I have to agree . . . I've owned the original Droid and Droid2 and find I regularly pull the battery for a freeze or to refresh the device. No combo of key presses accomplishes this like removing the battery. I'm concerned; too bad.

Battery is too small to be good; still smaller than the Bionic plus it's supporting a much higher res screen and 1.5 dual-core. But we'll see.

Does the Bionic have an LED notification?
Sep 15, 2011, 7:03 PM
in the Motorola Droid Bionic forum

I'm still on the fence about upgrading or waiting on October/November releases. . . Although I really like having an LED notification light to get a visual clue of messages, e-mails, texts, etc. Does the Bionic have an LED notification? I don't think Samsung builds them into their phones.

Are you saying my Env3 (listed as a Verizon Featured Phone) is a dumb phone? And even if I'm paying $30 a month for unlimited data, when I move to a smart phone I'm not grandfathered?

Re: Lose unlimited if yous witch from 3G to 4G

I have a question for you if you know . . . I have an Env3 with no data plan. I'm looking to switch to the Moto Bionic whenever it comes out but would like to grandfather myself for the unlimited data plan. Can I upgrade my phone to use the $30 data plan, pay for it the months I would need to wait until the Bionic comes out? Would I be grandfather into the unlimited ...

I don't hear any talk about . . . when the Verizon Droids are getting the 2.3 upgrade. Any word?

Any word on the Android 2.3 upgrade for the Droids? I heard the Droid1 may not be able to get it because of hardware limitations but what about Droid2 and others?

Any word on the Android 2.3 upgrade for the Droid2? Also curious why there is so little talk about this phone; solid upgrade to the Droid.

Droid e-mail issue . . .

I have the Droid since released last November and setup 4 e-mail accounts. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and a POP3 OWA type account which uses Outlook online to sync with our exchange server. Everything always worked perfectly. This past weekend I looked at my e-mail accounts on the Droid menu and the POP3 Outlook account was gone. I tried to create a new account and it never completes. Last month I got the 2.2 upgrade and last week the second upgrade with Flash ...

I thought . . . all Moto Droid users who received 2.2 last month should have received a second update by now allowing for the Flash upgrade capability. (Not sure what if anything else is included.) Does anyone know anything about this second upgrade? When? What's included?

Re: VERIZON NETWORK EXTENDED

Yes . . . I purchased the extender about 9 months ago. I think they just released a new model for voice and improved data; I have the original. I does what it says it does. I had terrible reception in my home; needed to talk by a window or outside and even then not good . . . often would lose calls. Bought and installed the device and never had an issue since. Home screen icons disappear . . .
May 19, 2010, 4:54 PM

Anyone else see this; where your home screen shortcuts or icons just disappear during use?? I have the Moto Droid; 2.1. It happened a few times now in the past few months (not often), but happened twice today. I'm using the Messaging app or a game app, go back to Home and it's blank except for my background image. You can flip up and gain access to all the apps and everything works but the home screen ...

Hi Menno . . . you bring up and interesting point I wanted more info about. What you say about 2.1 on the Incredible and using Task Killer; is that true for the Moto Droid as well? How does the Droid use memory? I use Task Killer to raise the available memory on my Moto Droid. It seems to get more sluggish as it gets down to 30-40k and using Task Killer brings it up ...

What about available memory? I seem to have very little (30-40k) until I use Advanced App Killer and then between 60-70k. Anyway to free more RAM? Does it matter?

Pandors and data use . . .
Apr 30, 2010, 3:59 PM
in the Verizon forum

Hi . . . I tried Pandora for the first time on my Droid. A warning message came up about the large amount of data this application uses (probably because of the songs streaming) and to check with your provider for fees. If I'm on Verizon with unlimited data (which is what the plans says) do I need to be concerned? thx

You're right but the lag didn't start until this week. 2.1 was fine, I think something else is happening. I was playing with the new Droid in the Verizon store and noticed it there as well.

I can't get use to the HTC interface . . . I find the Moto much cleaner and easier to use. But the size, weight, and speed are great. I loved the fact the Moto Droid had both keyboards but after using it for so long I never use the slide-out keyboard; on screen is great. HTC seemed close but they again re-arranged the keys and thre me off. :) Staying with Moto for now . ...

And by the way . . . doesn't the Moto Droid have a higher screen resolution. I've not seen a phone with a better screen anywhere.

I don't understand what the issues are with using exchange . . . I'm using it and it's great. Also use a VPN connection (which Droid supports) and get into all our servers and files. Love it!

What other apps are running like weather, news, stocks, GPS, etc. Anything that is getting info, being updated, searching the network.

You don't need to place it face down; just tap the on/off switch once and the screen will go to sleep.

That is standard for all USB devices charging from wall vs computer port. Juice from wall is diferent from your computer USB port.

I use it for the screen only; love it, it's great. No glare, great protection, and doesn't smudge finger prints like the one Verizon sells.

Opening PDFs with Droid . . .
Dec 4, 2009, 6:14 PM

Help would be appreciated. Are you suppose to be able to open PDFs attached to e-mails without an app or is help needed? My e-mail has a PDF attached about 60kb and at the bottom a little Android Icon with a button saying OPEN. When I click, it says Fetching and keeps spinning but never opens. I also downloaded Beamreader but same thing happened. How can I read PDFs from e-mails; Your help appreciated. thx

So . . . I have a widget on my home screen which I can long press and then drag down to the bottom of my screen to the trash and delete. Great! But do I need to delete the contents of the trash? How can I do that? I've installed a number of widgets and shortcuts which I've deleted and don't want to fill the trash can up; must be a way to remove complete. thx

Hi . . . anyone know how to view PDFs from e-mail. I need a good App, does the app need to sync or be setup with e-mail to open, is there a size limitation? Very good info . . . but I agreed with many of bh8690 clarifications in his reply to you. The trash folder to any e-mail account will not delete items you deleted on the device. Also . . . Apps Running . . .
Nov 25, 2009, 5:50 PM
in the Motorola Droid forum

Is it just me . . . I can "kill" all running apps using an app killer and then make a simple text to a friend, check apps running and see a list of 15. How did the clock, calendar, maps, etc get open without me using the apps or opening them. Not understanding this. This seem to happen all the time.
