Re: Holy Sh!t.
When Cingular and AT&T Wireless came together they had the same problem. Stores were closed after a few months, and no front line employees immediately lost their job, unless there was a history. People did leave of their own choosing either early on or after a period, but, many were probably thinking about it anyway.
Re: Ordinarily, I wouldn't take the time out of my day
had a crazy old coot about 11 years ago tell me he knew as much, or more than me because he had a relative that worked in the industry.
My response was, I have a relative that is a doctor, would you want me to do brain surgery on you?
Then he preceded to tell me what a rip-off roaming charges were because he didn't get roaming charges on his home phone.
Bad Idea
No, this is a bad idea.
Depending on where you are at in your contract, it requires a 2 year renewal from the date you sign. With the pricing, in most cases you're better off paying the additional $100 and not extending your contract at all. I worked for Cingular/AT&T for many years and left a couple of years ago. Once AT&T took over they just don't get it. They are trying to run ...
Re: If I had a time machine...
Hey, I know you. Can't believe you're still at that place.
But I agree with you. Maybe not the first thing I would do, but, it's in the top 10.
Not Working
Anyone else having trouble with this?
I downloaded/installed the plug-in and when I log into Gmail there still isn't anything to allow me to place a call. Have tried with both Firefox and Chrome.
Re: if u told a cust that the
So several years ago, a spoiled 13 year old girl comes in with her smelly, overweight father who is rrarely in town as he travels for work. Holds up her phone which was $350 when discounted and $500 when not. Back when people rarely paid $50 for a phone because a phone was a phone back then.
"My phone's not working. You have to give me another one!"
My question: "What happened to it?"
"Nothing." ...
Re: scariest time's at work
Yeah, you were there.
Re: Who's the dumb one now?
Include some frequency grease.
Re: scariest time's at work
Just a few months ago, about April 8th. Was on the phone and look up and about 8 or 10 county sheriff deputies were walking around. Everyone else was standing up. I know a bunch of the deputies and one came over and I asked what was going on. He said "shhh, boom" indicating a bomb threat. They didn't close the center and made everyone stay on the phones.
Who's the dumb one now?
It's not the customer's fault. You couldn't find it. You should have known it's a "Cyberick". Duh. It has intuhnet on it.
Re: No Your the Idiot
About 5 years or so ago I had a customer blame Ronald Reagan for having to pay a deductible for her insurance. So, 2003, let's blame Ronald Reagan. He was President of these ole' United States from 1980 to 1988. There's a 15 year gap between his presidency and her deductible. Naturally, I asked her how she could blame Reagan and her reply "you know exactly why!" Actually, I have NOT a clue. ...
Re: iPhone KILLER
Back when AT&T launched the Bold 9000 they announced it in May and didn't launch until November 4th. So, being a big Blackberry fan myself I've decided to look very closely at Captivate. Cannot wait for the current reviews with the full processor.
Re: no!!!
After the first month you can then decide if you want the feature or not. We won't take it off, however, because it is required, but, you can decide if you want to have it or not, but, keep it anyway.
Re: So here's how it went
The silence when I was telling her was GOLDEN!
So here's how it went
Me: Thank you for calling ***** and how can I help you?
SCREAMING CUSTY: #*@(#@ I am not talking to you! Who was I just talking to? Why was I transferred to you?
Me: I don't know, but, what's your problem and how can I help you?
STILL SCREAMING CUSTY: @(@)*(#@@ I want a supervisor! I am not telling you!
Me: I would really like to help you, so please if you could ...
Re: To be honest...
Then customers should know what their local tax rates are and do the math.
Re: Voice & Data while on 4G - bye bye AT&T
AT&T never stated that only they could do it, just that Verizon couldn't, which they cannot. T-Mobile has been able to do it since it launched 3G.
Re: Fail
How did we voice our displeasure of something before the term "fail" became so popular?
Some people for different reasons do not want an iPhone. Some people for different reasons would rather not purchase refurbished (aka used) phones. Some people for different reasons enjoy the multitasking capability of a specific phone.
I agree that the $150 is a bit high when you consider Verizon is selling essentially the same phone for less. I like that it is including ...
Re: i feel weird
Wish i had the link, but, probably 6 or 7 years ago there was a Dilbert comic where they were on a conference call and discovered that someone was in the bathroom. The pointy haired boss then was showing with his administrative assistance and a ruler and he was saying something like "Now his the hang-up button and then throw the ruler away" It was really funny.
BESX
Does anyone have any experience with the new BESX software for small businesses?

What's with the pictures of a Blackberry Flip in the Bold 9650 page?
Re: is this good or bad?
It helps carriers that do not invest in their network in areas where they own the rights to specific radio frequencies. Where is the encouragement to actually build their own network?
Re: Need some TMO Even More Plus expertise...
Actually, it's not an Even More Plus question, but, rather a FlexPay question.
The answer: It depends.
If it is a flexpay monthly account you have 90 days from the day was suspended until the line cancels if there is no usage. Now, if you use any minutes or have any activity out of your flex account, it will continue indefinitely, so long as you have money in your flex account.
If it is a flexpay annual account you have ...
Re: and SEC have authority??
Not trying to be negative, but, are you from the US? You repeated formated your money in 100$, when standard conventions in the US formats it $100.
Re: Is addition that hard?
You can calculate fairly close. If they have a charge that is $9.99 and tax is 32 cents, so totals $10.31, you take the $10.31 and divide by $9.99 and get 1.032323232 etc // so you take the 1.0323 and multiply by the total, so if the total charges is $73.95 equals $76.32, you add other carrier fees and round up a dollar or two.
Re: Stupid customer questions
OK, how about this one? Granted the customer was foreign, however, did speak pretty good English.
He was trying to set-up an non-carrier phone to use with his account and I was giving him the internet settings.

Re: Best one liners from Customers
How about a customer complaining that she always drops her calls at one specific place, waaaay out in the woods. Then another customer who was standing nearby turns to me and says "I have some tools in my truck, let's go build the B*#$*@tch a tower so she shuts up"
Anyone remember?
Does anyone remember about 5 or 6 years ago when Motorola was testing a cell phone that woulid "mildly shock" the user instead of the vibration mode? They decided that if a phone was on a table, say in a meeting and it went off that the vibration still caused it to make noise and that if they changed it to the mild "tingling" with electricity that it would be more silent?
I wonder what ever happened to that ...
Re: the long term cust.
Had customers tell me they have been with us for 30 or 40 years. Really? Cell phones didn't even exist then. This company didn't exist then.
Re: Because
I bought the Backflip when it came out just to get a hands-on idea of Android and to get something new. I know I have 30 days to return it and most likely will. I like the Backflip more than I thought I would. Motoblur is OK, I am not into Facebook and Myspace, but, I really do like the news widgets the most. What I don't like most about it is the somewhat slow ...
Because
the reason it is not available with a subsidized contract price is that in my opinion, AT&T would not allow Google to have the ability to do the contracts if they could not control it and fill it with their unnecessary apps.
Be Careful What You Wish For
As someone who has worked in the wireless industry for over 10 years, with three of the four major US carriers, and who remembers the days before text messaging was possible, this is interesting.
All of the companies for the past several years have pushed Data sales and usage, since minute plans had reached a point of break-even and were no longer profitable. Data was suppose to be where new profits would come from.
Now this.
AT&T carries twice the data ...
Re: How hard is it to comprehend that..
OK, so how about a call at 5 minutes after midnight and the caller states "they told me to call back in 24 hours and it's tomorrow". They originally spoke at about 6 pm. I said "24 hours" is not the same as "tomorrow". Yes, it is "tomorrow", however 24 hours has not passed.
Re: I Can't Beleive This Actually Just Happened!
Had this same exact thing probably 7 years ago, except it wasn't a touch screen (they didn't really exist) and it was an old guy. He would start a call, and press 'Mute'. I told him AT LEAST 10 times that the button was for "if you want to mute the call" and had him place a call and then tell him "don't hit MUTE" and watch him press "mute". If the finger moves again, I ...
Patents
I am going to patent the letters 'A', 'E', 'I', and 'O'. So if anyone uses them from now on, you must pay me a nickel.
My Plan
I'll get the Backflip because I have very much wanted an Android phone for quite a while. The Backflip is OK, but, not impressed with the Processor, MotoBlur is cool.
But, what I will likely do is buy one and then if I do not like it, or another quality Android comes out (Mini 5? at a decent price) I have 30 days to return or exchange it. So, I'll be happy either way.
Re: I swear...
As someone who worked in retail stores for several different wireless providers for over 10 years, and now have worked in a customer care call center for two years, I have seen both sides.
Direct retail seem to be better, more helpful, and vastly more knowledgable. Though not always the case.
Yes, working in a store you have quotas and get paid commission. However, working in a call center, we don't get paid as much, have to ...
So?
If I understand this correctly, it is essentially old-school, finger-based "Graffiti" like Palm devices used 8 years ago?
Re: Huh?
Exactly. If you look back Verizon currently is a combination of past companies such as Bell Atlantic, Airtouch, parts of CellularOne, parts of GTE MobileNet, Primus, parts of Dobson, and others. AT&T is Cingular, AT&T Wireless, parts of Dobson, parts of Cellular One, and others.
It's a matter of larger eating up smaller to become even larger. It just seems that everyone only remembers the most recent and forgets the past.
Re: Will Google buy the US division?
I had this thought as well, and liked it.
However, it would be conflict of interest then in regards to Android and the OS running on other carriers, such as VZ, Sprint, AT&T, so I HIGHLY doubt that it would happen.
