Re: the Vista sync issue. You need to give more info on the messages you are/aren't giving. Please elaborate on "will not allow me to sync" Re: Treo 750. Yes, as soon as you back up your info from the Blackjack via Active Sync you can move it to a Treo 750. Some friendly advice: The Palm Treo 750 is overpriced and underfeatured. In my opinion, it's one of the worst Windows Smartphones on the market. ...

Re: largest screen

I can't speak for other providers, but I believe AT&T's Samsung Sync (707) has the largest internal display. It's also quite sharp when compared to screens of similar size.

Do existing iDEN (Nextel) need to get new phones?
Nov 19, 2007, 3:45 PM
in the Techs & Trends forum

I read up a bit on Nextel's shuffling of iDEN 800mhz frequencies to comply with the FCC's order to cease and desist interference issues with public safety channels. Because the frequencies are changing, will existing Nextel users with iDEN need to get new phones? Or are the phones capable of "tuning in" to the new 800mhz frequencies automatically? Anyone have any idea?

Re: PC cards + Windows Vista

Yes, I've got the 875U and 881U on my Vista laptop. Both cards also work very well with XP and OSX. IMO, the USB versions of the sierra cards are the bomb. Screw Express and PCMCIA. The other confirmed card that I KNOW works well with Vista is the Sierra 875 PCMCIA. I've had very little success with Express Cards and Vista thus far. In a nutshell I recommend Sierra above all other aircard manufacturers. I ...

Here are some new "unofficial" launch dates for 2 new AT&T Phones. LG CU720 (aka, LG Shine): 11/14 Samsung SGH-a747: 11/20 Plenty of pics are available of the LG Shine using a simple google search, but so far there's no photos of the Samsung a747. But rumor has it it's going to replace the A707 (Sync).

The only advice I can give you is to go down the list of compatible modem drivers and try each one. I had to do this with my Treo 680. Have you setup the connection in OSX? I.E., *99***# etc.

I work for ATT and haven't heard anything whatsoever in regards to GoPhone and wireless data. Perhaps you misread?

Re: Who is Faster, Verizon or Cingular/AT&T?

Please educate yourself. Nowhere in the US is ATT "similar" to dial up... and sprint covers WAY more cities than 13. Don't believe all the things Verizon teaches you in sales training little guy.

As of right now, the majority of AT&T's metro areas have been upgraded to HSDPA. HSUPA should be online around February. In contrast, a lot of Verizon's areas are still running of EVDO Rev 0. Furthermore, ALL of AT&T's network is EDGE while Verizon's worst fallback is the equivalent of GPRS (dial up speeds). Nothing on AT&T's network and partner coverage is slower than EDGE (236kbps) If you travel OUTSIDE major metro areas and need to ...

Re: 9-1-1 TAXES ON AIRCARS (SPRINT PX-500)
Nov 12, 2007, 1:50 PM
in the Wireless Data forum

I agree with you, in priciple it's ridiculous for someone to have to pay 911 taxes/fees on a CDMA aircard. However, I believe your beef is with the government and not Sprint. Though CMDA aircards cannot be used as cell phones, they still have phone numbers attached to them and thus the government believes they can tax it. In the case of GSM aircards, the SIM can be removed and used in a cell phone- so the 911 ...
