Speaking for myself here, I never compared/contrasted Sprint with other carriers. At the end of the day, every cell carrier is essentially the same in their policies, business models and procedures. My point was that Sprint seems to launch numerous programs that either unnecessary (Ready Now) or are later retracted because they cost the company too much money (Sprint Premier).

is 100% correct. There seems to be some kind of deliberate move to ruin Sprint from the inside through bad management. It's literally one useless and incomprehensible promotion or program after another with them. I work for a preferred retailer for Sprint, so my policies and procedures differ from theirs, but I honestly don't know if I could stand to work at a corporate store. Sprint Direct connect? Biz 360? Promising unlimited data to customers indefinitely? Just wait till ...

The GS2 is a great handheld computer, but it has really lame reception. The Motorola Photon probably has the best reception out of all Sprint smartphones.

I feel your pain, man. Our store (indirect) is strictly sales and will probably never get a repair center. If the customer brings us lots of business and is well-liked, my manager or I will call Tech and fight for an Advanced Exchange for them. Beyond that, it's off to Little Rock for them. We used to have a direct number to the AE department (8775074287) but Sprint, in their infinite wisdom, disabled it. I guess helping customers is ...

With a one-year upgrade, Sprint (or any place that sells Sprint phones) will only give you $75 off of the retail cost of a device. Many devices retail for $400 and up. You're better off looking on ebay.

No kidding. Sprint, in my opinion, totally dropped the ball on advertising for the device. I think most people went to Best Buy/Radioshack to get it instead of my store. Plus, we only got 10 4S's.

Anyone familiar with Budget Mobile/gov't phones?
Oct 11, 2011, 11:39 AM
in the Sprint forum

Budget Mobile is an MVNO that purports to offer "free" cellphone service (via federal assistance) to low-income customers who are also on other Federal aid programs. Some of you may be familiar with it. It's a complete scam. My complaint with this company (if it can be called that) is regarding their questionable customer service information. I work for a Sprint Preferred retailer. Several times a week, people visit our store who have been told to activate their Sprint-branded Budget ...

Any Sprint reps here ever spent an hour setting up a customer's account, applying discounts and educating on phones/price plans, only to have them tell you they're going to buy the phones at Radio Shack/Best Buy/Wal-Mart? I work at a Sprint Preferred Retailer, so I'm technically *supposed* to help them even after they buy the phone elsewhere, but the temptation to tell them to get lost is great. Especially since I rely on that commission to feed my family. ...

Yeah, and your garden variety idiot seems to think they're called 'SIMS' cards. Or course, I hear plenty of stupid things in my Sprint store. "Evo 4 Gig". "Touch tone phones" (they mean touch screen when they say that but seem to prefer touch tone). "UBS cable". "Do ya'll have them HT phones?" (They mean HTC, but they like to ignore that pesky third consonant.) "Why are ya'll getting the i4/i5?" (They can't even seem to name the competition's products properly; my ...

when carriers/manufacturers begin developing apps that can only run on their Android phones? This situation may have been discussed here previously, been given the state of Android and its increasing fragmentation, I would like to hear some thoughts on this issue. The reason I've been thinking about this stems from my own company (Sprint's) decision to install Sprint ID on a few of their smartphones. It seems like the next logical step is for some companies to create apps that ...

Re: Just got the Evo 3D at my store
Jun 23, 2011, 12:25 PM
in the Sprint forum

Correct--there is a 3D Youtube app as well as a portal for 3D games. If you sell these things for a living, I strongly recommend that you allow the customer to play with the device and experience its 3D features before you make the sale. The 3D effect, while optional, is slightly disorientating. If they're too turned off by it, they may end up wanting to get the original Evo, which will drop to $99 the day the 3D ...

You'll have to start paying the fee as soon as you upgrade to any smartphone. Sprint began this on January 31.

Re: Motorola XPRT

We just got one in today. The keyboard is almost exactly like the Blackberry Bold, which means it's excellent, but there's also a surprisingly accurate on-screen keyboard that can be accessed in landscape mode. Beyond that, it's quite responsive (owing to the 1 gig processor and Android 2.2) but the interface is quite ugly. Uglier than TouchWiz, even. If I bought one, I'd put ADW/Launcher Pro on it immediately.

The only smartphone that voids the fee is the Samsung Replenish, which is an excellent device, but not quite on par with the Optimus S. I compare the two because the Optimus Slider will likely be constructed using the same materials as the S, which is a surprisingly well-built phone.

I work at a 3rd party Sprint store (United Cellular). An couple entered my store today and expressed their desire to terminate one of the lines on their account which was still in contract (ETF $180) and immediately add a new line with a Data 450 plan and an HTC Evo. I was happy to add a new line for them and thoroughly went over all the ramifications of terminating a line. They understood and asked me to set it ...

For the money, the LG Optimus S is hands-down the best Android phone you can get with Sprint. It isn't 4G capable, but for $20 you can get a solid phone with excellent battery life, great reception, surprisingly solid construction and a snappy processor. In other words, it's fast and reliable. It runs Android 2.2 (which allows it to be used as a wireless hotspot) and is likely going to receive the 2.3 update soon. Source: I'm a Sprint rep who ...

The Shift is the superior phone. It's running Android 2.2. HTC Sense is a superior UI to TouchWiz. And the hardware is superior, in my opinion. The rep's facts were a little skewed, but it's still the better device of the two. Source: I'm a Sprint sales rep.

I personally recommend a Sprint Store. They'll assist you with any issues you may have with the phone. Best Buy is a contract mill. They'll sell you a phone, but from there you're on your own unless you pay the Geek Squad some major dough to get it fixed. That, or they'll just send you to the nearest Sprint Store to get it fixed...a major annoyance for a Sprint rep like myself.

Let's hope not. Kyocera/Sanyo are like the Dollar Store of cell phones. That said, the quality will probably suck and it will be riddled with issues which I as a Sprint rep will be forced to fix. We'll see how it performs before I sell any of them.
