juanmi2793 submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This phone is an awesome phone overall. Though not super-packed with additional features, the phone is very comfortable and easy to use.

PROS:
> Texting is a breeze with comfortable, large keys.

> Menus are familiar and easy to follow.

> Very durable.

> Large address book capacity.

CONS:
> Not too many extra features.

> No Bluetooth.

> Not many preset ringtones to choose from.

Overall, this phone is the perfect basic phone. I had no issues with it whatsoever; I highly recommend it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

judia submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

The only reason that I even give it a 1.0 is simply because it is OK to text on.

I've replaced this phone with Verizon once already because the battery life on it is short. If I want to use it I better be near a regular outlet, because the travel charger does not work either.

The phone will cut me off in the middle of conversations, and half of the time I don't even know that I have a voice mail until the person calls me on my regular home phone.

I'm due up for an upgrade with Verizon and will be getting the Samsung Alias. So far the ratings that I've read I think that I can deal with. I'll definately be getting the extended battery for that phone though.

Also if you buy the W315 from Verizon with the online discount it is 9.99 for a refurbished one, but I will (NEVER) buy this phone again nor recommend it to anyone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Can hear myself when trying to talk. Speaker phone does not work. Loses phone book. Battery lasts under 12 hours. Some calls go directly to VM without ring.
Tried to take back to store. They told me I only had 30 days. Tried to return on a Monday(32 days). Had to call and have one sent from Alltel. Second phone does all of the above. They will not take back because it has been 49 days since I signed the contract.
What's a person to do?

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Psxmoe submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

My previous Phone the Motorola E815 had problems charging because of the contacts, i ended up getting angry and yanking the charging cord out of the phone and thus breaking off the port. The end of a great phone, except for it's charging interface!

As a replacement I bought the Motorola w315. Over all it is a durable phone with good RF in fringe Area's it has never dropped a call on me, Although the only complaints I have are the battery life and text message interface.

To send a message you first have to select who it will be sent to, then make your message after that you have to go thru another screen to send it. I found to be too time consuming, compared to my moto E815.

The battery on heavy use with mostly heavy messaging use and 30+ minutes of calling really uses the battery, but it did seem to improve after conditioning the battery.

The signal indicator is next to useless as it does not accurately tell weather you have strong or weak signal at all.

Browsing on the Internet is slow as heck, I also found the menu system to lag at times, As suggested by another review I turned of the menu animation and speed did improve slightly.

PROS

Flip
USB Charge Port
It's Moto
Ability to save pictures off of browser
Strong Vibrate
Ease of use

CON's
Battery
CPU speed
Speaker phone volume
Ring tone Volume
1x Data
Signal Indicator
No bluetooth

Overall it's a good phone for new comers to that wireless world. Phone would be better if it was faster and had bluetooth.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It does not have good reception and it shuts off all the time on its own. Sometimes I turn it on and it says " invalid battery." It said that the first day I got it. Not many options on this phone. It is heavy and bulky.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

frogz4me submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I got this phone back in January 07 as part of some Alltel contract renewal promo, I'd had a motorola for 4 years and loved it so I figured what they heck. Long story short, the first phone lasted a total of a week before I had to return it by mail (don't live near a store). It had technical issues like shutting off randomly and resetting to defaults, occasionally deleting my contacts list, which as you could imagine, was a problem. I went through two more of these phones exact same model (both refurbished) between January and October. They would work well for a while then problems began to show, they would shut off, or freeze, there is little worse than looking down at a strangely illuminated black screen where your main screen should be. Other than that I loved the phone and would have kept it, maybe I just have really bad luck, and from my experience Alltel refurbished phones are TERRIBLE!!

Pros
- great reception
- cute ringtones
- good battery life
- good for texting (easy keys, palm sized)
- nice look
- great interface

Cons
- not much media (mp3, camera, and so on)
- the whole...being a piece of junk and having electrical issues

I gave it a 2.5 because were it not for the electrical issues, I really loved everything else about it.
Good luck to all with this, I hope it was just my terrible luck!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sp00ge submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

When we first got the Verizon version of this phone, I though it was fairly decent. No frills, good call quality, just the basics. However, after about 6 months, that opinion has shifted.

First up is the lack of any support by Motorola. One minor nuisance is that ring tones are impossible to get for it, or onto it.

The major issue I have with it is battery life. Unless our phone is the exception, battery life is nowhere near the listed specs. There have been times that within 24 hours of charging, while on standby mode, the low battery chime would start. This was less than a month after purchasing. The battery life started dwindling as the weeks went by, until a charge would last no more than a few hours.

This brings me to my second point on the battery life. We had to replace the battery once already, and we thought everything was fine and dandy. Fast forward to last week, several months since the battery was replaced. Now it won't hold a charge at all.

While Verizon was kind enough to replace the battery for free the first time, they are giving us the cold shoulder this time around.

But as said, this may be a total exception to the majority of w315. Unfortunately, we still have 1.5 years left in our contract and a dead phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It is so easy to engage the speaker phone when attempting to use it in the "normal" mode. This to me is a big negative about the phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

For those of you who have teenage kids you know how much into tech they are. I thought he would scoff at this phone. LCD display on front shows time without opening the phone. Voice command dialing. Sync with Motorola Phone Tools. 1000 contact phone book (if he fills that up I'll DIE!). I would recommend this phone to anyone, especially those with low vision like me.

PROS:

Loud ringtones
Works great in vibe mode
Excellent call quaility
Great reception
Excellent battery life
Large colorful screens
User-friendly menus
Easy to use texting
Tools
Nice exterior and interior look and feel

CONS:

RealTones don't sound too great, they sound too distorted.
Web browser is slow, but it was slow on my old LG 4270 also
The exterior of the phone shows fingerprints, but that's okay.

Not really many cons to list. Basically its a good phone for anyone who just wants something simple and basic with a few bells and whistles.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cuzitwasgood submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

i just got this phone for metro pcs in detroit area. so far it works well for my needs.
i wanted a camera phone but it simply wasnt in my budget. my friend convinced me it wasnt necessary since i have 2 cameras that i carry around with me anyway. i also have an ipod so i dont need an mp3 player on my phone. my boyfrined has one, and it only plays about 9 songs anyway. lol. & i dont care about bluetooth.

so i chose this one cuz it looks pretty nice.

pros:
-sleek design but not flimsy. (i wanted as big a flip phone as i could find, so it would be hard to break...unlike a razr...which i hate) this one isnt HUGE but you can tell its solid.
-the keys are nice & easy to txt on.
-the external display is perfect. i dont have to worry about it getting scratched.
-im not sure if its the service or not, but i get good reception. my boyfrineds house NOBODY gets reception. its like he lives underground. i mean NO bars for tmobile, verizon, or nextel. now that i have metropcs & this phone, I DO. im the only one around here who can sit INSIDE the house & talk on the phone.
-i like the menus. im used to them from my last motorola & even the few stuff that was different, i learned quickly.

cons:
-the usb port ONLY charges the phone unless you buy some extra crap from motorola.
-im praying that i wont have problems with the earpice like my last motorola.
-when i got mine there werent any games on it. i get bored a lot. (that could just be metro pcs)
-i havent found a way to change the two upper internal softkeys. i dont think that is customizable
-batterylife isnt that great

things people had problems with:
-the menus can be sped up by turning off ANIMATION
-to have web and download stuff, you have to have that service.
-if you want to get to a certain person in ur contacts, press the first letter of their name. then you wont have to go thru all of the contacts to get to them.
-you can customize vibrations, beeps, & tones when you recieve a call or message.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tinad23600 submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I was considering two Metro PCS phones when I went in to make my purchase - this model, and the Motorola V323i (due to a higher rating here on Phone Scoop as well as the added bonus of a built-in camera). However, the $25 rebate that was being offered was too good to pass up (add the fact that it was $40 cheaper BEFORE the rebate than the V323i and that I have a digital camera in which to take pictures and it was a done deal for me).

PROS:

+The menu is a breeze to learn and easy to navigate. It literally took 10 minutes to familiarize myself with it to the point of not even needing to read the manual (but I did anyway).
+Nice, simple (but great to have) features such as a memo recorder, and voice commands.
+External screen is perfect. At first I thought that it was going to be too small, but it is able to provide all of the info that I need when a call or message comes in.
*USB charger.
*Aesthetically pleasing and seems rather solid.
+Great volume.

CONS:

While few, these are the ones that I am most concerned with.

-The battery life. I am not quite certain what is wrong with my phone or battery, but 20-30 minutes of talk time reduces my battery meter from a full capacity number of 6 to a 4.
-Reception is not as clear as my old phone (a very old LG brand). I constantly find myself saying, "pardon me?" while speaking to others, as I cannot clearly hear them. And today as I was speaking to someone at a company that I called, they asked if I had trouble speaking (?) and asked if I used some sort of vocal aid in which to speak!?!
-The antenna (as many have mentioned before) seems very fragile.
-People have had trouble hearing me when on speakerphone.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of this phone thus far. Its features are more than enough to keep me happy by doing what a phone is supposed to do - make calls. If you desire a phone that makes calls and can do minor (necessary) things, this phone is worth the price.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I dropped it and the screen is blank. Can someone tell me how I can get another phone without having to pay a deductible to Cricket? They don't work with their customers, and their customer care line is always in a loop. I don't care for this phone and for cricket. Cricket's return policy isn't worth anything! Cricket's phones are too expensive and they don't give you any discounts!! I can barely hear my callers with the speaker phone. The so called "web" is slow.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

K-rosyrup submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Of all the many phones I've owned, this one was the worst! I've had it replaced twice in 6 months and the same software issues keep happening.
I spoke with a service rep. who said it was possibly a bad batch of phones. He suggested sending the second phone back. The phone won't stay on without the charger plugged in. It rotates from the Hello Moto logo to the menu screen and then a "no service" message and back to hello moto every 5 seconds or so.
I bought a new charger just to make sure, and that wasn't the problem. Just serious sofware issues. The only reason I even gave it a 1.0 is because it looked nice.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ajstrong submitted this review of the Motorola W315:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

If I was a kid, or someone that has a working knowledge of phones, I may get this phone, and like it, b/c with Verizon, it's cheap (the free phone where I work). That brings alot of older people who "just want a simple phone" and think that simple means free. in this case, it does NOT. the menu functions are cryptic at best for those that have not entered this technological era, and down-right confusing and intimidating if you don't know which button to press.

Obviously, that is all phones for old people, but as another user mentioned, the LG vx 3000 series is much less confusing, and has a more intuitive menu style (for the older customers at least).

I have spent HOURS speaking with and attempting (with little success) to explain why the menu is the way it is, and have been asked why the phone is so hard to use; aside from MOTOcrap and the user, I can't really tell them why.

the ok button is WAY too small, and there should be an easier way to access the speaker than the weird button beneath the volume control.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
