The hard thing is that there are a ton of android phones out there now with every manufacturer making one. Android is so watered out with very few "good" phones out. upgrade question for VZW reps
I have the Droid Pro. Not a bad phone but didn't grow on me. I'll sell it to anyone here if they want it. PS - in great condition.
Anyway, I had signed a 1 year agreement just before they axed that trend and my upgrade is this Dec. I would like a new phone because the DP isn't doing it for me. So I called VZW and the rep would allow me to upgrade early for a 2-yr ...
iphone 1yr contract?
I know this has been posted but there was no answer at that time. Is there a 1yr option for this phone? OR is this one of those money hogs and the iphone will not be offered at a 1yr?

Well the advantage of BB is that they can offer you a really good service plan (black tie) which will cover essentially everything with the phone that VZW will not... Only for a small fee. My brother and sister in-law both work at BB and try to get me to get phones thru them. BB does not offer 1yr contracts which is why I only shop at the VZ retailers.

Has anyone heard if there is a 1yr pricing point for the iphone? I know ATT only offered the iphone on a 2yr contract. Do you think that will be the same? I hope they don't do this for that the phone is going on a year old in the next 4 months and that would make a super old phone come 20 months from now.
It's like owning the Nokia 2110 (remember??)when 3g came out.

I have an eris too and I come close to lighting it on fire. My upgrade is in March and I have been back and forth with either an LTE phone or iPhone. I might just wait until march so that I can get my NE2 credit. If you are upgrading early, keep in mind that the NE2 credit is $50-100 off a new phone if that matters.

I was actually wondering about this myself. If I were to make the jump, it would only be for the 1yr agreement. If the iPhone does not have this option, then I will have to see whats out in March. Hopefully something good.

My NE2 from my current contract is up in March. I should be grandfathered in for the credit. I just hope having a new (old) iphone would change the pricing structure in this situation.

Now the cat is officially out of the bag, it makes me wonder how the pricing structure will change for contracts, data, and 1 yr agreements with this device.
It has been listed that the iphone is $199/299 for a two-yr agreement. Would the pricing structure change for a 1 yr agreement or will it just bounce up $70 like other devices?

I hope I am not mistaken when I answer this but I believe that the current CDMA technology will not allow you to talk and surf. I am almost certain that when you make a phone call, it locks the data channel. your best bet is to get a rep on here to either tell you straight or confirm what I said.
If the iPhone comes in a 4G flavor, then it would be possible.

there is a response i completely agree with. i have plenty of friends with iphones or android phones... and yet they both do the exact same things on them. email, games, and facebook/twitter. both OS do the same things. just preference.

I wouldn't say that the iphone isnt for tech geeks. its a phone. tech geeks are the ones who jailbreak every OS they put on the damn thing so that people who want to have more control over a phone can. same thing would go for any android phone. granted, the phone comes with customization options, but "the geeks" cracked that deal too. a phone is a phone is a gadget.

Apple has always been behind the mark. They aren't a "beta" type company. They launched the original iPhone with EDGE when 3g was out for a while. I would expect the same for LTE

I suppose that if a 3g iPhone is launched, then I would suffice to say that a one year contract would work best for this situation because it's only a matter of time (probably this year) for a 4g iPhone to come.
I have my NE2 in March. If the iPhone does come out, it will be an impulse move whether I bite the bullet and go for it and just sign up for a 1 year contract. Nice ...

It bothers me why this is still such a hot topic. To be honest, with all the Andoid phones out there, it makes the iPhone less unique in the sense of the best phone out there. To me, it would be a toss up rather than a definite decision if this were to happen. Where to people get these speculations?

It never would. I've played around with other android devices and love the OS. I'm just stuck with this damn thing. I should have just got the droid. Sometimes saving a few $$ isn't the best option.

so I assume that waiting until Mar would be probably the best bet. I know whats out now and I am not excited about any device. I am not a fan of any of the Moto phones out... Samsung... haha right... HTC is the only one with a solid solid phone but they do not have a large screen phone for VZW yet.
