Re: Updates with the Sprint/Nextel merger
Look at my user name son. I am DIRECTLY inolved with this spectrum. Don't even try me on this one.
Together, both companies own 85 percent of the MMDS spectrum, of which Sprint owns 35 percent. Sprint announced in 2001 it would halt MMDS deployment using its current line-of-sight technology; it took a writedown in 2003 as part of a broader $1.2 billion charge. Nextel acquired its spectrum from WorldCom and Nucentrix and made leasing arrangements with numerous operators ...
Re: Updates with the Sprint/Nextel merger
They don't own 100%, they own 85% of the MMDS/LMDS/MDS spectrum.
Re: "Best" current phone
I have a i860 and a i836(wifes) and they both work well compared to a i730. I think my m470 works better than any of the iDEN phones out, but it's a 3 watt mobile. 8)

yea, mark they are spending a lot of money in 2005 for florida.
I think Mark and I both have stated that. Considering we are in the know in wireless. You on the other hand are a 15yr old kid that doesn't even know how a cell site works.

Re: PTT question
Direct talk uses the 900MHZ ISM band. I have used it, and was impressed with the nice clear sounding audio. I was able to talk to a co-worker 3 miles away across a city. Great for P.S, but maybe not a big deal for the average consumer. Heh Mark, I hear Nextel is investing big bucks in network hardening in the FL markets this year. Don't want to get caught with there pants down again. :?
Re: Sprint Nextel

Re: IDENTiFY as a I730A or I730T??
The T has a bigger font on the external display.
trace mode- #,*, menu, right arrow, unit info, phone model.
Re: Nextel18: Throw in the Towel...
I agree. nextel18 adds nothing to these or any other forums he frequents.

$299, 50 dollar rebate on it with a 2 year contract.
Re: whats motorola talking about?
People use the term PCS for a couple things.
1. PCS stands for personal communications service.
2. PCS is a band in the radio spectrum, 1900MHZ.

Re: Bands
You can't make a general statement like that. Every market is different. The better question would be, I'm is Dallas, how do you like carrier a. or carrier b.? In my area Nextel works the best for me, but it might not be the best for someone else. Don't think about what frequency you are using, a well designed network operaates good in 1900 or 800.

what can nextel do with that 96mhz ? nationwide? or half nationwide?
They will aim a directional antenna at your head, with a 200watt PA.
Re: a few things coming in may
1.25MHZ ist the bandwidth of the channel Flarion is using with OFDM. In the markets Nextel owns MMDS, they have 96MHZ of spectrum. Why do you ask the same questions all the time? You have no concept of wireless or RF.
Re: a few things coming in may
You are arguing with a RF engineer? Now that's funny. What do you do nextel18? Flip burgers, or deliver pizza?
Re: a few things coming in may
Like we have told you a million times. Nextel, if they decide to rollout Flarion will use there MMDS spectrum in which they hold approx. 96MHZ in 2/3 of the U.S.
Re: sprint/nextel merger
Great point. I think at the time two years ago when they bought the rights from Qualcomm, they didn't want there competition to get it's hands on this product. The landscape would be very different in VZW and or SPCS used Qchat. This could be the only reason they bought it, or they intend to someday overlay with CDMA. :)
Re: sprint/nextel merger
There not similar modes.
Re: question
Look out Markf, he will be posting another link, or maybe talk about vocoders, WiDEN or something else his pee sized brain can't compute.
Re: a few things coming in may
The only handset Nextel offers with iDEN/GSM is the i2000. This phone is no longer being sold. So what phone were you using?
