It;s Not Free
According to CS at T-Mobile its $10/line to get free voice/data roaming in Canada and Mexico. New plans are coming out Wednesday July 15th that may be better.
What you get right now without additional expense is $0.20/minute calls and free 3G data which is unlimited as it is in other countries. Unless you're traveling to Canada or Mexico a lot keep what you have.
Beware the Governement "do gooder"
As another commenter said "oh my God". Another Government elected official trying to help me. Please, I don't need your help! I don't need you to intrude into my life again Mr/s. city counsel-man, Mr/s. Congressman, Mr/s. State legislature! I've had enough government meddling in my life. Now you want to tell me when and where I can listen to music?
Its seems anymore our lives are full of those elected officials who are trying to help ...
Sprint - Overpriced Tab Data Plan!
OMG - Sprint has shot themselves in the foot again. Why a contract? They should provide the data at the least cost and at least match Verizon and AT&T on data prices - in fact as the #3 provider they need to be cheaper to attract more business. Offer the unit just as Apple does the iPad WiFi+3G with a month to month data service you can turn on and off as needed online. I'd pay the full $599 ...

Hero Firmware Updated
Just completed OTA Firmware update of my Sprint Hero. The file was 3.748 MB and updated the phone to ver 1.56.651.2. I really can't tell what was updated with these "bug" fixes, but the phone still shows EVDO rev 0, but the speed test test showed 1685kbps down and 592kbps up. With those speeds I'd say the phone is connecting at EVDO rev A even those the phone shows rev 0. I hope we'll see ...
HTC Touch Pro - Great Phone!
I picked up a Touch Pro at BestBuy yesterday. It was a really great deal at 299.99 less a 20% discount under my reward zone account ('til 11/1/2008 - out the door for $240 +tax and no mail in rebate. BestBuy had 8 phones shipped to each store the sales rep told me.

Too Bad for Sprint
As a long time Sprint customer the comapany needs to do something different. My recent visit to a Sprint store to upgrade my PPC 6700 to a new device resulted in nothing but frustration.
When you are a long time customer with 3 personal phones and 5 business lines gets upset - you are going to lose business. I would think Sprint would do everything they could to keep me as a customer. Don't take ...

You really don't need analog throughout rural Kansas roaming and the phone roams on several other carriers just fine (Alltel, Verizon). When I had a Samsung dual band/tri-mode, the phone seemed to default to analog and then to digital. I wouldn't worry about the analog, you'll get better sound quality and the coverage is just as good with the digital roaming.

Even if I bought it used, if I didn't have it for 18 months I would not be eligible for the rebate - they weren't even interested in keeping me for another 2 years. Palm Treo 700??
A Sprint rep told me that PalmOne was coming out with a Treo 700 series. They had no details other than it had a sliding key pad like some of the other PalmOne PDAs and would be smaller than the 600/650. Has anyone heard of a new series of Treo's?

The Treo 600 and 650 do not use Graffiti as they have key pads. I have had both Palm phones with and without graffiti pads and the Treo is great without. The Treo 650 has a much improved key pad and is easier to use than the 600 and has better lighting for night use.
No Discount on Treo 650 at the Sprint Store
I went in to the Sprint store in Wichita, KS today to look at the Treo 650. I wanted the phone mainly because I would like the Bluetooth capability for my car. The price posted was $599 with a $150 rebate if you signed-up for a 2 year contract.
