Android 4.0 for Galaxy S2

Has anybody else here updated to ICS for the S2? I must admit that so far (only 2 days in) I am disappointed with it. I have noticed that several of the animations seem to be rougher than they were with 2.3. The unlock screen hiccups every time and just doesn't look very fluid. Every time I open the phone app to make a call they keypad takes a second to load. For some reason, if ...

I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that they would be willing to roll out ICS before the S3 comes out. I don't know that it would hurt sales all that much, but it certainly won't help.

I haven't watched the entire unpacked video, but I haven't seem anything saying it has an LED. I hope you're right. I guess I'll just have to use it before I judge it, but I don't really see the importance of this notification page.

While watching the Samsung "unpacked" event, I noticed how they were making a big deal about the way that the phone notifies you if you missed important calls or text messages. There is a much simpler, and though I've not yet used the s3 (obviously) probably more efficient way of notifying the user of missed calls and messages. It's been around for a while...LED. I had a Sanyo phone back in 2004 that would notify me from ...

I agree that it would be nice to have a Galaxy phone look as good as it performs. However, I've owned the Captivate and the S2 (att version) and I will admit that while I would like it to look and feel better, I would compromise all that to keep the phone light weight and slim. HTC makes some of the best looking phones on the market, but all the way up until the One series, they ...

I don't believe that's the case at all. In all honesty, T-mobile isn't even a competitor for at&t. When a company has lower prices, most of the same phones, only 30% of the customers and losing ground daily, that isn't much competition. The main reason at&t wants to acquire T-mobile is for their spectrum.

Every time I set up the "buddies now" widget with contacts, they are removed within a day. The widget stays on my home screen, but the contact I assigned to it is removed. So the next day I have all these buddies now widgets that don't have any contacts assigned. I was curious to know if anybody else is having this issue, and if anybody knows what I can do to fix it. Thanks.

The processor isn't inferior. Even though T-mobile will get a 1.5ghz dual core, the 1.2ghz dual core on at&t's version will out perform it. The only advantage for Tmo's version is that it is capable of reaching higher network speeds(42mb/s). As far as the screen goes, it's all a matter of opinion. I prefer 4.3, over 4.5, but I understand why some people would prefer the bigger screen. I'm certain the reason at&t kept the ...

I was told that in an effort to "be consistent" for all customers they got rid of the 13 month upgrades, as well as offering additional discounts based off of how much you pay per month. Is that no longer accurate?

I downloaded a few different themes with my bb's as well, but none of them really made it possible to customize your home screen. I know that bb theme studio would probably allow that, but you have to put a lot of time into that if you want a decent theme.

I went from the curve 8310 to the bold 9700 and thought it was a huge improvement. It wasn't enough to satisfy my curiosity so I made the move to android. I've owned the android for just over a year now and I'm seriously considering moving back to blackberry. I just can't figure out why blackberry won't allow you to customize your screen and make the move to widgets. It seems kind of juvenile I'm sure, but ...

I was a little disappointed to see that they stayed with the 480x800 display as well. It seems a little strange that everything else on the phone would be top of the line, but the resolution would be on par with a phone they released last year. I know they modified it so that the screen looks sharper, but I'm still a little surprised. I wouldn't say that's a deal breaker though. Unless you have it ...

I'm really happy with the phones performance in moderate to good coverage. Unfortunately in my area the service is moderate to poor and that's where the galaxy s struggles. Most people won't review a phone in a poor service area, so that's one of those things i'll have to find out on my own. I am still excited for it, just not quite as much as I was.

I have the original galaxy s and I'm concerned that the new one will have some of the same problems. I know everybody says at&t's service sucks, and I won't argue that point too much. We recently had our internet go out which means we didn't have microcell either, and I can say that while at&t's network didn't do a stellar job, my galaxy s did a very poor job. Come on man, it's silly to say that at&t doesn't have a network. I will be the first to say that in most locations, Verizon has a stronger signal than at&t, but that certainly doesn't mean they don't have a network. Criticize if you want, but at least make it be realistic about it.

Nothing changed to my overall mrc and I didn't have any credits. Here's exactly what happened, and I'm sure it affected the discount, but I completely disagree and don't think it's right. I was just curious to know if anybody had an additional discount offer that was removed without notification. For example, I had a line that was eligible for an upgrade with an additional $50 discount and a waived upgrade fee. You're probably right about that. I read a couple reviews on wp7 and while they said that the zune feature worked well, they didn't mention how the music was stored on the device. The only thing that makes me think that they will allow you to use a removable sd card to store music is that zune has (or at least they did have, not sure as I don't use my zune anymore) a $15 unlimited download plan. ...

Does anybody know if the zune software on the new windows phones allows you to save the music to your sd card/phone memory? It seems like the most logical thing to do, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used some kind of pandora style constant data connection required method of listening to zune music. Thanks.

I think the captivates screen clarity is amazing, I can only imagine how good the retina display looks. I planned on getting my wife an iphone 4 when they first came out, still didn't get one and I'm almost tempted to just wait for the iphone 5. Of course I imagine I could just sell the iphone 4 when it comes out and make most of my money back.

I agree with you about the apps. With the support it's getting I doubt it will take long to build a nice app library. It kind of seems like these tiles are a less customizable version of motoblur doesn't it? I like the freedom that android gives you and it appears (at least from the UI's I've seen) that Microsoft went a little more down IOS alley then they did Android. That's actually a good point you might want to take into consideration mikemam. One thing I have noticed about the Captivate is that it seems to be calibrated for higher speed connections if that makes sense. For example, I have a 3g microcell and wifi in my basement. When I'm in my house the phone works great. The town I live in doesn't have 3g and just has all around spotty service. There has been several ...

I have to agree with 130 here. I've owned the Captivate for about two and a half months now and I still enjoy it as much now as the day I pulled it out of the box. Iphone might have the retina display, but the Captivate is no slouch with 800x480. The superAMOLED display is amazing and the touch screen is every bit as accurate and sensitive as the iphone. Actually, I am in a contract. I mentioned that earlier. The first time they did let me out. If I wanted to waste a couple days strait on the phone I could probably eventually get out of this one too, but it's not worth it. I don't plan on leaving at&t so why spend all my time trying to get out of a contract that won't impact me anyway. I think somebody owes somebody ...
