New user needs help - ringtones

I'm a complete novice with any phone other than a Motorola KRZR. I can create my own ringtones, but I can't get them onto my new Quickfire. I can't download files to the phone via bluetooth or get the phone to find my ringtones on my SD card (they're on the card as both .wav and .mp3, but the phone shows my SD card as empty). Can someone help?
