Re: I have decided to get the LG VX4500. If you have it, please help me.

in the LG forum

I love the phone. I have its predecessor, the 4400. It plays MiDi tones, but not MP3's. Look out for the screen contrst. Some of the phones have been known to be too light in contrast. The phone should be set at 50% contrast and be easy to see. Good luck!

Re: New StarTAC???
Dec 10, 2004, 7:19 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Lol. Relax guys... the Motorola Rep I spoke to a recent VZW Launch told me that Verizon will be carrying a new version of the StarTAC. Whether it looks similar to this one, I cant be sure. My boss held one in his hand. Its coming... patience!

Re: T-Mobile & Sprint Merger. When will it happen?.
Dec 10, 2004, 7:05 PM

Is anyone aware that Verizon has an established history of buying up pieces of Alltel? Already, a customer can bring an Alltel phone to VZW and have it activated.

Re: New Verizon Phones?

in the Rumor Mill forum

Actually, when i spoke to a Motorola rep at a recent CTIA convention, he told me that one of the phones that they are releasing will be a version of the ever-popular StarTAC phone. Its supposed to have the same basic look, but the battery will be internal, instead.

Re: CDM-9900 VS. LG VX-8000
Dec 10, 2004, 6:37 PM
in the LG VX-8000 forum

I'd love to see some literature on "extra charges for EVDO" cause I haven't seen anything that would indicate an extra charge. As far as charging to upload and download pictures, the phone is supposed to come with a USB cable included. The only charges you should get is when you send a picture from the phone b/c you cant get home to send it from the comp.

Re: Should I wait???
Jun 8, 2004, 11:13 AM
in the LG forum

I spoke to the LG boys at the CTIA convention in Altlanta a few months ago and they told me to expect the VX8000 to be out in June. Thats from the horse's mouth. Regardless, both the 8000 and 7000 have better pixel quality than the 6000. Patience young grasshopper.

Re: Should I wait???
Jun 5, 2004, 12:05 PM
in the LG forum

As a VZW salesman I would never recommend waiting, but.... the LG VX8000 is a sweet phone that is poised to come out sometime this month. Thats th phone I'm holding out for.

Re: Accessories work on any other phone?
Jun 5, 2004, 12:03 PM
in the LG forum

Unfortuntely, none of the current phones are compatible with the accessories you mentioned. Currently, all the LG phones offered by VZW use the same vehicle charger, but they are not compatible with the 510.

Re: Which is the REAL successor to the VX-6000
Jun 5, 2004, 11:56 AM
in the LG forum

I attended the CTIA convention two months ago in Atlanta and the boys from LG told me to expect the vx8000 to come from VZW next in June. I expect that with the 8000 coming out, it will have to be the true successor to the 6000. the others may follow.

Re: Verizon not #1 anymore. Or Are they?
Feb 28, 2004, 11:12 AM
in the Verizon forum

you cannot butt super-impose or butt-up the at&tw map and the cingular map because, as it was mentioned earlier, Cingular is planning on selling portions of AT&TW's coverage area to recoop some of the costs of the merger.

Just so you know, all the carriers will be eventually switching to WCDMA which puts those on CDMA that much closer to the switch. GSM carriers have to contend with several upgrades and switches to get to WCDMA. China, Korea, Japan, USA, and Eastern Europe use CDMA, by the way.

Ive not nlocked a phone myself. However, i believe you can find a hak program on the internet and use a USB connection kit to access the phone and "unflash" it.

Re: LG4400/6000 question
Feb 28, 2004, 10:07 AM
in the LG forum

First of all, it is never recommended that you talk on the phone while it is plugged in at the bottom of the phone. Using it while plugged in runs the risk of damage to the connection port. With that said, YES you can use a 4400 or 6000 while it is on its "cradle" charger. It actually causes no harm or risk to the connetion port b/c it does not contact in that manner.

Re: Any Lg vx3100 user ?
Jan 3, 2004, 4:09 PM
in the Verizon forum

I take it, the reason you bought the v60s is for the speaker phone. With any speaker phone, the battery is drained more-so than a regular phone. The phone should be charged every night and it is also recommended that you buy an extended life battery. The LG VX 3100 does not have an external caller ID, does not have an Analog chipset, does not have a speaker phone, holds fewer contacts, and has no voice activation feature. If ...

Re: 8900 recall
Dec 21, 2003, 10:49 AM
in the Verizon forum

Actually, both you and the rep are correct! This recall is being handled by regions. I cater to three different regions and I can tell you that two regions have stated that all 8900's are to be returned and replaced with 6000's and the other region has stated that customers will be able to recieve a flashed update to software glitches. This aside, VZW has also pulled the Kyocera 7135 smartphone. Again, two regions handling it one way while ...

no thats not true, at all. depending on how "so-so" your credit is, you may be asked to pay a security deposit. Usually, if someone has not so nice credit they will require a deposit of $400. You would get this deposit back after your 13th billing cycle plus interest.

if your phone was originally a pre-paid phone then it has a subsedy lock on it and you have to obtain the code from your carrier. if it locked at the start screen, try the last four number of the phone number on the phone.

Odds are that your phone never really switches to analog in the first place. Analog is only really a concern for those living on the western half of the US. Almost the whole east coast is all digital. I really dont think you'll miss analog one bit.

Re: 4400B
Dec 2, 2003, 12:15 AM

The 4400B does not have a speaker phone people. I have one in my hand right now. NO SPEAKER PHONE ! What it does habe is a gun-metal blue face and software updates making it compatible for LNP and more.

where do you live? which state and city? From everyhing i've heard, the 4500 does have a speaker phone, yes.

Its surprising you have held onto the 2235 this long. Its got a long history of problems with the screen and such. My advice to you is that if the Kyocera is working out for you right now, hold off on getting a new phone until the 4500 comes out. It will be well worth the wait, especially coming from a 2235. lol. :D

If by "news" you mean "do I know a release date?" , I have no news. I wont know about the release date until about a week before it hits the public. I can tell you I'm looking forward to seeing how the 4500 and 4600's fair in the publics' eye. They are sweet phones, but not very attractive. What phone do you have right now? btw.

Re: Verizon Phone with best low end reception
Dec 1, 2003, 11:52 PM
in the Verizon forum

If its reception you're worried about, you'll want to use a tri-mode phone. These phones still have an analog chipset in them. They search for a digital signal first and upon not finding one, switch to analog. Sprint only uses 1900Mhz PCS so any phone Verizon has will give you better reception than what you're used to.

Re: Replacement Policy

I've actually seen the StarTAC replaced with either a v60i or the T720. Typically, its the v60 they give you, but who knows.

Re: verizon & gsm?
Dec 1, 2003, 11:44 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Well said... I was considering chiming in on this one, but it seems you have said all there is to be said. With all the carriers progressing on to WCDMA, GSM must hop to EDGE before jumping over to WCDMA. CDMA makes one small hop to the homeland.

Re: New Verizon plans?
Dec 1, 2003, 11:38 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Verizon will definitely not be changing their Nights & Weekends start time in the near future. Studies have shown that peak airtime usage occurs between 6 and 8 and trickles off at about 9pm. With this in mind, it is not economical to shorten the starting time. As far as other promos go, they will not be changing for the rest of the year.

The diffrence between the 4400 and 4400B is the color of the phone and a feww software updates. Thats it.

Re: tri mode v dual
Nov 24, 2003, 7:56 PM
in the Verizon forum

Just so there's no confusion.... you wouldn't be switching to a dual-mode phone. You would be switching to a dual-band phone. A dual-band phone picks up both CDMA 800Mhz and PCS 1900Mhz digital signals. The truth of the matters is that if you are in an area that still switches to analog mode every now and then, you may notice a difference. You would simply not have service in analog areas because a digital only phone has no analog ...

Re: YOU THINK LNP WILL BE LIFE SAVER FOR CELL COMPANIES?
Nov 23, 2003, 9:54 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Not the most educated statement ive heard. In actuality, when the feds mandated LNP, all the wireless companies were fighting it tooth and nail. There is no conspiracy here! In fact, it is costing the companies millions of dollars a year. That is why many companies are charging new fees for LNP. I know, however, for a fact that VZW will not charge any customer any new fees for porting their #. Why would the companies fight this new ...

Re: Cingular Merger
Nov 23, 2003, 9:44 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Ever wonder why Cingular is grasping at straws trying to expand? Could it be that once LNP is implimented, Cingular is in deep trouble along with Sprint? Only the strong will survive and Verizon has over 37 million customers. The next company below them has 23 million. Ha! No GSM company will ever be #1 in the USA.

Re: CAN SOMEONE HELP ME??
Nov 23, 2003, 9:24 PM
in the LG forum

How long have you had your phone? How long have you been a VZW customer? How much do you pay per month? These are all questions that are taken into consideration by a salesman at VZW. If you pay $59.99 or more per month and are close to atleast one year, then a new phone can be yours at promotional pricing provided you dont give up so easy. A VZW salesman has the power of GOD when it comes ...

Re: VX4400 vs. T730
Nov 23, 2003, 9:20 PM
in the Verizon forum

Well, let's compare... Both phones have basically the same features except that the 8600 has a built-in speaker phone. Thats all well and good, but what are you looking for in a phone? The 8600 is alot more narrow and feminine-looking. When I hold one, I'm always afraid I'm gonna break it. Dainty! I tend to stay away from audiovox because of their customer service. They arent willing to cover anything under their warantees and my customers seem to ...

Re: VX4400 vs. T730
Nov 16, 2003, 12:12 AM
in the Verizon forum

I have used the 4400 since its launch and continue to sell it to my customers. If I can offer yet another angle... When comparing the 4400 to the 720, I can say that from a warantee standpoint, the 720 is consistently sent back for repair and replacement whereas the 4400 is hardly ever sent out. Granted the improvements are vast in reguards to the newer 730 model, I am also sceptical. Go with the 4400, bro. P.S. Be aware ...
