Ouch. Apparenty not following VZW plans. I thought we(I sell AT&T) were still towing the same line.

Re: cancellation dept?
Feb 2, 2010, 9:09 PM
in the AT&T forum

Any time you want to cancel you're transfered to the "cancellation department". At least if you call customer care. They should probably be called the retention department though, not cancellations. If you're trying to get some special rate by threatening to leave, I don't think they do that so much. ATT isn't hurting for customers so much after all.

AT&T has a required charge now as well, but we allow the family $30 unlimited text to cover it so it's rarely and issue.

Is the ENV3 a pda? Otherwise unlimited is only $10 if you've got unlimited text, or $20 if you don't.

I never start that way, but I'll end that way if the rep is absolutely useless.

So a guy came in and asked about the magnet. I went over the features of it, the price, how it effects his account on an upgrade, etc. He says, I'll think about it. He comes back in today, about a week later, with a Magnet purchased online. He wants to transfer his picture and ringtones. I decide to be nice and try. Magnet doesn't do BT file transfer. Sorry buddy. I set ...

It's interesting that across the country with different carriers people manage to come up with the same crazy ideas. How is it that 90% of people with a red dot claim their phone never got wet, then proceed to blame it on the shower?

Re: Palm Pre pre ordering?
May 19, 2009, 10:03 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

You have a limited time in which you can exchange your device for another. Personally I would wait. If you sign up today and it takes two weeks to get the device in stock, that's two weeks you just lost on your trial period. A store is not allowed to sell a device prior to the official launch. If it were a "PreOrder" then the rep wouldn't be able to sell you the device. ...

Kind of reminds me of the old secret shop conundrum. You had to score well on secret shops, however because they were secret shoppers there was no way to prove they did in fact come in and give you a fair chance to sell them a product. Preformance was graded and cash was lost if you were shopped poorly. On a much more similar note, I couldn't imagine my pay or job preformance being based on selling AT&T's ...

Ranting about an impossible to meet quota doesn't equal "Quite your job". What a tool box thing to say. Next time you complain it's raining is the solution kill yourself and you won't have to deal with it? The most common thread in Shop Talk pertains to complaining about work. This easily fits that description and your response was about as ass as it gets. His issue wasn't about not being able to sell the service, ...

I avoid it. I get messages on my blackberry whenever a thread is replied to. It would be useful in a slower forum if I posted a question.

This phone has U.S. written all over it. Notice no 2100 in the WCDMA. Hopefully AT&T will pick it up...

It sends you email notifications when people reply to the subscribed thread.

What about selectively closing portions of a thread instead of deleting them? If a thread starts to get off topic, allow the OP to close the portion of the thread going off topic.

You could write something into the terms of use about biased deleting of on topic posts. Then people could report abuse of the feature. Then again, that might become as much of if not more of a headache as the current reporting system is.

Pairing internet to handheld devices

Anyone know if there is an additional charge on top of the Media or PDA connect if you are pairing your device via bluetooth to another hand held device like a palm or Itouch once 3.0 is released? I'd hope it doesn't require the laptop connect...

Makes sense, thank you. However, I still don't see the point. I can create bullets with alt code and I can create a numbered list simply by typing it. Both are faster than opening and closing html after each subject line.

Right, the problem here wasn't that they shared towers, but that the guy was suggesting they had the same coverage as a result of shared towers.

I don't see what UL and OL do. Also, isn't LI a little useless since alt codes are available for bullets?

Lol, exactly. This guy was a know it all, so I figured let it go or lose an hour.

I had a guy tell me that VZW and AT&T use the same towers and he knows, because he works on them. It didn't give me much faith in our field techs... I really wanted to ask him why, if we used the same towers, does it take AT&T twice as many towers to operate as it does VZW let alone get into CDMA vs GSM. Ultimately I figured this guy wasn't work wasting time over.

Yeah, I saw the conclusion. Sorry for the assumption. Out of curiosity, if you aren't going over seas and you are staying with AT&T why do you need the phone unlocked???

The Icon disappears when the Blackberry isn't registered with the Blackberry Network. Usually a simple battery pull allows it to re-register. There was a rather large outage two days ago that may have caused the issue. It started in Texas from the sound of it, but I'm not sure what all areas ended up being effected.

Not paying the rent? They have rent at thousands of locations. That wouldn't make too much sense. Hell, to even know that Westfeild or some other mall chain would have to file a rather large suit. It may just be your local location.

Making $3500 at an entry level position is nothing to scoff at. No offense, but if you have no skills to put you in a more technical field I doubt you'd be making any where near the income you are now. I'm not saying you do not have a college education, I'm making an assumption based on your narrow focus on entry level positions in your current field.

You can back up your data so you don't lose contacts, appointments, memos, emails, etc. You will still have your themes on there as well as your images. You'll just have to take five-ten minutes to re-apply some changes. I'm not sure if it saves theme settings that you have changed or not.

Odd. I have dummies for it in my store. Either way, this is an AT&T release. Like I said when I posted the link. Blackberry's os is exclusive to Blackberry. From a platform stand point it wouldn't make much sense in those categories any more than Samsung's native platform fits in. Of course the thing that makes Blackberry different is that other phones can use the Blackberry service if not the OS. I'd say it makes sense where its at, but its sad its buried so deep.

Terrestrial GSM networks now cover more than 80% of the world’s population. GSM satellite roaming has also extended service access to areas where terrestrial coverage is not available. http://www.gsmworld.com/technology/gsm/in dex.htm All European and African countries and many Asian countries have adopted a single system, GSM, which is the only technology available on all continents and in most countries and covers over 74% of all subscribers on mobile networks. In many countries, such as the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, ...
