The reason carriers think that is what the customers want is because that is what the customers buy, showing its what many want. You can still get your tiny screen phones if you want, but I like something between 4-5.

Epic reviews
Aug 17, 2010, 7:52 AM
in the Samsung Epic 4G (Galaxy S) forum

Cnet, Engadgetmobile, Gizmodo and several others all have reviews up. Despite a few minor bugs that should be fixed, and some dislike of touchwiz, all call this a killer phone.

in the Samsung Epic 4G (Galaxy S) forum

I always like to use Best Buy, hopefully on Oct.1 when I can upgrade there will be a coupon I can use towards it. Good thing is, if in the 30 days after you buy the product a coupon comes out, you can go and get that money from Best Buy. I did it with my Hero back in October.

I am in the same boat. Good thing I can't upgrade until Oct. so I can see how the Epic4g fares. I have a hero now, and really miss having a physical Keyboard. I guess it doesn't help how the Hero keyboard gets laggy at times... Sense UI is great, and does a good job at integrating things like facebook and twitter to your contents, so I will be losing that, and some of the fun HTC ...

in the Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) forum

Yet again, another review where The good: The Samsung Captivate features a gorgeous Super AMOLED screen, a 1GHz processor, and 16GB of onboard memory plus an expansion slot. The Android 2.1 device also offers great call quality, full wireless options, and a HD video capture. The bad: it wasn't made by Apple. Well at least they were decent enough to give it the same score as the iPhone 4 I suppose.

OMG!!! Someone pointed out the flaws in the device yet still said it was a phone you should get. They must be evil. Anyone who points out facts must not be a fan! Sad that Apple carries this magic presence that its followers get rabid any time something negative but completely factual about an Apple device is mentioned, even in what is really a glowing and somewhat biased review of the product. (considering it was all about ...

Well here is the wording from the service agreement. DATA PLANS AND FEATURES "Data Plans and Features (such as NationalAccess, BroadbandAccess,GlobalAccess, Push to Talk, and certain VZEmail services) may ONLY be used withwireless devices for the following purposes: (i) Internet browsing; (ii) email;and(iii) intranet access (including access to corporate intranets, email, andindividualproductivity applications like customer relationship management, sales force, andfield service automation). The Data Plans and Features MAY NOT beusedfor any other purpose. Examples of prohibited uses include, without limitation, thefollowing: (i) ...

If you read their service agreement fine print, they also state it is prohibited to stream, upload, or download music, videos and games as part as the data plan. That means technically your agreeing not to use Pandora or games that play online and Youtube.. and other programs similar to this.

Verizon isn't restricting access to apps and whatnot, but they seem to be charging you extra form them compared to other Android carriers. Extra and caps on Data and whatnot.

Verizon Data
Nov 9, 2009, 2:28 PM

I read the terms on data and it says you can't use it to stream video or music. Does this work on the Droid? How much is a decent unlimited data contract, and is there really a 5GB cap on the unlimited data on Verizon?

Re: Moment Vs. Hero
Nov 9, 2009, 1:44 PM
in the Article: Review: Samsung Moment forum

Hero doesn't have a proximity sensor, but I have yet to hit anything on the screen before it blacked out while on a phone call. Also there is a screen sensitivity adjustment on the Hero.

Re: BATTERY PROBLEM
Nov 9, 2009, 11:45 AM
in the Samsung Moment forum

Yup, that happens with all Sprint phones I have. It happens with my Hero, but when I am in my office where I know it will drain, I just quickly turn off the data on the phone and it saves the heck out of my battery. I don't know about the moment, but with the Hero, just hold down the end call key and it will give the option to turn off data.

Re: First?
Nov 4, 2009, 1:15 PM
in the Article: Review: Samsung Moment forum

Possibly, though it seems from news reports, HTC is already working on 2.0 for the Hero whereas Samsung and Sprint are saying early 2010 for 1.6 to come to the Moment. Remember, just because these phones are using the Android OS doesn't mean that there isn't other things to work around too, such as chipset and service provider. It seemed as simple as you said in the past because there was only one phone running it, but ...

Really figured this would be the case. This is what happens when your using an overclocked processor. I will take a little bit of lag to be able to last through a day any day.

Also, thanks for the really in-depth review. A lot of the other reviews out there really just glossed over everything, and hard to tell if this is a good alternative to the HERO for more reasons then the keyboard.

Really sad. Looks like I am going to go with the Hero. Guess an overclocked processor doesn't help out much.

A few reviews are up
Oct 26, 2009, 3:58 PM
in the Samsung Moment forum

CNET, PCMAG and Mobileburn have reviews up. Really waiting for Phonearena and engadget to get their's up since they do better at comparing it to other units (specifically HERO)... Pretty much decent reviews. Some issues with the keyboard especially spacebar placement and spacebar consisting of 2 buttons so you have to push it on either side and middle push doesn't work. Also the camera has no options except flash on or off. Really pushing me towards ...

I hear you, except for the part about caring about Verizon phones  I tried Verizon for the 30 day period and even though better reception, couldn't stand how restricted and expensive they were... So yeah really just waiting for the reviews like you said, and delt with returns a year ago and trying to avoid that again, Just hope the stores get them in on the 1st, especially would be nice if Best Buy did :D

Re: Here is the real question
Oct 19, 2009, 9:40 AM
in the Samsung Moment forum

I would never trust Verizon on a phone. Just because Android is an open system doesn't mean Verizon won't find a way to cripple it somehow.. Plus Sprint's plan is so much better and less expensive. Yes the Droid will have 2.0, but I wonder how buggy that will be at first, and the Moment can probably apply 2.0 if Sprint allows. Verizon is great for regular phones for regular phone users, but someone with Android should really ...

Re: Pre - Hero - Moment?
Oct 19, 2009, 9:38 AM
in the Samsung Moment forum

This is the same exact problem I am having. I love WebOS but really don't think the pre is a well built phone. The hero is so nice, but the Moment is supposed to have almost twice the processing power and a keyboard (and I hate when typing on a screen keyboard and it takes up half the screen (I was testing the hero and had to remember the confirmation code instead of reading it while typing ...

Yeah seriously, you guys must not know how this site works. They only put the phone in the list about a week within the release date. It goes on the side when it goes in the carrier, and that only shows current phones available now (or within a few days)... The news is just in its own department on here, and they announced the Tour on here the same time everyone else did, and had all ...

BTW, "We touched on it earlier, but Safari is noticeably faster. This is due to better rendering, but eventually we’ll also be able to chalk this up to the addition of HSDPA 7.2Mbps. Right now Chicago is the only market where ATT is trialing this, so most users won’t notice any difference and by the time ATT’s full rollout is complete (2011) there will no doubt be a few new iPhones out there." So everyone not in chicago is ...

how long is the storm really gonna be exclusive to verizon though... RIM throws their phones out to everyone at a certain point of time. Sure Verizon has the exclusivity right now, but how long is that contract good for?

Wow, even though I hate the iPhone, I wouldn't say the Pre is king... Yes the Pre is a great device, but Palm can do so much better. It isn't WebOS I have a problem with, most of the issues of things it can't do will be fixed soon, it is the build quality of the Pre... I really hope Palm decides to do a side sliding Qwerty soon though, cause that is what I really want!!! ...

good point, and yes, very good reveiw, showed why the iPhone 3Gs is a good phone, but also managed to point out the flaws, especially ones that might matter to some people looking to maybe switch over to the Apple device.

oh you did wright the first message... oh well. Well I guess the reason you didn't know about the other stuff was like you said, the 3Gs is your first iPhone.

Re: Ya Missed Some Stuff...
Jun 22, 2009, 12:27 PM

I am not dissing the iPhone, or anyone who uses it, just the people who say a reviewer is bad because they didn't give the device a perfect score and people who think the iPhone is the ultimate phone and does everything better than any thing else out there, and anyone who doesn't like the iPhone is stupid. Yes the iPhone does a lot of things great, and is quite fast especially over a WM device, but I ...

It is pointless to argue with an elite iPhone fan. Nothing else matters to them, and anything negative about thier precious device must be biased and unfactual!!

Re: First!

umm cdma and tdma are different standards. and CDMA's first commercial launch (market trial) was in 1993, and Sprint picked it up in 1994. GSM started in 1991, but the concept begain in the early 80s, whereas the CDMA concept arose in 1988... and just so you know, GSM uses the TDMA standard.....

Re: First!

yeah, up to 7.2 Mbit/s on a gsm network sure, but not on a wcdma network 21 Mbit/s. Like I said, GSM is old news and will probably be converting to WCDMA which is updated CDMA network... and iPhone is still GSM which is just as dinosaur as CDMA kinda like being Triassic to CDMA's Jurassic

Re: First!
Jun 18, 2009, 12:40 PM

umm you do know that GSM is older, and that CDMA allows for much better data transfer, and the way the market is moved more towards data than actual voice, GSM will eventually just switch over to CDMA..

yes, because the iPhone 3Gs is such an innovative new phone that offers something no other phone can?! Really, the difference between the Pre and the Storm is that 1. Palm has been doing touch screen phones forever. 2. the Pre is already being critically praised 3. the Pre isn't about the device itself it is about an OS, which will come to more phones which could improve upon what the Pre already did, unlike iPhone which only offers 1 phone type ...

The best idea I came up with so far was to use the MP3 trimmer to make a ringtone with silence, (just use part of a song with nothing in it)... Now if you mean actually block the caller like not let them call you or even get to your voicemail, I think you have to talk to customer service about that.

Seriously, It isn't that the iPhone is a bad device, it isn't. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and is a great phone alternative is what it does is what you are looking for. A lot of people need something different though, something only WinMo can provide. It is unfair that people looking for a powerful smartphone have to get swayed by Apple fanatics (Apple fans are fine, its the fanatics we are griping ...

Im sure most of them didn't even buy the phone, they just say they did so they can write a review and talk about the iphone. There should really be a no mentioning other phones in the user review rule. Would save a lot of time and hassle for people seriously looking for information on what phone they should get.

To each his/her own. I am personally a Windows fan now. I do see the perks of BB, but WinMo has its ups too. BB Storm does look like it will be a nice touch phone though..

It really isn't that much bigger then the Touch Diamond is it? Though I thought I wouldn't after seeing it at best buy, I went to sprint and switched it out.. FIRST.

No duh, the phone powers the headphones. Heres a secret though, it takes less energy to power the headphones to create adequate sound fo a conversation then the speaker in the headset. I didnt say its gonna make your phone last eons longer, just said it improves the talk time a bit. and closing touch flow will help the battery a bit, but many people are reporting that the first few days battery life is poor due ...
