I'd also like to add you'd be getting an extra gig of data, with rollover data apparently, and upping your minutes from $700 to unlimited.

People seem to understand that in many areas AT&T is a monopoly, in others Verizon is, both in landline and/or mobile service.
What they don't fully grasp is that both Verizon and AT&T having the most customers does not make them a monopoly where both compete in the same markets (in no market do they compete landline, but they do for mobile) but it makes them a duopoly, in that both control majority of all customers both landline ...

cant do that with at&t, if you have verizon you can, not sure about the other 2
no, you can. I've already upgraded twice since their NEXT program has been out.
Re: What's the point?
if you're on the next 24, and lets say your phone costs 5 bucks a month, and you want to upgrade after a year, you just pay the difference of what month your on, and then 24th month. (in this example it's 12, so 12 months times 5 bucks = $60)

When they owned Motorola, wouldn't that mean Google was then in direct competition with all the manufacturers making Android phones? Under that same logic, it seems so.
Samsung's first name must be Joseph because they're Stalin paying microsoft the money they owe them.

About a month or two ago, AT&T changed their coverage viewer on their website. You used to be able to select Voice coverage and get a street-level depiction of their coverage, with a scale of poor, fair, good, and excellent coverage strength. Now, their maps are a binary depiction of coverage, either there's coverage or no coverage.
In many areas, 4G LTE is stated on the maps, but I have experienced 2G coverage.
AT&T is just as bad as ...

Why is it though that all the good stuff comes from the carrier with the smallest footprint? I really wish they were in my area. They come out with some great ideas and then the other three lemmings of carriers follow suit months later. One day, perhaps the others will get a lightbulb going off in their head.

I'm not sure of anywhere in my post that B-sides should hate AT&T. Please review my thread and point out where I claim that B-sides needs to hate AT&T personally. I believe I said having AT&T and DirecTV as seperate entities was not a bad thing. Having them merge is not in the best interest of the consumers. B-sides likes both and the reason is that both ...

Yeah I'm pretty excited. DirecTV is pretty awesome, but Uverse with the channel line up and pricing is a better deal. If they can take what wins with Uverse and put it to DirecTV then I'm sure ...

If this deal goes through, AT&T will be the largest pay tv provider in the world.
John B.
While they'll be very large, Comcast is will still be larger.
Re: This has gone way too far.
smcgarvey6 said:
I for one would rather see directv stay a separate entity from any company. The only reason at&t wants to buy them is because they are losing home phone, broadband and pay tv customers. This just gives them another way to raise prices. I hope the FCC and the DOJ steps in and blocks them.
except as a trend, prices have fallen.
Re: This has gone way too far.
Slammer said:
Yes. Because shifting the folcrum point to a more even balance is better for healthier choice and pricing. The problem is, even having strong parent companies, Tmobile and Sprint still have limited funded parents as compared to Verizon and AT&T.
However, it is my hope that acquistions or merges are kept to minimalistic numbers and that AT&T and Verizon are kept at bay to use innovation rather than just purchase entities that others built.

It's due to deregulation that these large monopolies grew. We need to break up the large companies and then regulate them so they can't grow any larger.

It may not be such a good thing. I have had AT&T wireless and landline in the past, and some of my customers are stuck with their data service for their offices.
In all cases, the customer service has been horrible, so if DirectTV ever provided good customer service, that'll be a fond memory.
Customer service doesn't matter... Til you need it.

They offer good products, and I'm okay with them preloading it on android, just as apple preloads their stuff on the iPhone.
What I feel is antitrust behavior from google is them blocking youtube access from Microsoft.
Comcast wont let this happen.....
They will throw any amount of money they have to at Washington to get this blocked.

Re: You must be trolling
hyperbole.
1. Yes
2. If content providers pay for access, then the consumer gets access to it without using any of their data.
3. This is just purely made up.
Funny...
The apple store used to always blame that on the case. If you had any case on it that wasn't sold by apple then it was the cases fault and they wouldn't do anything to help you.

Sprint and Tmobile are not allowed to form a third power to create viable competition for the former bells of AT&T and VZW, yet the two largest can continuously swallow up the smaller carriers putting them in an unfair advantage for the other less wealthy carriers.

Verizon and Sprint customers are used to having that ability only on wifi so it is not really that big of a deal. But the commercial told you it was so I understand why you can't live without it.

honestly it's one of those things that I do all the time without thinking about it.
I'm not sure how you guys function without it.
Re: Good for T-mo
lol...yeah I remember those ads.
AT&T got so butthurt over those ads they hired Luke Wilson.
but really Verizon was full of it. Their 3G network was nothing to brag about. In most places during the roll out it was barely faster than Edge.
Re: Good for T-mo
I'm not sure about their new commerical but they got around that with the old one it had a tiny disclaimer at the bottom that said "Competitors maps from 01/13" While Verizon's maps were their updated ones.
And this was during the holiday season that I saw that.

Re: what?? it' for STUPID people!
That's not a shocker though. T-mobile has always and will probably always be less than AT&T. They charge less per month not because they're some unsung hero for the consumer...but because they can't.
If AT&T and T-mobile cost the same per month, then nobody would be with T-mobile because their coverage isn't as good.
(I'm not saying it's garbage coverage btw, they are doing a good job of increasing their nationwide footprint...but they're still not as big ...
