 is awesome, but the battery sux and there isn't a headphone jack. Want the Nexus, but can't afford it on my current contract. So, I've got it narrowed down to myTouch3G, or the Cliq XT. But the ability to have root access is a must. Does anyone have a list of Androids that do NOT have root capability?
Thanks in advance
S.M.
Re: Rooting my g1...
Depending on the ROM you go for, there are speed differences. I enjoy the SUPER D roms with Ram hack. Refuse to use anything else.
Re: ANDRIOD Vs. iphone..
I agree with ViperGuy. I feel like iPhone is another trend that will eventually go away. Because let's face it. You buy an iPhone, and you're stuck with the same memory capacity, that same internal battery, and a high price to pay when the next iPhone comes out a year later. Plus, you're stuck on AT&T. (Boo!) Also, I feel a rooted Android phone outperforms the iPhone any day of the week. Now with phones like Nexus, it's going ...
Any Cliq users have root access yet?
I need to figure out whether I'm going with this or the new myTouch 1.2... (I have a rooted G1 now, and not only is the battery life terrible, but it's big, and lacks headphone jack... but otherwise awesome) issue is that if I can't root this phone, it's a NO-GO for sure. Anyone able to root this thing? Also, can anyone give me a comparison of the battery life between this an G1?
I just want to make ...
Can someone give more information on myTouch 1.2?
It seems that the original myTouch is all that is discussed in the forums... trying to figure out whether to get this or Cliq XT because I need a headphone jack and my rooted G1 (as awesome as it is) is no longer cuttin' the mustard. Also, can anyone give an idea of the Battery life in comparison to G1?
Thanks in advance guys. :)
