Re: Still bummed about the data service requirement

You are absolutely correct. It is a business. Reminds me of a movie quote... "Greed, for lack of a better term, is good." Not the best tactic for creating a good corporate image. I wouldn't mind as much if they allowed clients to purchase an unlocked phone and attach it to the network without the data plan, but they do not allow that either. That's where the excessive greed creates dismay amoung Verizon clients. Not that ...

Still bummed about the data service requirement

in the Samsung Omnia II (CDMA) forum

I knew Verizon would have to do something to make sure we couldn't use the WiFi feature for free... so now it's an additional $360 per year if you want this phone... ($30/month over your call plan). Are there any thin phones that don't require it aside from the LG Chocolate touch?

Has anyone seen it yet? Was it worth the wait?

It was going to come out this summer, then in Sept., then in October, then in November. What's the deal?

Not sure why Verizon is hiding most of these phones... but they all certainly seem to be very viable options. Still which they were even thinner. Anyone know how these compare to each other?

Is Verizon going to hold this one back to like they are doing to the Omnia II?

No. I have the same font no matter what I switch it to - normal or large.

Yes, it does have that capability, but it is an additional service from Verizon. I would suggest calling them to get the details, but according to their website, it does suppport Chaperone: What is Chaperone? Chaperone provides a convenient and valuable service to help you determine the location of your child's mobile phone from the Internet or from your mobile phone. When your children carry their Verizon Wireless phones with them while on the go, you can use the ...

I just got my phone updated with the new firmware. I was told by Verizon that the update included improvements to the voice activated dialing. Mine is now significantly worse that it was with the previous version. Anyone else have problems with this update?

Although we can't always believe what we read on the internet (expecially in Widipedia), you are correct in that GSM is much more pervasive. However, that does not mean it is better. It seems like Verizon took a more long term look at what was needed and chose a standard that was deemed to be the next generation technology: "GSM has always grown and adapted to the changing needs of customers. The number of GSM subscribers has ...

I had the problem as well. However, I noticed that nearly everytime I take out the phone, I end up with my thumb right on the lens. So I took a camera lens cleaning rag and some cleaner and thoroughly cleaned the lens. Voila, it's clear again. You might want to try that first. However, be sure to use a camera cleaning rag and not paper towels which can scratch the lens.

There are a number of covers for this phone including some that do not add bulk. Someone on this site mentioned the Invisible Shield. I don't know how well it works as I have not purchased one yet.

Do you mean the lid or the screen? Either way, I would take it back. Mine is pretty tight. It does move slightly, but not a lot at all. good luck.

If you are talking about "sounds", you can go to "Get It Now", select "Music and Tones", Select "My Sounds". Once you have one of your sounds hi-lited, if you click "Options" with the upper right hand button - above the speakerphone button, you will see the option to Erase All. If you use the left button above "CLR", you can erase them one at a time. Lastly, the way I get ringtones onto my phone is to ...

Why would you call BS on this one (heavy sarcasm)? After all, there have been so many phones that had the same model number followed by a II... not!! Actually, I'm interested in the LG 87,000,000 - I hear it plugs directly into your brain and displays on the backs of your eyes  . Oh yeah, and it will be coming out next week. I guess people get a kick out of spreading BS.

I believe you have to open the phone to activate the speakerphone functionality. That's what I do on mine - haven't seen any other way to do it.

Voice Dialing - how do you select what number to dial
Jun 8, 2007, 9:05 AM
in the LG VX-8700 forum

When using the voice dialing function, when you have a contact with multiple phone numbers, how do you tell the system what number to dial? My old 8100 used to ask me if I wanted to dial "home" or "mobile." This phone just seems to select whichever one it feels like at the time and doesn't give me the option. Do I have to create multiple entries for my contacts? I thought the purpose of ...

Advanced Voice Recognition - Please verify your software version - Thanks

Okay, I've ready most of the responses... but want to make sure we verify there are no differences in the software that could correct this issue. Lets find out if there is a difference in software. My Voice recognition sucks compared to the Samsung u740 I had for a couple of weeks. The LG recognizes most of my commands, but it doesn't come close to the accuracy of the Samsung. The software releases I am running are: S/W T87VZV01 PRL 50800 ERI 4 mVoice ...
