Why would anyone pick these expensive plans?!!
Aug 7, 2015, 12:25 PM
in the Article: Verizon Revamps Plans, Offering S, M, L, and XL Sizes forum

Even Verizon itself has prepaid plans that are a much better value than these (with no silly "access" fees). And there are plenty of reasonably priced phones out there that don't require a payment plan. I really like Verizon's coverage, but personally, I have been on the ATT Gophone plan, $45 per month all-in, 1.5 GB of 4G LTE data, with all the extras (including visual voicemail and hotspot). It goes down to $40 if you set up autopay. ...

I really couldn't believe how easy it was. Again, I was very fearful about turning my phone into a "brick," but then I said what the heck, I'll give it a try. I know...a home screen shouldn't make that much difference, but it is really nice to have more space to organize tiles. I LOVE IT. It's breathed new life into my phone. I love the phone otherwise too. It's a workhorse. I rarely reboot it...something I seemed to be doing ...

Hi there. If you go to the link in my previous message, and click the "seveneighter.zip" link, the instructions are really clear. Believe me, I have been scared to death to try anything like this, but the instructions were very straightforward. Within ten minutes, my Lumia 710 was updated, no problems whatsoever. I love re-sizing tiles. You'd think that would be a minor feature, but it totally makes better use of the home screen and allows you a lot more ...

I couldn't agree with you more about Nokia. I hope it makes a resurgence. I even like the familiar alerts that I used to hear when I had a Nokia phone years ago. It's funny you mention the manual update, because I have been apprehensive about trying it out of fear of bricking my phone. But there are some really good instructions out there and it worked like a charm. It's really like upgrading anything else. SO, my phone ...

I have been waiting for a long time, and now this??? I really like T-Mobile, but this is ridiculous. Can't it follow suit with others who are allowing the 7.8 update? Does anyone know how I could do it manually? I am not into "flashing" my phone, or turning it into a brick. I am pretty technical, but don't want to risk ruining my phone. Is there a way to force it to update through Zune or some other tool? Any ...

I was partial to Android. Three Android phones later (and also one iPhone later), I decided to take a leap and go with the Lumia 710. I knew it was a low to mid-range Windows 7.5 phone that would not be capable of upgrading to 8, but bought it anyway. Best Buy price matched it to Amazon, so I got a great deal. I was VERY skeptical, and anticipated taking it back, but I was pleasantly surprised. It does not ...

They have a good thing going with Lumia. Consolidate resources, come out with the next version of Windows 8 for tablets, phones, etc., and you have a winning combination. You then have a big three competition, with excellent choices. Apple products, Google/Motorola products, and Microsoft/Nokia products. Let the games begin!

I got the Samsung Exhibit II 4G smartphone from Walmart and absolutely LOVE it. I was forced to change cell phone companies after Hurricane Irene knocked out a Sprint tower close to my home and my phone was virtually useless after that. I stuck it out as long as I could, but after three months later getting the runaround from the local and corporate Sprint, I decided I couldn't stand it any longer. Believe what you want bluecoyote. I actually got the iPad 2 and used it for four months before I got the Samsung Galaxy. I have been testing all the tablets extensively. Perhaps you should have read my posting more carefully. If you had, you would see I own an iPad 2. I also own an iPod Touch and two Apple TVs. I understand why they are suing. Samsung is putting out some quality products. I have both the iPad2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I have to say I am much more enamored with the Samsung tablet. This has so much potential as a good deal for so many reasons! 1. I have an iPad and spend $25 per month for AT&T's ultra crappy 3G service. Why not get the mifi on Virgin's service, put it in your pocket, and share with the iPad? Unlimited access, instead of the meager 2GB for AT&T (then another $25). 2. But, to have a Blackberry with complete data services for $35 per month is very aggressive. Most contract companies charge up the wazoo for data services. I hope they offer these really soon! It says "1+" megapixel, which is probably the 1.3 megapixel camera typically found on most messaging phones. I have never depended on a phone for quality pictures anyway...would rather invest in a nice 10 - 12 MP camera for that purpose. I am excited about the form factor of the phone...very blackberry-like and one-handed texting. I am praying that Virgin Mobile gets it. I like my Rumor 2, but would rather have the form factor of the Torino.

Yes, guys, the article is not very well written and a little confusing. It's only for the POSTPAID customers. Virgin purchased Helio, which is a contract service. They are ditching that because it makes no sense to have it. It's only those people who are on that plan. Yes, it sounds like a good deal. I loved the new Motorola text phone too. But I had to take it back. The service was just so unreliable. And the text messages were delayed or didn't arrive at all. There are plenty of contract-free options out there now that are priced very competitively, with good service. Unless you need a high-end smartphone, there are several great phones available too. I have been with Virgin Mobile for two years, and I absolutely love it. I have the X-TC, and while not a smartphone, does everything I need it to do...with no contract! Wake up cell companies. Get competitive and stop with the fees.

I am not usually negative on here, but their phones are laughable! This is indeed a competitive plan, but I got on their web site and looked at their phones. They all look like they are from 1992. Seriously, get some good, more recent phones! The text option is of no use if they can't have at least a bare bones text phone. Same with web browsing.
