okay I have no idea what wavelengths and um..what the auction is for or what it can do or what a company can do with a wavelength once a company buys it. so i was hoping people can give their input on what it means and implicats or changes. all i know is that using the ole antenna on tv's will be gone once its finished. Help me out Nextel18

yes the 700 MHz auction, sorry I have no idea what it's about so its hard to know what I'm asking. I'd jus like more information on it.

I apologize for getting snippy. I'm just learning about smartphones because I intend to purchase one (obviously). So let me explain a bit more. ASSUMING I am correct that the xv6800 will be released in Oct. I did not know if it was absolutely final that a data & voice plan is required to use a smartphone using vzw's service as the website leads you to believe, period, no questions asked. I never asked anything regarding the phone, ...

I'm not sure if this question can be answered or is even relevant (if its not jus say its not relevant) but i keep hearing about that wavelength auction coming up and I'm just curious, change cell phone services? I know that auction will change a lot but not sure what.

Buildings also screws things up (esp concrete) the signals cant go thru everything. also the site cells dont always overlap to cover entire areas. you probably found a gap not covered by site cells. that kinda crap happens with verizon at santa cruz too. in the city it works but on the way up the hill to the school the reception is completely dead then on campus it works fine. hope that helped.

The whole purpose of me gettin the mogul is to use it for notes when i go to school. I type faster than I write (plus sleepy notes are hard to read). But I figured its more convenient to get a smartphone. (no keeping up with two separate devices) Now im freaking out because I dont want to use any dammmm data plan but I'm REQUIRED to get one? um arent they on two diff networks. gms phones wont work on cdma phones period. unless the phone specifies it can work on those waves cdma ## and gsm## which i havent found yet. verizon sucks with phone selction. thats why. more cdma phones!!

its the site cells in the area that allows the network to be work and spread in that area. no site cells no reception period. write verizon and ask them to put up site cells in that area and i bet my leg if they do it (ppl complain and dont want them there bc they're "ugly" /;| ) ur reception will be better. :D

Screw it I'm not hearing too much about the innovative benchmark of palm :paranoid: . they seem to suck even though its a stable os. I decided to go with the the htc mongul 8O :-)... . now i gotta deal with verizon's suckky phone output and wait foreverrrrrrr for it to come out. :evil: Makes me want to switch to get it from another carrier!! :cry:

Well now Im having second thoughts because I'm not sure if i should go with something like the E2 or a treo. I hear they're both really buggy as far as freezing etc. What about alternatives?

man I'm lookin into palm to see if i can use it as a mini word processor to make documents and take notes n stuff. screw the palm pilot i cant even see the point in having that if you have a treo. but can a treo even do that? any suggestions?
