You just put your phone into debug mode, and then it allows you to load them via the SDK. Geez people... freaking out over something that isn't a big deal... Not to even mention... why is an iPhone customer complaining about something that there isn't even a work around for you to be able to side-load ...

I am not impressed with Sprint in my area. They have lost roaming agreements with a local carrier that owns towers, and are suffering. I have little to no coverage anywhere except on the highway, and the city I live in has 100k people in it. Extremely bummed...

If all phones ran Android, then the only lawsuits would be over hardware, and that's easily determined if a company has stolen it from another. VIVA LA OPEN SOURCE!

Take your blinders off and atleast allow yourself to see the big picture. Just simply dismissing it so callously just shows that you don't have an open mind when it comes to technology.

I live in rural WI, and even I would disagree with this. What a freaking socialistic point of view!

AT&T is $175, and it drops by $5 per month for the entire length of the contract. If you cancel 1 month prior, it ends up being $60.

Why all the hate, Verizon? Why make your claim basing it on a study done on VOICE calls, when "3G" refers to DATA? Sprint's 3G network (which is referring ONLY to data, not voice) could easily be more reliable than Verizon's 3G network. This does nothing but make Verizon look like a bully. And if there's one thing America doesn't like, it's a bully.

This is taken from: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/m obilebroadband/?page=coverage "When in Mobile Broadband markets that do not yet have EV-DO Rev. A, you can expect download speeds of 400 to 700 Kbps and upload speeds of 60- to 80 Kbps." Then, when you mouse over the various states in their "Broadband Coverage" listings, you see a VERY similar outcropping of cities that are covered with EVDO Rev A that are on AT&T's 3G coverage map. 400 Kbps is what an average user on EDGE will expect. This ...

1 fatal flaw in your statement, hazmat... EDGE is NOT equivalent to dialup, and EVDO rev 1 (Verizon's 3rd Gen Data tech) is not that different from EDGE in terms of speed. If it were superior, I could take an 8300 series curve from one of our EVDO carriers here and bring up websites faster than an 8300 series curve on EDGE. There is no real world difference in speed. Verizon is simply comparing apples to oranges (or bananas to ...

This is why it's completely wrong for Verizon to advertise in this manner. They're comparing apples to oranges, and are allowing customers to think all 3G technology is the same speed and same technology.

Verizon's customers are just as clueless as AT&T's are. Everyone thinks "3G" is an actual measure of the speed... which isn't true at all.

The biggest issue I have to take with Verizon fanboi's like yourself, is that you're all comparing apples to oranges. Do ya like apples? Well, AT&T's 3G coverage (3G means THIRD GENERATION) is newer, faster, and allows simultaneous voice and data. Verizon's third gen (3G) tech, EVDO, has 3 differnt kinds, and the fastest flavor of it is only in the larger cities as well. The older two rev's are not much faster than EDGE. Not to mention RIM ...

When you leave a 3G area, you automatically flip to EDGE, and the GPS transitions all on its own. I know this because I work on the western edge of WI, and travel to Minneapolis/St Paul often.

The biggest problem is that John Q Cellphone user equates 3G coverage with voice coverage. I work for an AT&T retailer, and you don't know how many people think that having 3G will enhance their voice coverage. Heck, 75% of the population probably thinks "3G" means "3gigabytes"... The biggest problem with what all of the cell companies are doing since AT&T came out with "3G" coverage is this: They're comparing apples to oranges. Why? Because GSM 3G coverage is faster than CDMA ...

Yeah, but you know that they're not going to discount their phones even more. It's not the ETF that drives the phone price, it's how many years you sign on for. No Contract = Full Price, 1 yr contract = small discount, 2 yr contract = normal discount.

Verizon/Sprint's 3G Coverage on par with AT&T's 2.5G EDGE

Just wanted you all to know that most of the the "3G" coverage that Verizon and Sprint tote around is on par with AT&T's 2.5G EDGE coverage. Also, keep in mind that even the newest revisions of EVDO aren't as fast as AT&T's 3G coverage, and have about the same overall coverage as we do. Not to mention that on EDGE, I can send/receive SMS and email on my smartphone while I'm in a phone call... something that all of ...
