The only problem i had was that the screen would blank out every once ina while. The battery life was tremedous. about 4 or 5 days!!! with out the extended battery. It has changeable faceplates (always need them with me) create your own ringtones. This phone is just amazing. Thats all. :-)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

xrilander submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I used the v60i version from 2002-2006, never once had a problem with it. Great reception. I`d still be using it today if not for deactivating it on the Verizon Wireless website while trying to test a different phone. For the uniformed (me included), after August 2005 the FCC made it illegal to activate any non GPS phone. If you had an ACTIVE non GPS phone before that date you are grandfathered in, providing you don`t deactivate it. I would recommend the V60s as a good alternative to this model.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Plenty of aftermarket accessories from cases to ext. antennas. The only thing that hurts it today is the lack of a color screen. Otherwise a solid and dependable phone. Get one for a back up if nothing else.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sfmatt submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I LOVE this phone!!! I've had it for over 3 years, use it extensively for work, travel all over the country, and have dropped it many times--it just keeps working. The coverage is almost always excellent no matter where I travel, I can always get through (and people can get through to me), I can drop it several times a day, and it's always clear.

The battery life is great. I can leave it unplugged for two days and still get enough juice to make a bunch of calls. The metal casing makes it durable. I just feels substantial.

This is the phone of a true road warrior. It never lets me down. If you want to take pictures, get a digital camera. If you want to play games, get a gameboy. If you want to make and receive phone calls, get this phone.

I wish it was still on the market.

P.S. Verizon is my carrier.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I use over 5000 minutes a month in relatively hi-pressure business situations. I've tried other phones and none of them compare. I dont need a lousy camera, video, color screen etc. I need a phone that is intuitive, small, rugged and attractive. I had mine for over two years and I finally destroyed it. After trying several other phones, no expense spared, I bought a V60 on ebay. Verizon has discontinued this phone but it is still my favorite. If you want to impress a bunch of teenagers buy some silver painted plastic piece of crap that will be discontinued in six months. If you're a business person, a rock star or a Navy Seal-- this is the phone for you. And Verizon and Motorola, if you are listening-- please make a metal flip phone with speakerphone that isn't too fat (v60p) and has bluetooth.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

RichardM submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've owned this phone, and it's predecessor, V60c. This is the most beautiful phone ever, and the reception is excellent. The volume level is great, and the call clarity, and reception are all great as well. And its size and durability are excellent. The style is classic. At the time is came out, it was state of the art---a great upgrade over the startac in every way.

This phone lacks a color screen, camera, video, etc. Now there's a lot of other phones now out there with lots of cool new features. So, this phone is not as desirable as it once was.

When my "new ever two phone" was available, I tried the LG4400B, Samsung A530, then finally settled with the Motorola T730.
The Moto 730 also has perfect clarity and reception, but the color screen wasn't that good, esp. outside on a sunny day. But it's worst problem is that the volume isn't really loud enough. When driving in a car, or trying to use it at a noisy place such as an airport, you can't hear the other party.

So, I re-activated my V60i, and now I can hear fine wherever I am--even in airports. And my Moto T730 is sitting idle in my closet, as a backup phone. (Anybody want it?)

I wish they could just update this phone with a nice color screen, and advanced voice activated dialing. I don't need the camera or video capability. Just a very durable phone with excellent reception. (Being able to get live TV would be nice, too, but that's probably asking too much for this phone now.)
Maybe one of the new phones yet to be released by Verizon--Moto V710 or Audiovox 9900, will have the quality and recception of my V60i with the benefits of the new features, and I'll move on from my V60i--but for now, I'm sticking with this phone--one of Motorola's best efforts.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It looks cool and is super small. The battery lasts for days! If the cover gets scratched you can replace it. The antenna has been improved and will not break like the V60c. Only cons I see is the lack of color if you want that and the ringer could be loader. It's funny that the new V60s is about the same but it's battery only lasts 1/3 of the V60i.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Motorola has not been able to resolve many software issues now the phone is discontinued...sad. The engineer who designed the charging port needs to be reassigned to the unemployment department. Why on earth should it take me 1-2 mins of jiggling the charger around to get the phone to start charging?? on all 3 phones I have had after about 2-3 months of use???? Why why why. I stop asking I'm moving on to another carrier.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ddruyor submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I have used this phone for about 2yrs (v60c and v60i split each for a year).

I would have to say I have still yet to see a phone as good. It's very durable (i can't tell you how many times I've dropped it). The only exception is the antenna, which tends to break quite often.

It's sad to see that it's discontinued....it doesn't sound like the V60p is as good reception-wise (from people who have used it). But we'll wait and see when it's released. It is a little bit of an outdated phone, and not color so I would never use one again now that I have a color phone.

I now use the LG VX6000 and have to say that it comes pretty close to V60i status. I have only been using this new phone for a couple weeks, but so far so good. Digital only isn't bad, but haven't needed analog yet.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

donovansmith submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I got the V60i back in December after trying out a Sony Ericsson T61c when I signed up with Verizon. I liked this phone when I first got it, but as time went on I grew to dislike this phone quite a bit. First the good. It has decent reception, audio quality is very good, has changeable covers, looks quite nice and professional, and uses easily available accessories.

Now the bad. It feels very cheap for such an expensive phone. The screen is small and the contrast could be better. The outside caller ID display is only one line and can't display much. The battery life is deplorable, and the longest I can go without charging it is two days, and that's even with turning it off at night and I usually only talked on it for a few minutes every other day. The reversed soft keys and Send/End keys still confuse me since it goes against every other non-Motorola phone available and makes absolutely no sense. iTap just sucks compared to T9 for text entry. Only one phone number per name can be stored in the phone book. And the retail price on this thing does not justify what you get with it.

This was my first Motorola phone, and will be my last Motorola phone. It is poorly designed, cheaply built, and overpriced. But at least it looks nice.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

NDCellman submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Being in the cellular business for five years, I have seen a lot of cell phones come and go. It seems that cell phone manufacturers rush new units to the market before really testing them fully. I have used the Motorola V60i since last October, and find it probably the best phone that Motorola has ever made. Having the stainless steel hing for the flip has removed the problem of the stress point where service indicator is, which usually cracks in other phones after heavy use. The concept of being able to change the covers easily when they get scratched up is another great plus. The only downside I have experienced is the slipperiness of the metal case. Many times due to this the phone is dropped after being snapped out of the holster. Good thing the rest of the phone is solid also. In addition, I have rarely had to send one in for repair. Overall use of the phone is easy. I recommend this phone daily to my commercial/industrial customers. That customer is not interested in a lot of fluff in the phone anyway.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

leech submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Good voice dialing capability, I don't love the phonebook setup. Nice, flexible menu structure. Customizable voice or menu shortcuts.

Sending a text message is a little cumbersome.

Excellent battery life, good reception (still haven't found something that compares to my old Startac)

Nice and small, lightweight, very pocketable.
Absolutely horrid included belt clip-- protrudes too much from the hip, difficult to release or reinsert the phone.

I do wish the exterior LCD had battery and signal strength indicators.

PC/Outlook Synchronization works OK, though a little balky sometimes.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dsj3000 submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

After returning the pathetically disappointing Motorola T720, I purchased with frustration the V60i. This phone surprisingly has been a pleasant surprise. The audio quality is fantastic although I must keep the volume usually on maximum. It is compact, and very user friendly with a very cool look. The interchangeable faces are great although $24.95 is outrageous for those tiny plastic covers. The display is adequate with up to 500 entries from what I understand. The ring tones are sufficient with the ability to design your own a somewhat annoying process, but I made a few interesting ones. The slick looking exterior is a slippery, heavy, aluminum cover. The cover is so heavy that it is impossible to open with one hand! Try opening this phone while you are driving and you might not be around to make the call.
It is also almost impossible to get the phone out of the belt holster with one hand. I guess we trade the security of it not falling out for both hands to remove it. We have 500 number address book and guess what? NO SEARCH! What a debacle to leave this feature out of this gigantic address book. You cannot assign ringers to particular listings in the address book either...bummer. The display has a zoom, but you loose the date. The outside caller ID display does not give you a signal strength meter or digital analog meters, but does have date and time. Overall, this a a good phone with a wish for some small improvements. I must mention as another big positive is the battery life has been fantastic, especially in the standby mode. On a few days with a few light calls I did not have to charge the phone for almost 2 days and the signal meter was still just below 50%! Even a heavy day got me through without charging until bedtime. The next version of this phone should be AWESOME.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Voice dialing, games, and awesome battery life has given motorola a new taste.
No problems as of yet, and i've had this phone for about 6 months...took a while to get used to the belt clip but now its like normal

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Very soft volume even fully turned up. Hard to hold in hand. Tough to see screen without a magnifying glass.

I had an older Startac and did head-to-head comparisons in a variety of locations for call quality, etc. As close as you can get to a controlled experiment. The Startac smoked the v60i each time!

Returned it within a week. BTW, the techs at Verizon checked it out and said it was "Fine." Maybe for them, but not for me.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Ktollstam submitted this review of the Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I have used this phone for a week. Reception is at least as good as my old Star Tac (a typical benchmark). Form and style are solid, attractive and ergonomically well thought out. I have no use for games so no comment there. Antenna is solid, not fragile like many other phones. Sound quality is very good - better than my Star Tac and many other phones I have tried. No 1xrtt (3G) but I don't care. Text message set up and operation is nice - can send to multiple addresses at one time. Voice recognition seems to work well. Phone book is a bit awkward, but not too bad. Voice tags go with the phone book entry and "play back" as you scroll past. Not sure how analog performance will be given the low power output of the xcvr as registered with the FCC. iTAp is a bit clunky compared to T9, but nothing to worry about. For example, pressing the 4 key gives you g. g is not a word but "I" is. Pressing the 4 key with T9 gives you "I." I like the flexibility in changing the menu and setting up "shortcuts." Lots of ringers and the ability to customize.
I have four minor complaints:
1. I wish the external display could be set to show signal strength as well as time and date. I would also like to see D (digital) and A (analog).
2. The volume of the ear piece is just barely acceptable. I have the phone cranked up all the way - no margin for a weak audio call. So, far not a serious problem but may be a problem with certain "hands free" headsets.
3. The main display/screen is small and shows "rainbow" distortion marks in sunlight. This is not a phone optimized for heavy WEB use (although the Browser works fine).
4. Battery life - not good. The 60c came with a 500 mAh rated Li Ion battery. 500 mAh = sucky battery life. The 60i is advertised to have a Li Ion 700 mAh battery SNN5704A (look on Verisonwireless WEB site). BUT all the information I have been able to find states that the SNN5704A is a 500 mAh battery.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
