Just be advised that it's not eligible for coverage under insurance (lockline) and if you have warranty related issues with it, you will have to get in touch w/ Audiovox to resolve. Warranty exchange doesn't handle the SMT 5600.

Main downfall that I could see is that someone could rack up huge charges then just walk away. Then again... they could do that now and be liable for the charge plus etf. Hm, I dunno. Sounds like a good plan from a consumer standpoint...

If you are on AT&T Wireless with a GSM plan, you would only need to stick your sim card in and go... presuming this phone is ATTWS. If you are currently on TDMA, you would need to migrate your service to GSM in order to use your phone.

I'm guessing the reason that you're not very busy is that good customers can't get what they perceive to be a decent deal on a new phone. *shrugs* The phone that I want, T-Mobile sells for $200. I can get the upgraded model of that phone at Cingular for less than $100.

Well... the phone uses 1900 mhz only. Perhaps you are in an 850 mhz only area? Do you currently have GSM service?
I show them available on attwireless.com... in my area. Might try looking at the phones and selecting "audiovox" from the dropdown list.

Try telling that to the res desk. We deal with them every single day. I hear "I have escalation. Customer is irated." I get on the line and the customer is asking about their rate plan and I have to xfer to care. Um, yeah. I never ever get calls like this from US reps.
We get calls from customers who had exchanges done on physically damaged equipment ...

Hm, depends on her phone. Being in a technical background, I might think that perhaps her phone is now not reading one of the signal frequencies available to her (if she has both 850 and 1900 mhz on her phone). So now, rather than seeing ATTWS towers, she is reading off of Cingular towers of the frequency she has left?
