Re: price drop on v710 on VZW... means something???

Hey, I just report what I've heard from people about the phone. Plus, it was already reported in the news a couple of months ago that New York state and Ohio were filing class action lawsuits regarding the Bluetooth issue. Now, whatever came of it? Dunno, it sort of disappeared, which sometimes indicates a nice out of court settlement.

Prices drop on any phone VZW carrys over time. The V710 has been with VZW for about a year now and usually after about 12-15 months, the phones drop to about as low as they're going to get before they discontinue the model. But, frankly the V710 is one of the biggest headaches for us in customer service. It has been one of the least reliable phones sold, obscenely expensive for what you get, and a ...

I've been a cust service rep with VZW for about 3 years now, so I've been there when the whole PTT program started with them. Now, my experience is that, not only do we not sell alot of PTT service to customers, but the quality and service of the PTT is sub par to just plain unusable. Even after VZW's much heralded "second generation" launch. I'm just curious to see whether I'm just seeing isolated cases or ...

after working for Verizon for some time now, I can tell you they get a kick out of handicapping phones. Taking web browsers off, games, ringtones, etc. Reason for this is to push their freaking Get It Now products, to increase their revenue, and also to force you to purchase more expensive phones to get the features you want. The best thing now is the "bluetooth" handicapped phone that VZW has been selling to many a ...

Andrew, Yeah, the V710 is the bane of my existance along with pretty much every other Motorola at VZW. I may work for VZW, but that doesn't mean I'm blind to the fact when my employer purposely disables and handicaps equipment for the sheer purpose of increasing revenue. Which leads me to Get It Now (BREW) but that's another issue. Unfortunately there is no way to bypass this problem. Needless to say, our sales reps have ...

I work for Verizon Wireless customer service and tech support, so far, we have not been given the heads up to whether VZW will be carrying this phone, I hope we do though. I've always had nokias, only in sept did I upgrade to a Samsung, but only because it was the only reliable camera phone that was for a cheap price. But, if this phone comes out next year, you can be sure I will be ...

I was wondering, because I looked at the website again and it did lead me to believe the DC minutes were pooled.

that's great! I want to a share plan with just me and another family member and the 250 DC minutes per phone would prob be sufficient per month for us. Now, are those minutes shared too? If one phone uses like 100 DC minutes and the other uses 300, would it be able to borrow DC minutes from the other phone?

Direct connect question

Okay, I'm looking to switching carriers after my VZW contract ends this november. It's got to be pretty bad when I work for these people and want to change. Anyway, direct connect minutes, how do they apply? the plans show 250 Direct Connect minutes, does that mean every time key the mike to talk to another Nextel person, it rounds up to a full minute, even if you talk like 5 seconds?

I have worked in Verizon Wireless customer service for 2 years now and I am happy to see this merger. Frankly, Verizon has gotten a little too big for it's britches and need some real competition with another big boy on the block. It's ridiculous how our plans cannot compete in price with other smaller carriers, and we have been last in introducing everything from camera phones to video messaging. As far as PTT goes, it ...

Cingular service coming to Pittsburgh, PA

It's frustrating to see these Cingular commercials on TV here in Pittsburgh and know that we cannot purchase the service, since Cingular is not allowed to sell here in Western Pennsylvania. Now, if and when this merger with ATT Wireless goes through, will that allow Cingular to finally be able to open up some stores around here? I need to get away from Verizon Wireless. Anybody have info on this? Thanks!

Thanks for the info and the link on Nextel. The freedom of upgrading your phone is rather nice. Verizon is WAY too strict on upgrading your phone. I understand the company has to recoup the losses it takes by selling phones below retail, but if a customer is willing to take a contract extension and is okay with the penalties if they break the contract, so what if the upgrade to a new phone once a year or ...

Switching from Verizon to Nextel

in the Nextel forum

I currently have VZW, have had them since back when it was Bell Atlantic/NYNEX. The only reason I keep them now is because of the employee discount I get. But, since I'll be changing jobs, and my contract will be up, I'm looking at Nextel. My questions are, is the customer service and support good, and what is their phone upgrade policy?

I work for Verizon Wireless and even I don't know when they will release this thing. It'll be nice to finally get a bar phone with an internal antennae. I'm tired at looking at ATT Wirless and the like and seeing them with these kind of phones. But, is the reception really bad on internal antennae phones? Just curious.

Hey, you used to be able to compare phones on this site, but then you updated it and I can't find the ability to compare anymore. What's up? I know I'm stupid, but where is the ability to do side by side comparison? :(
