Too much work. Just go into a store and speak to someone in person instead of being lazy and ordering online.

iPhones aren't cheap, but to get two lines on the family plan costs up front will be $398 for just the phones alone (plus cases, screen protectors, and Apple care).

Uh... Do you have Apple Care? If so, contact Apple and see what they can do. If not, AT&T won't be able to do much but tell you to call customer care. That is weird though...

AT&T can replace your SIM card for free. Just take your phone in and let them know. You keep your number and everything but may lose any info you have on that card.

Jail breaking a phone is pointless and for those that want to tweak the hardware but end up failing. I work for AT&T and have had so many customers come in with jail broken phones asking for help. People here "customization" and they immediately feel the need to do it. Why jail break your phone now? Wait for the update and/or new phone if one comes out.

There will more or less be a new iPhone. A lot of the rumored updates for the 3G can't happen unless a hardware upgrade happens (better camera and faster internet speed). But we have to wait until June 8th when Apple announces it. My guess is the phone will go on sale mid July with the update sometime next week since iTunes is already updating their programs for the 3.0 software.

Why don't you just switch over to AT&T so you wouldn't have to ask difficult questions like the one posted? Not to mention if anything happens to the phone your SOL in regards to warranty.

I have three cases for my phone: the incipio which is a gel covering encased in a hard case that protects the corners of the phone (where it will hit if dropped), the iFrogz because of the way it looks and disconnects easily, and the belt clip when I am at work or just in formal/business attire. I reccomend any of those.
And the invisi shield is a good product but be careful when using it with a docked car ...

Word is there is no new iphone, just an update that is going to include 100+ features including faster 3G speed (current is 1.7kbs, we are looking at 7.8 or something along those lines), landscape texting, picture messaging, and forth. i heard rumors of a "iPhone Pro" which was pretty much just a 32gb iphone. But that has been it so far. Apple has done its best to keep everyone in the dark.
