I went to Kentucky to visit friends once and one of them got their phone wet so I asked what he did to try and fix it and he said he had put it in the oven lol only it didn't work for him! I laughed so hard and when I came home I told everyone about it

Yea they have you do this so that it refreshes all of the towers because when you drive around you are constantly changing towers and by powering it off it researches for all the nearest ones in case your phone was not communicating with them.
