Re: Anyone know when it'll be at ATT?
being an at&t employee doesn't get me too much insider knowledge. i usually rely on boygeniusreport to figure out when i'll be seeing phones in my store.
that being said our RIM rep was in the store the other day and stated that t-mobile usually gets the pearl models before other carriers. who knows if that will stay true.
i'd say we'd have it by mid to late summer. but that is just a guess.
Re: In Store
google isn't planning on selling it in stores. they're only selling it online.
Re: Two questions on Backflip (contacts and delete messages)
also to bring up the virtual keyboard with the phone closed shut, hold down the menu key and it will pop up.
Re: Warning...for anyone who buys this phone regarding HISTORY TXTS PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, ETC
a radio signal? thats it?
ok well then tell me how well your phone works without the AT&T sim card.
i mean, they would provide that right? where else could you possibly get that from?
and the entire IMEI thing...I guess if you own a blackberry and don't give AT&T your IMEI then how would they know what data plan to apply? you could put an iPhone data plan on there however you won't have access to BIS. Then what is ...
Re: Anybody know if mms & inernet would work on a Motorola Milestone on ATT?
i was upset about yahoo being placed on there. however i just deleted the widget and made google my homepage on the browser. gives me the same effect.
i like the backflip. its not a terrible phone. i would like the bloatware off, i honestly hate that.
but for a non phone geek it will do the job just fine. i would just like something snappier, like a HTC desire or an N1. we'll see ...
Re: This man deserves a round of applause!!!
i work at a retailer and we just got permission to sell the iPhone in store TODAY. I have a demo unit and everything. I was kinda shocked. But i have every model in stock ready to go
Re: Can not download app's from outside the market place
i gotcha. so you can install from the memory card but not run the app from the memory card.
that makes more sense
thanks
Re: Camera?
its on the keyboard, bottom left hand corner. you can take pictures using the full touchscreen as your viewing area. or you can flip it out and it makes the phone perfect for a self portrait.
Re: Can not download app's from outside the market place
wouldn't installing an app from the memory card require rooting the device?
as i understand it you cannot install apps from a memory card nor can you store them there.
Re: Warning...for anyone who buys this phone regarding HISTORY TXTS PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, ETC
permanent history? i used one to demo for a customer yesterday in my store. once i was done using it (made a few calls, sent a text or two) i did a complete wipe. nothing was left on the phone after that.
and i've sinced purchased the phone. i've sent easily over 300 texts and deleted the ones i didn't need afterwards. i've not seen any history of them or anything like that.
so i'm not exactly ...
Re: Can not download app's from outside the market place
i just got ride of that search widget. i set my browser's homescreen to google.com and it does the same effect for myself.
however it is quite foolish to take google off of a google phone. i'm not a big fan of that move.
Re: GoogleMaps (GPS) and talking on phone same time???
yes that is true. but lets say you need the gps for driving around. maybe on an interstate. i'm not too familiar with any interstates with WiFi haha
Re: GoogleMaps (GPS) and talking on phone same time???
AT&T's 3G network can do voice and data at the same time. so you can get your turn by turn navigation while also being on a call at the same time.
I would guess T-Mobile's would do this as well. But figuring their 3G is sparse at best it might not play out too well.
Re: Awesome, too!
no the white bold is the 9000 which was originally launched last november. this is an entire new phone, the 9700.
Re: Experiences from early buyers?
DO NOT go to wal*mart. they will mess your account up. i cannot tell you how many times i help customers who went to wal*mart and had a senior citizens plan or extra features that didn't want. also many times wal*mart will activate a new phone for a customer in a completely different area code than the customer's home area code for some reason. they DO NOT know what they are doing.
especially stay away from ...
Re: Experiences from early buyers?
don't deal with online. go to a store. just make sure you know what you want and don't let them haggle you.
Re: going out of business
what i don't understand is that wal*mart can sell the iPhone. My manager and I went their on seperate occasions to see how they sold. both times we were told we could have the '$30 a month plan' which is a plan designed for people 65 an older. At my store we require a physical ID to put any person on that plan however wal*mart does it with every person it seems. They also told ...
Re: Borrringg
what phones had 3meg cameras 3 years ago? what phone could video edit 3 years ago? i'd like to know what these devices are because i've never heard of them.
the camera seems plausible. the video editing does not seem possible at all on ANY mobile device that was made 3 years ago.
you do realize that EVERY electronics company comes out with 'upgrades' every single year. Blackberry does it, LG, Samsung, etc etc. ...
Re: The Same
yes it is unlimited...but sprints website says you will get charged for it. i was kinda shocked to know a major carrier still charges roaming.
Re: Borrringg
phones five years ago did not have 3.0meg cameras with auto focus. Nor does any phone (to my knowledge) have a minor video editing capablities.
i agree some of the software updates like MMS and Voice Dialing are seemingly outdated. But its better late than never in my opinion. Apple likes to do things their way and make sure the design and UI looks very smooth and easy to use. so i'll take it. ...
Re: HA HA! TAKE THAT PALM PRE!!
i said it could show the popularity of a device.
Re: The Same
sprints website seems to indicate that roaming minutes are NOT included in your unlimited plan. as well as if your phone is used as a modem then the cap is enforced there.
i stand corrected on the cap. apologies.
Re: The Same
sprint can't do voice and data at once. as well as depending on your location their service can be quite terrible. i know in my area is absolute crap. but you have your opinion. just make sure you don't go over your 5GB data cap...
Re: HA HA! TAKE THAT PALM PRE!!
i never said that it did. all i'm saying is that simply saying something is sold out may or may not warrant its popularity and/or quality
Re: The Same
you do realize that ALL PDA ('smartphones') have the same data plan correct? Blackberies, Samsung Jack, Nokia e71, etc. They all have a $30 per month data plan because those phones use data more heavily than other phones.
I don't see how it sucks when Verizon is also the same prices for the same caliber of phones.
Re: HA HA! TAKE THAT PALM PRE!!
selling out of 50k units doesn't show much. there were supply problems for almost all locations selling the pre this weekend.
if i own one of something and sell it then i'm sold out. so it doesn't have much weight unless its a very substantially amount in my opinion
Re: going out of business
i work at a retailer and i dont hate people with iPhones. I use one myself. I wish i sold it but i won't hold it against someone for buying it. I'm happy to help with any iPhone issues but even if you goto a corp store where they sell the phone many times they will tell you to go to an apple store b/c apple handles most all hardware problems with the device. before ...
Re: "There's an app for that..."
i understand the battery problem is an issue for many people. But in all 11-12 phones i've owned in the past 5 years i've NEVER once had an issue with a battery crapping out. Maybe i'm lucky or whatever. but i just dont see that being a big issue.
and actually i think that batteries that are actually built into a device offer longer usage(hence the macbook pro that has a much longer battery life ...
Re: "There's an app for that..."
i understand. i have rarely seen any buggy issues at all. and if i do its a one time situation and it doesn't happen again. i've had more bugs with my bold actually. LED won't stop flashing without a hard reset. I can't 'click' on the sms/mms icon (i had to use my soft key on the right side of the phone). It was kind of annoying. But to each his/her own.
the commercials ...
Re: "There's an app for that..."
i'm not trying to play a fanboy or favor one side nor the other. I'm just curious, how does your curve blow the iPhone out of the water? I'd understand the no video capture, no flash on the camera, no MMS support, no turn by turn GPS directions. But what else blows it out of the water?
Re: U.S. release
what reception issue are you talking about? my manager and I BOTH have unlocked e71s on AT&T's network and they work flawlessly. i haven't had one dropped call and have service everywhere (in my area of course) with no problem.
Re: New iPhone in June or update? Turn by turn directions anyone?
to the guy that works for at&t, you must not keep up much with any gadget blogs or rumor sites. gizmodo.com, engadget.com, boygeniusreport.com have all found different little things in the 3.0 software that indicate new hardware will be forthcoming. there have been various rumor and leaked reports saying there will be new hardware. i'm just kinda curious what your sources are.
to the original poster: i would wait for the summer. i understand that everything ...
Re: ugly little thing..
durability comes with a price. i think the phone looks as good as it can, especially with all those extra features that keep it a strong built to last phone.
Re: NOOO WAY!! Sorry guys!
well you both have valid points in my opinion.
it was disclosed that at&t and apple DID sign a 5 year exclusivity contract for the iPhone. Now what apple and verizon could do is making a tablet/netbook type device with a verizon 3g card preinstalled. This would not effect the iPhone agreement in any way shape or form.
or they cold make the iPhone 'Lite' or something goofy. Either way Apple is going to win because both carriers ...
Re: MY opinion of the biggest problem for each of the 4 major!
kayslay all wizard did is read your statement. you said you work 45-50 hours a week and you get free cell service. you didn't include any other payments or perks, so all he/she could go by was your statement that was so poorly created.
the main issue i have with your 'rant', is that at&t and verizon charge the same for the same if not identical plans. at least they did when i checked last month. ...
Re: Doesn't Google Latitude do the same thing at NO extra cost?
i'm pretty sure google latitude doesn't update unless you open the program up. kids could easily just not use it while they go out.
i could be wrong but i've used latitude very briefly. also, google maps means the person has to download the program using the phone's internet. some lower end phones may not support it also. the ATT family locator can find any phone, regardless of specs; as long as it has reception (or so i assume).
once again ...
Re: Poor internet graphics quality
i haven't had any problems with mine. what websites are you going to? and which browswer are you using?
This phone....
IS THE BEST PHONE I HAVE EVER OWNED!!!!1!!!! :D
Re: In the video comparing the e71 and the e71x...
oh i gotcha, yeah i've used snaptu. i wasn't a big fan. i'm using widsets now along with browsing the website via opera mini. i got so accustomed to my blackberry facebook app and was hoping there was something similar for an s60 device. hopefully some developers can make one
In the video comparing the e71 and the e71x...
I saw a facebook icon on the unbranded phone's home screen. I wasn't aware there was a facebook app for s60. May i ask how you got it or what it is exactly? I've been having some trouble finding my best source for quick facebook action on my new e71
thanks
