They subsidize these phones more than others because they want to keep the consumer cost down. But if you choose to break contract before it's over then they reserve the right to bill out the ETF to recoup lost revenue on the equipment and the monthly service you agreed to pay when you got the phone ...

Or getting a phone dirt cheap at Walmart (The BlackBerry 8520 for $28.88, for example). Play your cards right and you can sell that for 2 bills! (i.e. $200)

Yeah. I have a Verizon line and a T-Mobile line. That sucks.

Does this mean that other companies will do it, too?

Although I highly disagree with it, it makes sense.

Okay, I dealt with it. So, I keep faith in T-Mobile and purchased this BlackBerry that I saw Tuesday. I figured I might as well leave the Sidekick and get the Cliq. Fail! T-mobile goes down again. Now, who are you going to blame ...

I just came back to Verizon. When I had them a few years ago, all of the non-smartphone phones had Verizon's own UI on them. It just seems rare that a phone that's not Windows Mobile, Palm or BlackBerry doesn't have that same "crippling".

VZW, Motorola, Android...what do those have to do with the iPhone! You've got a better network, the inventor of cell phones (or something like that), and a new upcoming OS. But I know there will be some ATT/iPhone users that will ...
