I don't understand how this is news to people now...when you sign a contract, you get a discount...if you want a different phone, you can't just sign another contract

Old ATT Plans
Apr 24, 2008, 5:19 PM
in the AT&T forum

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep an old ATT plan (from before the Cingular merger)? I was dealing with a customer earlier that had an old ATT America plan with free nights @ 7, 900 anytime, free M2M and Free Weekends for $45 for the primary and $20 for the secondary ($65 MRC). Well none of the current ATT offerings come even close, but in order for them to upgrade their handsets, they ...

Helio going under?
Sep 2, 2007, 10:30 AM
in the Helio forum

Is Helio still going strong? Or are they going to go the way of Amp'd? Last I heard the initial $1/2 billion investment will be used up at the end of the year, earthlink pledged another $100 million but only gave something like $30 million, and they laid off 80% of their sales force...I dont know but it doesn't look good...anyone have any information?

Business sales w/ verizon
Aug 4, 2006, 9:17 AM
in the Verizon forum

Hello everybody...just a few questions. I'm in the interview process with an agent for Verizon doing business sales called Wireless Zone. I was wondering if any of you could give me some feedback on this company and Verizon (I come from a T-Mobile background, and currently work at a retail that sells tmo cing and spint/nextel). It is a franchise owned by a few guys, so I wouldn't be working for Verizon directly. It's also 100% commission.Has anyone ...

i've used it and its about as accurate as the brocure...the only thing i do like about it is that it gives you the status of the towers so you can see if a tower is down in your area...thats pretty cool

I guess Kellogs and Sprint got together and made an addition $75 mail-in-rebate off phones (with and MSRP of 299.99 or higher) for new and exsisting customers... so if you're ready to sign up with sprint, go get some frosted flakes...hope this helps someone

Sorry I'm just reading through this and I want to say that this situation sucks. I dont work for t-mobile (used to back in the day) but in their defense, of all the other companies out there their customer care is usually on point....anyways, I really wanted to comment on the "we're not connected to CC" that the instore rep told you. I get this a lot. I work for an authorized dealer and just because ...

The new plan is going to be something like that altell plan where you can choose 5 phone numbers and they are unlimited free calls...pretty cool :) ...at least thats what my sources tell me. The kid plan is cool... 50 anytime minutes, unlimited M2M and unlimited Weekends for 19.99 with the ability to add minutes using the t-mobile ToGo refill cards. Can be applied to any phone.

Every customer that comes in with that bs story about how they "know for a fact" that they didnt get it wet and demand a new phone needs to take a lesson from this guy...just rip off the manufacturer...I'm all for it, screw those guys. Telephia drives around certain metro areas, rates wireless carriers (not against eachother, but rather analyizes the networks reliability) then sells their findings back to the carriers so they can see where they might be having problems. Here's an article from the boston globe... http://www.boston.com/business/ar ticles/2006/04/23/the_fewest_dropped_calls/ ..but I guess if a comic book character told me that cingular has the "fewest dropped calls", its almost as credible and the advertising campaign they have right now....almost :D

CINGULAR REPS, know what really grinds my gears...
May 26, 2006, 10:16 AM
in the AT&T forum

Cingular now has the "fewest dropped calls" according to an independent company called Telephia. Two things bother me about this... 1) Telephia is a company that drives around with specialized equipment that basically makes hundreds of calls and evaluates the strenghts and weakness of wireless networkss throughout the main metro areas. This is then sold back to the carriers where they can say "ok we're having some troubled spots here...and here", then they fix them. I guess ...

question for you sprint/nextel reps...

I have a customer who activated a line on the sprint CDMA network last week...well, it turns out they dont have good coverage at their house, BUT they know the Nextel phones work out there. Whats the policy for the 14 day trial period when it deals with switching from CDMA to iDEN? ie, will they have to start a new account, or can it be converted easily? Thanks :)

Its just one more example of the government intruding into private lives. In all honesty, if they were to evesdrop on me, they would know that I'm either on my way to work, heading to the bar or ordering a pizza...but still, thats my private life...big brother's watching (well listening), read 1984 and you'll understand

Cingular's network has the least number of dropped calls because Cingular said so...does anyone know who this "independent, third-party tester"?! Screw cingular, I'm signing up for Voce...at least I know their coverage is good because they said so too http://cingular.mediaroom.com/index.ph p?s=press_releases&item=1442 If anyone can find where the independent person is who did this test, let me know...is it Telaphia??

Now I've ranked these based on my experiences...Sprint and T-Mobile are probably tied...they both work great here (in orlando). When I lived in Tampa I had T-Mobile (voicestream) and Cingular. Sprints pretty good...i dont know your exact usage, but the 59.99 1000 minute plan might work. Its on the fair and flexable which is different than traditional overage charges...$5 for 50 extra minutes. Its tiered and adjusts to your usuage. Also, all the plans have nights starting at 7pm and include roaming on or off network nationwide. As for texting and web browsing...if you get a power vision phone like the samsung a900 or a920 ...

Maybe this is why T-Mo has one of the highest churn rates in the industry note: Take into cosideration that the have HALF the amount the user we have. Hmmmm T-Mobile's Churnrate includes their prepaid service, whereas no one else does...they operate them as separate companies

I think it's interesting that everyone boasts about numbers...total subscribers and whatnot. T-Mobile did almost their numbers in the past 3-5 years...where as Sprint/Nextel and Cingular doubled their numbers by buying other companies....neat
