Dumb people being sold smartphones
Jan 16, 2010, 9:15 PM

What chaps my hide are all the people who really shouldn't have smartphones who do. I'm talking about people who have no idea what a browser is. People who think they're using Windows 98 on their PC. People who don't have PCs, who can't use the accompanying software to backup their contact info, then give the smartphone to their 13 year old twit kid, who then proceeds to lock the device because they think the locking pattern is a video ...

I'm referring to the fact that whoever put a call center in El Salvador to service USA Spanish speaking customers was being stupid, because there are plenty of Spanish speakers in the USA already. However, the company thinks it's being brilliant by cutting a few cost corners and moving jobs offshore to El Salvador. Only now, those reps are calling the USA anyway. So, huge waste of money. My point - American jobs for Americans, to serve American customers, no matter ...

Yeah, you're misunderstanding. I'm being facetious. Or, maybe I'm being truthful. Maybe there are not more Spanish speakers in the US anymore. You decide.

And then 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 5TB, and so on... Don't say it can't happen. It can. Phones will eventually be embedded in our brains, and we'll connect and disconnect simply by pulling down on our earlobes. The microphone would be embedded in the corner of our mouths. *yank on the right ear* "Hello? No, I'm sorry, this is not Domino's." *yank on the left ear* *click*

That sounds a lot like the guy who called us recently and kept asking over and over again about the Motorola Quantico. I told him that, yes, it's coming out soon, but isn't available yet. This was just a few weeks ago. He kept repeating, OCD-style, "it comes out in 2010, right?" Just over and over and over again, kept repeating the same thing. I kept answering the same thing. Ultimately it comes down to the principle of the thing. You're either an honest, upright, direct, and straightforward salesperson.... or you're a sneaky, conniving, say-anything-to-get-a-sale salesperson who doesn't give a damn about the people who put money in your pocket. If you don't care about your employer's customers, then trust me, neither does your employer when it comes to your need to put food on the table. If that's the case, you might as well be a drug dealer. Profit margin's higher.

You shouldn't have used the term "VIRTUALLY" unlimited. People don't hear "virtually." They hear "unlimited." You should know that people hear what they want to hear, not the truth. Don't make that mistake again. If it's 5000 minutes, say 5000 minutes. Not "virtually unlimited." You got pwned, pal.

It's the same reason that prices at convenience stores are so high for the same items you can get for a lot less at supermarkets. The convenience factor. Remember Le Shoe from SNL back in the 70s? (You kids can see it on DVD.) This goes with Le Shoe. Le Phone matches with Le Shoe, and then you can Le Walk to your Le Car and drive over Le Phone and stand on it with Le Shoe. In other words, this sounds like a great big steaming pile of Le Crap.
