based on what? If you read the article, the only two other companies that matter already got rid of 2 year contracts. It may upset some people but things aren't different anywhere else.

While i agree that those things are options (and i may or may not use as well :) ), you have to look at it from the business side. If you are blocking ads, you are cutting down on the revenue stream for both content makers/musicians and the host (google). In order for them to recapture that revenue stream they need to implement a subscription based service - which is what they did. The whole reason prices go up ...

At some point they will HAVE to run out of money to pay for everyone's ETF. What they are doing now seems like a "hail mary" pass to try to jump start the people switching again. I give them credit for trying but the way they are going about it doesn't seem sustainable.

there's already apps out there like Kik and LiveProfile that are inter-operating system chat applications that mimic BBM already. there are more than just those 2 apps too. my text messaging usage has dropped since i started using these. perhaps this move IS a way to mitigate the losses from people moving away from standard text messaging, but i bet they'll have some sort of text package to use as a "save" for retention purposes. just a guess.

exactly. i don't know why this should anger anyone. when i am given my company phone i have to agree that it is used for work communication and all said communications and usage can be monitored if the company so chooses.as well as anything on the phone stays the property of the company. i.e. if i take pics with it and they fire me, they don't "owe" me those pics. pretty plain black and white stuff here.
