you need to learn to tell the difference between specifications and performance ratings
if you just look as specification the storm looks fine...but if you look at their performance review of the device they slam it.

they are sold out because they only delivered 20-25 units to most stores that should have received 200-300 units
they are backordered because of serious stability issues with the phones they have made so far
wake up...a sticker printing mistake did not cause the slow release.

e-trade is not a true brokerage company. they are a simple financial service. they are a go between for privately initiated purchase and sale of stocks.
they are pretty much just an application that allows you to buy and sell. they are a penny stock company.

For the tasks you mentioned, the iPhone is unsurpassed in performance. No other phone even comes close. You cannot understand how inadequate other phones truly are when it comes to multimedia use until after you have owned an iPhone. The iPhone is made by a computer company and it a mini computer first and foremost with a good phone built into it. Other phones are just phones trying to imitate computer functions.

Storm has a 3.2" vertical measurement and the iPhone is 3.5" for a difference of .3" diagonally. That adds up to about .24" horizontally.

One ray of sunshine from this update is that they did manage to improve the accelerometer issue to a small degree. Which means the issue is software and not hardware. That means that once they release a truly "new" software, and not a scaled down and slightly debugged version of the old, they should be able to fix the problems. Look for that sometime in february.

Some are angry because a company they like and trust pulled this on them. Others are just low level VZW reps trolling boards and trying to maintain damage control and give the appearance that not everyone is having the problems you are having. Verizon and T-Mobile are the worst for sending out the trolls.

I and a friend both downloaded the updates last night. Another friend cannot yet since he is on Mac. Hopefully OTA will be available soon. It took 25 minutes on my phone and was easy to do. It only took 10 minutes on my friends for some reason.
Results?
-The lag while opening applications is a little shorter but still much longer than it should be.
-The accelerometer is still slow but does not seem to flip the page at ...

The iPhone would be the best choice for you. The Storm has a slightly higher resolution, but it is not really noticeable to the naked eye. The higher resolution of the Storm does you little good anyway since it does a horrible job playing internet based video. the videos look blurry, pixelated, and choppy. Also, the iPhone has the largest screen of the three. That extra 1/4 length makes a big difference when reading web pages.

Getting three was no problem what-so-ever. We have 26 lines (at last count) through Verizon and pay them over $2500.00 a month in service fees. We have no problems getting what we want.
This phone is a failure as it stands. Only you and one or two other people are trying to skew that fact.

I just went in to see if they had received their working Omnia yet and I was told the same thing. The store manager was telling an employee that RIM and VZW have decided that it might be better for their reputation and more cost effective to do a recall on these phones until fixes can be made. The massive amounts of returns and service requests is really hurting them. That might puch the Dec. 15th date for new ...

So, he clearly states he tried it before he bought it and that it had serious problems. That is pretty consistent with what all the professional reviewers are saying too. So many of them are making a point to say that the phone is so bad that they hated it within the first 15 minutes. The flaws are so obvious that many websites are questioning how RIM ever let this device get past beta.

Every single review of this phone has harped on the lag. I have three of these phones and they all lag badly.
It is odd that a couple people on here claim that they have very little lag. I am starting to think some people have an invested interest in trying to prevent this phone from failing so badly (which it is by the way..there was just a podcast last ...

Changing those setting does nothing to stop the lag. The lag is a software engrained issue and increasing screen sensitivity and other stop gap methods do not change that.

You tube is not needed for a business phone. Blackberries are business phones. I do not even care about mp3 players or any other type of video.
What I want is a fast and reliable software and a fast accurate means of entering text. The Storm gives you neither of these things.
