Re: Best price- new service. Costco??
Regardless of where you go, your monthly rate plan will be the same. The difference between purchasing the phone at a corporate store, and say a Costco is the price of the phone and special offers.
The EVO, however is usually priced the same everywhere: $199. There are rare exceptions, such as Samsclub.com, where it is going for $145.
Rich
the comment you just deleted was totally fair game in my opinion. It was merely a play on words on a certain user's s/n. I know arguing this is moot, but I just wanted to point out that no personal offense was intended.
Re: Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
Lol I know, I don't think I've ever seen one go so far. Anyways, I'm sure I'll run into you on another forum and we can extend those out too!
Re: Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
Yeah dude, in this case we're discussing the effects of government regulation on the cell phone industry...and then we all went on a tangent lol. Besides, you must have read our entire line of posts to end up at the bottom, so I can safely assume that you were at least slightly interested :P
Re: Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
From what you've written so far, I'd be shocked if you haven't read Ayn Rand. She was an avid supporter of laissez-faire capitalism; the idea of capitalism in it's purest form with absolutely zero government intervention nor regulation. I personally believe that the government has one obligation in which it must interfere and that is in the event of a monopoly.
The thing that is beautiful about capitalism is that it is self-supportive and prevails when left alone (laissez-faire). ...
Re: Socialist San Fran
I guess the best we can do is vote for a better Congress later this year.
Re: Socialist San Fran
There's no question about it; we are not getting the government we deserve. The Federal gov't is forecasting a record setting $1.4 trillion deficit for 2010 alone. For those of you who are unaware of how massive of a number that is, if $1.4T were distributed to every man, woman and child in America we would all receive nearly $5,000.
This is on top of the $14T deficit we are already faced with. Our founding fathers would never have ...
Socialist San Fran
The government has no right to interfere so much with business. Ultimately, it is the consumers' job to know about the product they're using and any warnings that go with it. That's why consumer-advocacy groups exist; to inform consumers of ill-advised products and to start boycotts.
Consumers will (hopefully) always have more power than the gov't, because we can hurt a company's pockets unlike the gov't which relies upon bureaucratic BS to impose control. Mid-term elections are coming up...do ...
Re: If you don't need unlimited minutes then...
Virgin Mobile Canada (which is not owned by Sprint) offers a GSM version Android handset. Unfortunately for the U.S., Virgin is a CDMA carrier only, so any dreams of a Virgin droid in the states are just that.
I'm anxious to see what happens with smartphones integrating into pre-paid carrier lineups...I can see phones like the EVO and DROID X on tracfone and others in years to come.
Good Deal
That's probably the best sale I've ever heard of in all of my wireless experience. That tops all the free flights and free massive bill credits T-Mobile has offered in the past. I can't imagine that you could get an HD2 for free with no activation...wow.
Re: Other Carriers?
True.

Re: Other Carriers?
But really, what incentive does TMO have to use microsim cards? If they did, the iPhone 4 would pop up all over their network, costing them a fortune in data costs with no benefit to them. They don't get to sell the device and all they make is the data charge/month, but we know all too well just how much data the iPhones use...at&t just released new tiered data prices obviously aimed at heavy iPhone users. When the contract ...
Re: $140/month Unlimited Everything
If you want truly unlimited service, including all available features, the cost is $140. However, since Sprint's Everything Data plans include unlimited calling to every cell phone in America, very few people fit the niche of the Simply Everything plan.
As far as onboard memory goes, why do people prefer non-transportable memory over microSD cards? By using an iPhone (or any phone that uses onboard memory), you are limiting yourself on transfering your media. Memory cards are by far ...
$140/month Unlimited Everything
Sprint now offers the most expensive unlimited plan in the industry. Here is how it breaks down:
Simply Everything: $99
Wifi Hotspot Feature: $29
Premium Data Charge: $10
Total: ~$140
Expensive for one phone. Granted, $140 buys you unlimited talk, text, internet, e-mail, 3G/4G access, GPS, mobile TV service, Android 2.1 and it's market (which as of April had over 34,000 apps) wifi hotspot for up ...
Re: The REAL lesson is...
Socialism, my friend. Your buddy Obama loves to spend our money. Read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and you will start to hate governmental agencies, like the FCC, then slowly develop a fear for them. The U.S.S.A. is nigh.
Wow
Ok, so it's acceptable to talk poorly about a president because he's white, but because we have a black president, it is no longer OK to talk poorly about the president??? That sounds racist to me, foolish bluecoyote.
Curve 83xx ?
I have tried researching everywhere I can think of, but I've found no answer to my question: is it possible to place a lock on my text messages which requires a password on my Curve 8330? I'm trying to prevent nosy people from accessing my conversations.
Sprint Discounts
Does anybody know what the deal is for friends/family of IBM employees? I had a customer who visited a corporate Sprint store and they informed him that because he is a friend of an IBM employee, he is also eligible to receive the discount.
Does anybody know of this, and what are the qualifications?
Zer01
What ever happened to Zer01? I heard about them and even checked into their website, but nothing has surfaced yet. Were they eventually spotted as a bogus company or are they still operating?
Re: Verizon's Next Commercial
Jeez, sorry for not understanding the semantics of a cell site vs. cell tower, let alone the exact technicalities of the roaming agreements that VZW and Sprint have between each other, which is exactly why I was asking; to clarify questions I had.
Re: Verizon's Next Commercial
I've been told that every Verizon-owned tower is Rev. A. Do you know if this is true? If so, then think that not only does a VZW customer get 3G coverage everywhere there is a VZW tower, but also when they are roaming off of Sprint's 3G service.
As a side note, does anybody know if the map shown in the commercial includes the 3G roaming coverage as well or not?
Re: 5%???
Switch to Sprint. They give you 30 days to try it out. Just get a new phone number to use the service, I guarantee you will love it. If not, return the phone and you won't have to worry about re-porting your number back out since you got the new number.
Re: T-Mobile USA Experiencing Problems.......period!
2 problems with that statement. First off, Verizon has a larger voice and data coverage map than any GSM carrier period. Second, AT&T and Verizon share the exact same rate plans. I guarantee you that if you compare a Verizon rate brochure side by side to an AT&T brochure they will both contain the same minute plans for the same prices. The only difference is one is red and the other is blue/orange.
Lastly, I don't know where you ...
Re: 5%???
All of Denver was out, too. With this, the outage of sidekicks last month and their new no-contract plans, I'm starting to think that T-Mobile is the new Cricket/MetroPCS.
N-Gage?
I haven't seen, read or even heard about the N-Gage for at least two years. For all I knew I thought it was looong gone. I worked for a video game retailer back in 2005 and they were just finishing ridding themselves of all the games.
Re: Moron trying to give me "advice"
Wireless Advocates?
Re: Not too shabby!
Agreed. Finally, we are starting to see some criticism for the Iphone. I'll admit that when it was first introduced, it was revolutionary. But, the thing that makes it so great is Apple's legendary marketing. Seriously, I've had some ridiculous conversations which start with me asking what kind of phone they have and what they are looking for. "Oh, we want the iphone." Me: "Why's that?" Customer: "Well, the commercials say it is such a great phone.", or some ...
Re: Doubt is gonna work
I almost wish I weren't on Sprint already, because I would love to switch over. I came from T-Mobile last December, and I seriously consider that as my christmas present to myself. Now that Sprint has introduced Anywhere Anytime I wish I could enjoy the excitement of a new customer again. :)
Re: What happened to not having to upgrade hardware to get OS updates?
That's right! And a better service. Everybody loves to hate Sprint (I was there a year ago), but when it comes down to the actual performance of the networks, I would literally gladly pay $160 for Sprint if I could get the same for $99 with AT&T.
Re: virgin mobile
Awesome story. I sold a post paid to a 93 year old man the other day. I think he's my oldest post paid customer ever.
Re: AT&T...
Which department? Every time I call on Sundays (well I guess I haven't tried in about a month), they're closed! Maybe I'm calling the wrong 611. :D
Re: Blame Palm, not Sprint
Ok, cellfoneluva, how do you know that Sprint sucks? Is it because a) you truly know that they suck because you have used their service recently, b) you hear that all the time and give in to what people say if they say it enough (just like every iphone customer) or c) you only feel comfortable when you conform, so you pick a generalized belief and ran with it?
Re: AT&T...
As you quoted, I don't bad mouth carriers to my customers. I bad mouth them to others in the industry.
On another note, since when does a corporation care more about customer satisfaction than profit? ( :D that is a greedy capitalist thought right there) But really, I can provide the best customer service in the world to any customer. However, if I am not concerned about my profit margin as well as the overall happiness of my customers, ...
Re: virgin mobile
You made many valid points, but I honestly don't understand why seniors are indeed hesitant to sign a contract due to unknown life expectancy. Not to sound like an a$$hole, but worst case scenario the account holder dies, a carrier would never refuse early termination without penalty for a death.
Re: Another phone I will not be able to add to my family plan.
Indeed. Did you guys know that CL credit union discount applies to aircards as well? $49.30, cannot be beaten.
Re: AT&T...
You assumed too many things. Shop Talk is reserved for people involved in the wireless industry. I do not bad mouth AT&T to my customers, I simply steer them away from inferior services. I know how to sell, and I do it well.
By assuming that I push T-Mobile, you are incorrect. I actually ran my kiosk to sell more Sprint new acts last month and the month prior than any of the other 16 stores we have in ...
AT&T...
Does anybody else share a passionate dislike for AT&T? If you live in Dallas, your opinion does not count, because your bias towards the company is automatic. In fact, 3 major carriers are offered where I work, one of them being AT&T. I started working for the company in Dallas, where disliking AT&T would be a risk against your life. I moved to CO and I realized how much AT&T sucks. First of all, their pricing is outrageous. For ...
Re: virgin mobile
If you're looking for no contract, FlexPay is the only way to go. FlexPay coverage is no different than post paid T-Mobile, which is great. Even AT&T's gophone is terrible. Look at a gophone coverage map when you get a chance. I recently saw a billboard advertising the gophone with the message "Why use unlimited on a limited network" or something close to that. In fact, gophone's coverage is far inferior to AT&T's post paid contract service, thus it ...
