Two weeks :-D
Jul 5, 2010, 11:40 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

I just put in my two week notice today (but effective for yesterday). My last day will be on Friday, July 16. Been a pleasure reading all of you here in Shop Talk, since the second I say anything in the Lounge, I get jumped on like the last available offer in sales hell. :) Kudos and thanks to my faves, both online and off: ACSer4Sprint, ochne, retrocool, ecycled, this_troper, amarantamin, rainbow_metals, sprintchickwv, and so many more that I'm forgetting. Moving on ...

Re: is it just me or have people lost their minds today?
Jul 5, 2010, 11:20 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

More people are losing their minds daily from my perspective. The calls have gotten worse and worse and worse. And it's not just me or my apathy talking. Today, for example, is the first time I had someone that had a technical issue that refused to be transferred to tech. Then wanted a supervisor but refused to be transferred to one. Then wanted to cancel but refused to be transferred to acount services. Then claimed they'd sue us, but didn't want ...

Being a hardcore Atheist I used to hate this. Just their way of really wishing me a good day/life so I don't complain anymore. Plus, there's no god (to me at least) anyway so nothing weird about saying "Bless you as well" or something.

Re: Sprint HTC EVO extra $10/month charge
Jun 23, 2010, 1:49 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

I know the standard answer is to throw out the hardware features of the phone, and how it's not a 4G charge... and the reality is that neither of those answers are going to suffice for techncially savvy people that know most of the phone's features will still work without a Sprint account. This is my speculation. The Evo is the first 3G and 4G phone. Everyone here knows that. Everyone also knows 4G isn't everywhere yet. I think the $10 ...

Happens to me a lot. Demand at the start that you get a name. If you don't get one, place them on hold and call again -- hoping that they're not the only one on helpdesk. If we have to identify, they have to identify.

Answering my own break time question
Jun 9, 2010, 5:36 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

From a blog that I dont have the URL for. Was the first result when I googled for oregon break I work at a restaurant in McMinnville Oregon and there seems to be some conflict between employees and managment concerning break times that are required by law. Management tells many that they are not allowed a break at all until they have worked five or six hours. I was under the impression that there is a required break time of ...

I think Oregon law's pretty clear on it. They also tried to not give me a break because I worked 3h 57m one day. Oregon law is pretty clear that you get some sort of break for every 2h 1m you work.

If you have to use break to use the bathroom during the first part of your day, and then use your scheduled break, is your supervisor allowed to tell you that for the last 5.5 hours of your shift you only have 1 minute and 40 seconds of break? Pretty sure it's an OSHA violation but that's just me.

Re: OK PEOPLE THIS IS WHY THERE IS A 10.00 CHARGE ON THE EVO
Jun 6, 2010, 8:39 PM
in the HTC EVO 4G forum

Are you sure that you didn't get this account messed up? I would be less shocked if it came from a user called BoostTechSupport and followed every paragraph with a "... dawg!" First, the company line is that it's not a 4G charge, so you are correct there. Second, there's no phone on any all-you-can-eat Sprint data price plan that caps data at 5gb/mo (aircards and embedded devices, obviously, are another story). Not a good excuse for the Evo $10 fee. Third, ...

So we just had a guy taking pictures of people's desks that had food or beverage on it. Apparently it'll be used to write people up. Freaking disgusting. If you treat your employees like this, what does that say about you as an employer? Do you feel any shame packing a DSLR around and taking pictures of people working? So sick of this place.

Call comes in (I hate it when that happens), lady goes off about how she's in roaming and wants out. I ask what kind of phone she has. She says it's a 'Sprint, what's that called, a cordless phone! (facepalm) Pull up the account, it's an ancient $39.99 plan local only with 400 minutes and roaming at 69 cents a minute. Offered to move her to Talk 450, which is the same price, more minutes (50), M2M and no roaming charges... since ...

I'm on one of the TMO plans without a contract (Even More Plus). I buy my phones used and save $20 a month on unlimited, I do still pay tax on that by the way. And think of it this way. No contract, I'm completely free to come and go as I please. With Flexpay, if I buy my phones used, so I get about the same price as a new phone on contract as well. I don't have a ...
