Quick follow-up: Just bought a $15 prepaid verizon phone at Target and transfered it to my regular phone and it completely worked. Did it online and had no problems...

I've been told by some verizon reps that they caught onto this and have stopped it. Don't know if that is true. I actually would like to do the same thing. I'd like to buy a prepaid phone from target (only $15) to replace my wife's prepaid phone that is extremely old. I had full intention of doing but was told it would not work. Anyone positive it will based on recent experience?

Thanks anyway... If you ever do get any in the future, please do post again! I really would like to get a new phone for my wife without paying hundreds!

Menno, I may be way too late on this one, but I just saw your thread and wanted to see if you did anything with that prepaid phone yet... My wife has a prepaid account that she has had for a very long time and as a result she has a much better deal than what is currently being offered. But the problem is here phone is very old and not good at all. To buy a new phone, it ...

Firmware update for older phones
Feb 10, 2009, 4:59 PM
in the Verizon forum

Hello, Due to breaking my phone early on in my contract, I bought a new, yet older phone through ebay for a good price. The phone, LG vx8100, seems to work but I've noticed some potential problems with the volume and I'm wondering if a new software update would fix the problem. Anyway, my question is - how do I go about getting a firmware upgrade (if even necessary) for an older phone, like the LG vx8100. Do I need ...

WiFi vs 3G -- am I missing something?
Oct 8, 2008, 10:45 AM
in the Article: Hands-On: BlackBerry Storm forum

I really just don't get this and maybe someone can explain it to me: The only thing missing is WiFi, but with so much 3G love, this is one of the few times we almost buy Verizon's argument that WiFi would be redundant. I realize that 3G provides excellent coverage and speed, but I do not understand why people (besides Verizon) believe having WiFi would be redundant. If I'm sitting at home or in a local cafe that has WiFi, why ...

Its one of the phones where she has to log into the site once a month and add money to the account or she would lose the account. I think she has to add something like $15 a month and that is sufficient for her. That certainly beats the $39.99 plus taxes plan! By the way, this is the specific phone that I'm referring to at Target: http://www.target.com/Verizon-Wire less-Inpulse-Samsung-Pay-As-You-Go/dp/B00127N DKE/sr=1-4/qid=1220660817/ref=sr_1_4/601-5424 306-1232954?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Averiz on&page=1

Her plan is the month to month plan, so there is no contract to renew. Plus the deal she got way back then is a ton better than the month to month ones out there now... I thought this technique was possible as well, but the verizon guy instisted it will not work on phones bought from target or walmart (or similar store) because they lock something (not sure) that ensure it can only be used that way. I'm just ...

Transfer service to Inpluse

in the Verizon forum

Hi, Real quick summary - My wife has a verizon pay per month account that she has had for many, many years and her original phone is way too old and is dying. It needs replacing. Buying a new phone is a horrible option because of the cost. We do not want to sign up for a new account because we want to keep the same number plus her deal is a very good one... My question is - Can ...
