NOT to start a flame war but. Whenever I bought any anything that consumer reports tested, it always worked for me. I have had several different carriers since 1996, and if consumers reports test show something isn't right my research shows that consumers reports spoke the truth.
Yes did a survey of 39,000 people, there will always be SOMEBODY to disagree with the results.

I could use some help and some advice....
I am currently a CDMA customer. But I am thinking to switching to Cingular next month. I have been to our local Cingular store here Gainesville, Fl. 32614. The sales person I spoke to here wasn't very acknowledgeable of the service here in north central fl. Can anybody tell me if Cingular has "overlaping coverage" from Lake City to Gainesville to Ocala to Orlando to Cape Caneveral, all these cities are all here in central part of Fl. Tower ...

I too am a Verizon customer. I have a 1 year contract that is up in 1/05. And I can think of 5 reasons to leave Verizon. Here they are:
1) Lack of selection of phones. They take forever in testing. so they say. I've wanted the LG VX-8000 camera phone and I'm done waiting. I'll go else where for selection.
2) There is no SIM card, so you can't change phones on ...

I am interested in the Nassua and Suffolk counties of Long Island, New York. Cingular map says it's covered, but does anyone who lives in these two areas have first hand info in quality and coverage.
Though I have Verizon now, (3 months left) before I dump Verizon I like to know if Cingular is the way to go.

I have to agree here. My service with Verizon is up 1/05. If by that time there aren't any quality new phones available, I'll go to GSM.
Verizon takes forever to get "new phones" and their plans cost more and they give less minutes on their America's Choice Plan.
As for coverage, GSM is close to par with CDMA. I don't live in the "outback".

Hi schnozejt, I did call cust service but they wouldn't tell me how to search for the towers. They didn't want to tell me how they find out themselves. I would rather pull the map up myself than having to wonder if the person on the other side of the phone is being truthful.

I have an interesting question. I have been to the T-Mobile store and to a Cingular store. I asked them both if a certain city had a tower either in or very near to where I to a street that I was interested in. They showed where their towers were, and I even knew where the nearest street to the tower was.

I live here in gainesville, I have ATTWS TDMA service and it works great. I know they are planning to away with TDMA, but does anyone know when?

I understand that no carrier is perfect, but some carriers have less complaints than others. From the forums I have read, sprint and ATTWS have a lot of unhappy customers.
But there are probably a lot of people who see the other side of the coin.

I have TDMA in this area, and it is still considered a "Extended Area". Anybody hear about GSM from ATTWS coming to this area? Or should I just go with Verizon CDMA?

I agree with johnstonhurd 100%, attws has been taking a beating. Their csr are okay, it's their policy's is their down fall.
Verizon is my first choice, all the other carriers would be tied for last.

Can someone tell me how verizon coverage is from Ocala to Gainesville to Lake City, Florida?
I have heard a lot of bad things, like ATTWS doesn't have coverage in these areas. And T-Mobile is okay along I-75, Cingular lost a law suit for 12 million dollars. And Sprint has the worst costumer service.
That leaves me with Verizon. If you can help me in this matter, I would be grateful.
