Re: Does anyone here realize....
Thumbs up! We need a "like" button on here. And why anyone would argue that a corporation should be able to limit the web as if it were the long arm of China is beyond me.
Re: I agree
You do know that the FCC and Congress works for us right? They are not boogie men looking to take over the world.
Re: This is news?
Since the Linux/Meamo 5 on the N900 came out supporting flash a lot of other OS's have been scrambling to make flash support happen. Most have flash support in development that have release dates slated for mid 2010. Bill Gates must not have got the memo and Steve Jobs along with his big mouth are going to be a bit late to the table.
Re: I want one!
I had seen a screen that produced extraordinary color depth but thy wouldn't say anything else besides it would be on a phone announced at WMC. I would be willing to bet it's this phone. The only bad part I see with this phone would be third party support for the O.S. like app development, plug-ins and flash support. Hopefully Samsung has all those ducks in a row otherwise it'll kill sales on an otherwise great phone. I'm sure ...
That's it?
Is it just me or did the new phones being previewed at CES 2010 seem blah? There's nothing real exciting.
Re: AT&T
I don't have any first hand knowledge of the speed difference other than what I've seen posted by AT&T users of the N900 using speedtest.net compared to the IPhone 3GS but I see no reason these users would lie about the speed difference and say it was minimal if it really wasn't. You also need to remember that unless you live in a metro area or larger city it doesn't matter anyway because chances are you are not going ...
Re: WCDMA 1700
Yea was thinking it was a different thread. :D It's common for carrier to disable third party apps. and other functions of phones that they do not approve of. A lot of times features that are available on an unlocked phone are not there on branded phones. What people call dumb phones are capable of doing what most smart phones can in unlocked versions. If you need an example the 5610 would be a good one of hardware ...
Re: WCDMA 1700
No... I'm not confused. AT&T uses WCDMA 850Mhz/1900Mhz frequency band for 3G. T-Mobile devices use the WCDMA 1700Mhz/2100Mhz frequency band for 3G and it is specific to T-Mobile. You will not be able to roam with your T-Mobile 3G device on another carrier's 3G network. Check the specs on any 3G phone for either network. Google frequency bands for each 3G network. Go to TMO or AT&T 3G FAQ pages.
Re: AT&T
Yea sounds weird right? WCMDA is what GSM networks use for their 3G networks. If you look up any of the AT&T 3G phones on here you'll see it listed.
Re: WCDMA 1700
I've heard people say that many times but there is really no hope in TMO picking this up. TMO likes to hack up phones until it barely resembles the original unlocked version. With a Linux OS, unless they started removing hardware too, they wouldn't be too successful.
Re: AT&T
All you have to do is stick in your SIM card. This phone is only sold unlocked. The phone will work for AT&T although it doesn't have WCDMA 850 band so you will get only get the 2G data speeds. But from what I've heard from people that have received this phone and are using it on AT&T, they can't even tell the difference. It doesn't say much for 3G but most 2G networks are actually 2.5G so there ...
Re: Downloading or creating themes
Go directly to the SE website to fun and downloads. You can get plenty of themes for free. They are always adding more.
Re: t-mobile and the W810i
Sony doesn't have the US T-Mobile settings on their site anymore. You can get them directly from T-Mobile.

Opera Mini with the 5610?
I'm considering this phone as a replacement for my Sony W810. Can anyone tell me if 3rd party apps like Opera Mini and Google maps be used on a T-Mobile branded phone? Also does this get good reception for a TMO phone? My home is in a low coverage area and some of their phones do poorly in low coverage areas where others excel.
