It only matters if the carrier you will use it on will allow you to use it. So many carriers will unlock your phone so you can possibly use it with another carrier but, they will not allow a phone that is not their brand, i.e. doesn't have their label on it.

Carriers still don't have to allow on their network

Unlocking the device is great. You feel free to unlock your device so you can take it with you to another carrier after you spen several houndred dollars for the phone. Once you get to your new carrier you find that they will not allow it on their network. Just because it is not illegal to unlock a phone does not mean a carrier has to allow it to be used on their network. And most will not. They will tell ...

It seems that Apple cannot compete against Android on the open market that they must sue everyone for every little idea they claim they invented, and will not stop until they achieve total and complete World Domination of the Smartphone and Tablet Market.

That is my point exactly. USCC used to charge an equipment change fee every time someone did an esn chage on their account. That was a $15 charge to select Add ESN activate and Deactivate ESN. USCC doesnot do that any more. They do charge an activation fee but not to put a new phone on your existing account.

USCC does not charge a upgrade fee either. I dont understand what cost they are talking about that would require an upgrade fee. It takes only a few seconds and a few clicks of the mouse to ad a phone to someones account. I wish I could get paid $18 to $30 to type in a number and collect a payment.

Usually they return the device on a 30day satisfaction guarantee and get something simpler. I also have an individual who got a smartphone for business because their colleagues use them, an they come in once every 2 weeks to have us add their new contacts and help them find their E-Mail. Then the same colleagues told her she could use her smartphone as a WiFi hotspot to teather her laptop. (Smacks Forehead)

Apple created the competition they are encountering with the Android platform and the so called I-Phone killer Galaxy II. When they put all their eggs into the AT&T network and mad it an Exclusive AT&T product they did not foresee Verizon as being a larger carrier that they and other carriers would want to stop Churn by asking other vendors for a device that would compete with the I-Phone. In the past the only competition was Windows and BlackBerry and everyone ...

It is no benifit to them to buy USCC. USCC used their system to roam on and they are already in most of the same areas that USCC is in. so where would be the benifit? they would be only purchasing 6.1million customers.
