Phonescoop... Enough is enough
You speculating that it WILL come to these carriers, which has not been confirmed. :? Its funny how At&t releases Iphone, Verizon releases Storm, and T-Mobile releases G1, you never saw these articles (on Phonescoop) from other carriers, though they existed. These are even titled, Verizon to sell Palm Pre, and At&t will sell Palm Pre. False hope, and misleading stories from Sprint haters. They MAY get it and they MAY not. You say in the story headline ...
Re: they better do it quick!
You don't get 3mbps for any carrier besides sprint with WiMax. Thats it, end of story. Show me one testing with over 3mbps thats not with Line-of-Sight. Can't do it. So everyone on here needs to quit comparing lab/testing speeds and talk about the all important real world average speed and indoor speed. Im tired of these posts hearing 3mbps and 7mbps, sorry to hurt your feelings, but these are not real world speeds as of yet.
First fix 3g coverage issues.
Why work on speed when you can only get coverage in extremely few areas. Highly doubt... I know for a fact these aren't real world speeds.
Re: This isn't the Instinct 2
Nice Find VDubb!
Hey 56Mbps!
Cool and Wimax had testing speeds of 70Mbps. Doesn't mean crap if it's not real world. FYI phonescoop. 70Mbps in testing, up to 10Mbps real world.
Re: My Opinion... If you agree raise your hands up! haha
OMG are you serious iDragon405. Get off this post. "NATIONWIDE" "WORLDWIDE" HOLY CRAP DUDE.

LTE can be launched in any spectrum. Sprint doesn't need any 700 band spectrum for it. The only reason Verizon is launching it in 700, is because that's the only spectrum they have for the entire country that's gonna be 100% available. They'll have to wait a while before CDMA usage goes down before using 800 & 1900 bands for LTE.

LTE can be launched in any spectrum. Not True.
It's recommended for lower frequencies so it ...
Very old news.
Sprint has been saying for years they will support either format. LTE was never out of the question. So good for them to follow up on Verison's announcement. :)
Re: Yippy Las Vegas is on the list!!!
I think LTE is far off. Just because Verizon claims a release for a tiny market next year, doesn't mean it will roll off the whole network within another year. I don't see LTE coming until the end of 2011. WiMax is not a new technology and has been used around the world since its creation in 2004. LTE is a new technology and new technology always has its problems.
Re: Well...from what I understand...
I do want to ask. Which carriers DO NOT cap their data at 5 gb? Sprint the last to adopt this, so you can't bash them for that anyway.
Good Idea
If only companies had done this with our current networks we wouldn't have as many dead spots. LTE has been developed for data only so I wonder how this will affect the deployment.
Re: ANOTHER LTE STORY!
Being sarcastic!
ANOTHER LTE STORY!
Question for phonescoop... Are you going with LTE also?
Money Wasting Failure!

Interesting
So Metro PCS who doesn't build their own network is going to build their own network?
Hmm
I'm curious about the speed xfer to a device? Will it be for slow speeds like walking on foot like the original IEEE standard for WiMax 802.12 b and c where it recommended traveling speeds of under 20mph, or will it be like the 802.20 and the 802.12e and accept a continuous data xfer and seamless tower trade-offs at 180mph? Funny how they always leave this out when discussing LTE tests. They also have failed to discuss how WiMax ...
Re: 5GB, no thanks
Grab SLOW Alltel while you can!
Re: 5GB, no thanks
I know this. Sprint change thiers I think back in May. I was meant that they once had unlimited when Verizon was capped and that Sprint still has the best deal. Speed vs price.
Re: 5GB, no thanks
WHAT????? Verizon caps thier Unlimited plan at 5gb. Buddy, your not going to get a deal like this with any other carrier. I don't use 5gb of data in months of use and I'm an MIS major and do online databases with my courses. Sprint does have an unlimited plan thats still cheaper then the competition.
Re: This will sell well!!!!
It runs off the Sprint iden network.
Re: I'm surprised it took them this long.
Doesn't matter. Too many large companies world wide are invested in WiMax. There is deployment in Africa already which is 3x the size of the US.
Nortel
They weren't a big player in WiMax anyway. AT&T and Verizon has postponed their development of LTE... Where was that story on phonescoop?
Re: Not Verizon Wireless
Good point.
Re: Yo At&t and Verizon lovers
Finally someone on here with some brains. 8)
Re: Minutes Compared to Seconds????
Sprint owned most of Verizon's towers but recently sold to Tower Co. What crack are you smoking? Sprints network actually has more coverage than any other cell phone company Geographically speaking. Consumers who disliked Sprint because of their bad service years ago still rate Sprint bad. Remember it's the "Most dependable network in the country"
Re: Minutes Compared to Seconds????
Wrong. It does not work as well as Sprints. Do you listen to yourself? Have you tried both? I have and Verizon's is a joke.
Yo At&t and Verizon lovers
The iden network allows off network ptt. while Verizon's crappy network does not. Oh and it's a crappy ptt service in the first place. So I agree Sprint has the best network for this service. Besides it's a network that would otherwise be wasted in a couple years, might as well go for the good. Just had to educate the Verizon and At&t fan boys.
Re: So?
:D I read a lot! I didn't want to offend anyone. I have been following phone markets extensively for the past 2 1/2 years so I get into it sometimes.
To everyones reply
Apparently you all did not understand my point of the thread. VOIP has already been discussed within the US market in Wimax. Check out youtube for some demonstrations. I understand global markets and tech is important to what happens around the world, but it seems the only story I see about WiMax is in the foreign market. And every other day I see an LTE story. VOIP with Wimax (old Idea). Has anyone even read the paragraph/story? It's nothing ...
Re: So?
*news*
So?
Ok so this is the best story found about WiMax. I appreciate Phone-scoops support for world news, but I am more interested in the US Wimax network. WiBro is old new and isn't the same Wimax that will be instituted within the US. Please give some new about Wimax in the US market like new devices. Also at least update us on Kyocera (Sanyo's old mobile Dept.). Was it fully acquired? I know Sanyo was big in the development ...
To all the At&t and Verizon Fans
Sprint tops AT&T and Verizon in 3G network speed test
The words grueling and Sprint were used, and this time they weren't used in the context of the wireless company's financial performance.
This time, as a matter of fact, the news was positive.
The No. 3 wireless company came in No. 1 in a "grueling" and "definitive" test of 3G networks operated by AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
Gadget blog Gizmodo tested the three wireless networks in eight cities around the U.S. Gizmodo testers ...

Since 90% of the world will be using LTE, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say the world has chosen LTE.
I agree, individual consumers have not chosen LTE over WiMax. But, did Sprint have a "Customer Referendum" so that customers could vote on immediately shutting down the CDMA network and going exclusively WiMax? Of course not. Neither did the customers of the carriers choosing LTE. In the same way that you say consumers have ...
Phonescoop
Again another story about LTE. Phonescoop failed to show the same story about Samsung doing the WiMax network in Dallas which I read over a year ago. It was never posted on this website. I think I am just going to stop using phonescoop as a reliable/unbiased source of information. BTW isn't Nokia working on WiMax also? You wouldn't be able to tell by reading phonescoop.
Phonescoop never mentions WiMax Supporters around the world.
Phonescoop never mentions WiMax Supporters around the world. They must be getting paid under the table by At&t and Verizon.
Re: 21 or 2.1?
It fails to mention that its the maximum speed the handset will allow. Its not real world. The stated speed of the original HSDPA which was first 7.2 Mbps then 14.4 Mbps really only saw a peak of 1.2 Mbps in real world. They don't even offer HSPA+ or HSPA evolved anywhere. Its a long way away and requires MIMO technology implemented within the currently deployed towers.
Re: Who cares about AM and FM anymore?
Its Pandora, but you can get a Sirius App on the Sprint handsets.
Who cares about AM and FM anymore?
I get satellite radio with my Sprint handset. Only At&t and Verizon customers would get excited about AM/FM on their handsets.
Seems Sony can't be original
To me this looks awfully similar to the LG Muziq and Fusic which both had a unique feature with the FM transmitter. Seems like Samsung isn't the only brand Sony is copying.
