Hey Mikey. ROM Manager is a must. This will allow you to download and install different versions ("ROMS") of 2.2, some of which are very unique. It's worth the 4 bucks for the premium version, but the free version works great too. Be sure to back up your current ROM (it should prompt you to do so)before installing a new one. Ok, I withdraw part of my question. I did a bit more research and apparently the CM Dev can't bundle Google Apps with CM, so that's why I wasn't prompted to log into my account, there was no Market App, etc. I'm still trying to figure out how to install the Google Apps package after the CM install.

Hey Menno, what great timing. I'm a fan of your posts since you usually seem to know what you're talking about.
I actually rooted for the very first time today. It was a bit tricky since I had the FRG22D build (stock 2.2) and had never rooted before. But after some frustration and near-brickings, I got it to work.
I installed ROM Manager based on some other things I read, and WOW. What a great program. ...

HA! Great point! I never thought of that.
I also think the cross-manufacturer "Droid" branding scheme is confusing and pointless. It cheapens the image of such a wonderfully powerful OS.

Hockeydog, you are absolutely correct! The song you are referencing, Money for Nothing, is indeed a classic! Dire Straits is one of my favorite bands of all time. Did you know it was actually Sting who sang the "I want my MTV..." part of that song? He co-wrote the song. I apologize if you did know that, don't mean to insult your musical intelligence.

I'm a frequent reader of these forums and don't often post. However, as a fellow Droid enthusiast with a passion for all new technology, I had to let you know how appropriate and well written this is. Far too many of the negative comments regarding this phone, and others for that matter, are the product of misinformation and lack of understanding. It's refreshing to see someone knowledgeable (and legible) explain that.
