Unlocked Devices on Cricket?
Nov 25, 2019, 3:42 PM

Kind of odd for Cricket to offer this promo, considering that Cricket does not permit unlocked Android phones to use VoLTE or WiFi calling. I hope they change this in the future.

Should I get one? (Free Nexus S at Best Buy - Today Only)

I've been using an unlocked Nokia E71 on AT&T for over two years now. I was thinking of waiting until the next iPhone comes out, just to see what Apple has to offer. If I go the Android route, the Nexus S seems like a nice choice since it's running pure Gingerbread. The lack of 4G and a dual-core CPU doesn't seem like a huge deal for me. Background: I am not a smartphone power user, in ...

Actually the E71 is as much of a smartphone as the E71x, if not more so. The E71x is the AT&T branded version of the E71. It has a slightly newer/slicker GUI than the E71, but that's about it.

My Nokia E71 is a smartphone and I've been using it on AT&T for 1.5 years. However, it's not a model that AT&T carries (the E71x is a different model), so they don't recognize my E71 as a smartphone. Here's hoping that I can do that again in the future, but I guess it's not a huge deal if I have no choice but to go with the $25 2 GB plan. I haven't come anywhere ...

Interesting... what if I eventually buy and use a new/different unlocked Nokia phone in the future? Would I still be able to retain my current $15 unlimited data plan, or would I be automatically upgraded to the $25 2 GB data plan? Thanks again.

Hey all, A friend of mine just bought a jailbroken iPhone 3GS. He plans to unlock it so that he can use it on T-Mobile and on overseas networks. (Yes, he knows that he won't have 3G data service.) I have an unlocked Nokia E71 that I've been using on AT&T for over a year and a half. I have the "dumbphone" unlimited data plan for $15 per month. Said friend wants to use my SIM card in his iPhone, just ...

I installed Opera Mini on my unlocked Nokia 6300 (which is anything but a smartphone!) and I had full HTML browsing available to me. It works no differently than on my new E71... just a little bit slower due to the 6300's slower processor and EDGE connectivity, but Nokia has other 3G phones with faster processors that aren't PDA-type phones either.

They should've just gone with the cheaper E63 instead, if they're going to cripple the E71 like that.

Thank you all for your comments. Let me see if I understand this correctly... if I am not using an AT&T phone (which I haven't been for a couple of months now), then AT&T reserves the right to withdraw my Data Unlimited plan?? If this is true, what's the rationale behind it?!

Couple of Questions - Upgrading to Nokia E71

in the AT&T forum

Hey AT&T dudes and dudettes, I've been using my unlocked Nokia 6300 on the AT&T network for the past several months. I just received my new Nokia E71 and plan to start using it this weekend. - Since the E71 is a 3G phone, do I need to replace my old SIM card with a new one, or will my old SIM card suffice? (FYI it's a Cingular-branded SIM card that's a few years old.) I've never owned ...

...but I returned it today. Very nice looking, well built for an inexpensive phone, very thin and light. The low-res screen was a bit coarse, but if you're used to older candybar Nokia handsets, then this will be nothing new. I had a 3120 and this display wasn't much different. Much better than the 2610 that is/was sold through AT&T, though. I would've kept it if the earpiece volume was louder... as it stands, it's too ...

AvgJoe, just curious... what did you move on to after you left the corporate world at age 39? Any regrets? What was your experience like up until the time you left? Sorry if this is a bit OT.

My friend, who lives in Madison, WI was looking to get one... he actually got a white one in February, but then returned it when he heard that the black one is due in a month. I think he checked with a local AT&T store last week or the week before... it's quite possible that they may have 'em in stock by now.

Based on the recommendations I've received via this forum (thanks!), I decided to get a free, brand new 6126 through Radio Shack about six weeks ago. Overall I've been pretty satisfied with it. The battery life is pretty lousy if you use the phone heavily for texting, taking pics, etc. It barely lasted two days before I had to recharge it the first time, but I found that was mainly due to me spending a fair amount of ...

A friend of mine picked up the AT&T Centro the day it came out. I am contemplating getting one as well. We were wondering, does one have no choice but to use the included Blazer web browser, or are there other third-party browsers, e.g. Opera Mini, that can be downloaded and installed on the Centro?

Samsung A437?

in the AT&T forum

Just picked up a Nokia 6126 and opened it last night. I didn't realize it would be so heavy... the dummy phone at Radio Shack is so much lighter, which is something I didn't think about at the time. Although I'm partial to Nokias, I remember checking out the Samsung A437 during a previous visit to the store... seems like a nice, light and compact phone... is it worth considering? Am also considering paying $29.95 for the slimmer and lighter ...

In late January, there was a thread in this forum pertaining to upcoming new phones. A couple of people in the loop stated that the Palm Centro (in white) was due to be made available for AT&T on February 12. Was the date pushed back? I couldn't find any additional information here or on AT&T's site. One of my friends is quite keen on getting one when it finally becomes available. Thanks!

Nokia 6126, 6085, or 6555?
Feb 11, 2008, 12:25 PM
in the AT&T forum

Hello All, I'm finally hoping to get a contract extension along with two new phones for me and my mother this week. I'm trying to narrow it down to the Nokia 6126, 6085, or 6555. We both have Nokia 3120s and we really like them. We'd just be making calls, and I'll be sending occasional txt msgs. Stuff like MP3 players, internet access, and camera quality don't really matter to either of us. Reception, call ...

Palm Centro - Re: yep, but coming soon...

Any news on Palm Centro pricing yet? One of my friends is an AT&T customer but he's really interested in the Centro... he was also a former Sprint customer and would rather not switch back to their network. It'd be nice if AT&T had a similar $99 special, even if it has to involve a mail-in rebate.

I've read positive reviews about the 6126 as well, and the AT&T rep gave it a strong endorsement as well... but I just can't get past the shiny and cheap-looking chrome trim around the keypad.

Sorry to go off topic, but I loved my 3595! It was my first Nokia... everything about it was top-notch except its bulk, although its larger size allowed Nokia to include a better speaker. And although the keypad looked strange at first, I found it was extremely easy to use by feel, once you got used to it.

Oy, I'm about ready to retire my trusty Nokia 3210 (or at least keep it as a back-up) and sign up for a contract extension. I've posted here 'n there before and I just got done scanning through the past ten pages of threads on the AT&T forum. Am considering going with either a black SE W580i or a Nokia 6555. I've had two Nokias thus far and have really liked them... I only wish AT&T had a Nokia ...

Re: At&t signal in my house sucks - Milwaukee

Hey there, I live in Milwaukee and have been an AT&T customer for about 2.5 years now. I've been using a Nokia 3120 since day one and I haven't had any reception issues in my east side apartment. Although the signal strength meter ranges from full to mid strength, I hardly ever get dropped calls and people can hear me just fine (and vice versa). I've also had good luck with T-Mobile, which was my first cellphone ...

Bluetooth w/A2DP and AVRCP Profiles
Dec 10, 2007, 5:52 AM

Hiya, I've been mulling over buying a new phone over the past few months... initially I wanted a basic phone (I currently have a Nokia 3120) and didn't care much about cameras or MP3 playback capabilities, but now I wouldn't mind a phone with A2DP capability. So I'm wondering which AT&T phones these days support A2DP. I don't need/want a smartphone and I tend to be partial toward Nokias. It seems that the 6555 and 6085 support A2DP; too ...

The A717 looks like it'll be a nice basic phone! I haven't compared the specs, but is this basically an EDGE version of the A717 without the rotating barrel camera?
