compared to LG 4500 & Moto. E815 ?

info needed: I've loved my LG 4500, but many near- dead spots despite nearby towers ("facing the wrong way" verizon tells me). Is the LG 4650 or the 8100 any more sensitive ? Some vzn staff say try the Moto.E815, but it's missing some of my favorite features that the LG's have. They also tell me analog isn't going to help in Charlotte N.C. area, just need slightly more sensitive reception. Not needing a camera, vcr, etc. Any comparisons ...

very simple, you can program it as your default for all calls by hitting : menu, settings (9), sounds (1), ringers (1), { any one of, all three of "caller id", "no caller id", and / or "restrict (1,2,and/or 3 - but only one at a time ) then just scroll down to 'saints' and hit "OK" you can ...

To change colors for an incoming call, or for an alert or a reminder: Go to Settings (9) , Display (2), Status LED Colors (7), Incoming Calls(1) , then just chose your preferred color ("dynamic" means it keeps changing). Enjoy your new 'rainbow'. :)

Re: Speaker Problem

:) Glad it worked out. I've used the speakerphone for most of the 25 + hours / month that I'm on the phone, for the past year, and only once did the speaker blow. I only wish my computer was this reliable. Since the Verizon folks fixed the problem immediately, I'd say: enjoy and don't worry. ...

keep the faith, i've had several of these 4500's for various reasons (did you know they're not meant for swimming  ) anyway, only on one did i blow the speaker, and verizon quickly replaced it, no questions asked. so, keep lovin this phone.

:) Improved feature of V4: under version 2, a "scheduled event" could be edited by everything EXCEPT the date, which was a major bummer for me. This has been fixed now. note: the "schedule" feature has been moved from hitting the "7", to "8", properly under "TOOLS".

are you sure you checked all the possibilities? after adding a new 'contact', you get to choose from about 30. try "ring # 1,2, or 3" for the old fashioned sound of a simple ringer, or you may like scrolling down to "chimes" (high or low). "notify" and "ding" are pretty basic too. hope this helps. pete

:) I'm a huge fan of my LG-4500, as are my 3 closest friends (see my review, it still stands). I've never tried the 4600, but one of my favorite features is the speakerphone, great for added volume, and when in the car. Also, you don't want to be without the voice dialing, for both names or numbers.

Re: Driving Mode
Oct 11, 2004, 10:39 PM
in the LG VX-4500 forum

If you leave the phone open, while in the driving mode, it will first announce the name or number of the caller, and then "do you want to answer : yes or no". As long as you have set the backlight to turn off after 30 seconds or less, no problem of battery drain. I use self adhesive velcro, and stick it onto my visor in the open position. It's a great feature, ...

don't know why you're having this problem, as my 4500 always comes up in T9 format. (just wish i could keep it in all capital letters). if verizon tech. can't help, call LG @ 800 243-0000, or 800 793-8896. :)

I live in Charlotte, NC, and have visited family in Great Neck, LI, and NYC often. No problems, this is the best reception, and overall phone I've used in the past 10 years. Enjoy it. My impression is this phone has been severely overcritised by lots of the reviewers.

I found the same problem, and agree with most of the way to solve it, EXCEPT, I'm a believer in being assertive. I'll be calling both L.G. and Verizon next week and suggest they made an oversight, requesting they revert to the successful method utilized in Software Version I. Also, I'll ask they consider a way to set the speakerphone to remain as such when set, and to see if they can improve ...

just enter the number you'll want to be recognized by the voice command first. it doesn't matter if it's a home, work, fax, pager, etc. it only matters which you enter first. do it correctly the on the onset, and you won't have to delete anything. i think LG's method makes sense. :)

Speaker Lock ???
Feb 27, 2004, 1:38 AM
in the LG VX-4500 forum

Has anyone found a way to lock the speaker setting in the 'ON' position for all calls ? Sometimes the speaker stays on in between calls, and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried pushing "OK" after hitting the speaker ON, but it reverts periodically. Is my phone just stubborn, or is this a glitch ?

Re: VX4500 Portable Car Mount
Feb 23, 2004, 10:02 PM
in the LG VX-4500 forum

After a fairly extensive search, I decided the visor was the best placement, both convenient, and the closest possible distance between my ears and mouth, to the phone. My solution was to use self adhesive velcro on the back of the phone and on the visor. Works great!!! (I'm lucky in that my visor has a plastic 'warning' on the otherwise cloth visor so the velcro sticks well to it) . If that doesn't ...

i think i can help: when editing your vm, if you change the setting from "123" (see this in the bottom right corner of screen) by hitting the right soft key, to "abc", then the '8' key (for "T") that will add a "timed (2 seconds) pause. let me know if this works for you. :) pete

Possible answer to your concern re: volume changes. Using the "jump" feature, go to " L.G. 4500". Then go to the 'forum' page, and check out the entry from "modamnway", dated Friday, Jan.30, at 7:47 p.m. Lots of good info from other users there too, and you might want to continue your observations/ reviews on that page, as there's seems to be more activity there. I'm looking forward to ...
