hepresearch submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

As a basic user at the time, this was a decent phone. I had it for 6 months while working for a third-party Sprint dealer, and I had few problems with coverage in the Lancaster, PA, area. However, in areas where the Sprint towers were owned by Shentel, such as York and Harrisburg, PA, coverage could get really spotty.

The SCP-3100 is a tough little phone. I put it through some serious abuse, such as dropping it alot and opening the clamshell too far. I used to demostrate this for customers by slamming the phone onto a desk while open, and then banging my fist on it to press it open further than normal. It survived every time, and it always worked afterward just fine. I don't recommend you try that at home, though...

PROS
- tough phone
- decent signal strength when in a coverage area
- good speakers and earpiece
- inexpensive for a camera phone at the time

CONS
- no Bluetooth
- browser not strong or fast, 1xRTT only
- not a feature-rich phone

Overall, this is a good, decent product by Sanyo.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

narn3049 submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I love this phone. It was my second phone over the razr v3m in red, because it took a dramatic fall into the sink and kept giving me the bootloader error, (not sure of the software or PRL)

The two expresso brown ones I owned were absolutely junk. They would always break, so i went to the store, and luckily sprint replaced it, but the only one that they had was BARBIE PINK!! and I'm a boy,

I love everything about this one and saying that the brown one I had didn't work is what I think is shunning the pink one.

If you like sprint and sanyo you should get this!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kcsimm11 submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

It's a pretty good phone. I've had it for 2 years. very sturdy (i've dropped mine so much, but it's still good) A very good phone to get kids getting a cell for the 1st time. Probably not great for someone who uses the internet or email a lot. not for someone who wants a really good camera either. Mainly just an average phone, nothing too special or really bad about it.
pros:
very durable
voice recording
long lasting battery
self portrait mirror next to cam
good volume
not too complicated
cons:
not the best camera
not a big choice in ringers
doesn't hold a lot of pictures
no flash for the cam

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

However, I think that the camera on my phone is really not a big deal. If you really need a camera, but one, don't depend on you camera phone's capability.
The rest of the phone is excellent. I can't even begin to count how many times I have dropped it, and there's only a few scratches, but still works like a charm.
Texting on this phone is so easy and quick, and the speaker phone is great. Reception is also awesome, I get service no matter where I am.
This phone may be a little large and slightly out of date, but if this phone is still available to buy anywhere I suggest it, especially for first time cell phone owners!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I got it for free a year and a half ago and have had no problems with it even after several swims in glasses of water and sinking down to the bottom of a pool. I have had to dry it out more times than I can count.( I have 4 young boys) Even with it being as old as it is I only have to charge it every 4 or 5 days. I really like the phone.

Pro's:
small
GREAT battery life
easy to text on
easy to use

Con's:
really dont have any

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

audioqueen submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I purchased this phone 6 mos ago because my Samsung had developed the black screen problem (shutting itself off when the flip is used) My Sanyo phone is now experiencing the same problem (display goes dark when shut - then searches for signal when opened). I sent it in for warranty service and I got it back saying that the warranty was voided due to abuse (Physical damage). There isn't a scratch or mark on this phone. It sits in my purse or shirt pocket. Doesn't get wet, hasn't been swimming or anything of the sort. Sanyo obviously does not want to repair anything under warranty. They will find a way to get out of it. I have had the same problem with the LCD Projector division of Sanyo. Their 3 year warranty isn't worth the paper its written on. If I had insurance on my phone, I think I'd play golf with it as well!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Have had it for a year, don't use it very often, don't even carry it around much. It just shut off with no warning. Suddenly the screen went fuzzy and it turned off and I can't turn it back on again. Sprint is no help. Considering that this is my only phone I have no wawy of communicating with my family, I'm stuck for a while. Can't afford a new phone (which sprint said starts at $200) If I cancel my contract, that's $200..sigh maybe I'll try AT&T.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It is a very nice phone and has greats features on it such as brower,camera,speakerphone,10-4,etc. My battery lasts just fine only having to charge it about oncee a week. The camera takes good pictures and the speaker phone is very clear. I have dropped my phone a couple of times and it still runs perfectly fine and has NO scratches! It is a very nice phone and is perfect for pre-teens and teenagers. I recommend this phone is you are looking for a good phone and a good deal.

I hope you enjoy it as much as i have.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

vebtc submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Even though I got this phone for free from Sprint I would not reccommend it to anyone. I am very unhappy with it.

Pros:
none

Cons:
Sound is awful. It's loud then quite. Seems very erratic.
Screen is muddy. Hard to see in daylight.
Camera is terrible. Pictures seem out of focus and blurry.
Phone gets real hot after about 10 minutes.
Adding picture and ringtone ID to a caller is difficult. Once you do it you can't see or hear what you've done.
Speaker phone is on outside of phone so when you have the phone open the speaker is on the other side. You have to turn the phone around to hear it and then you can't see the keyboard.

Don't waste you money.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I just use it as a home phone so it did it's job!

The only problems I ever had with it were things my toddler had done to it!

The only thing that kinda sucks is the speaker...not the best sound quality as far as ringers go, etc....but what do you expect ??

Good for the money for sure...after all this crap I'm going thru with my Razr V3m I might just buy this phone again!!!!

Pros:
-small, lightweight
-sturdy
-easy to navigate
-keypad is easy for texing etc
-good reception (Sprint)
-cute enough

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

t.c. submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

i had this phone for a little over a year and it was a great little phone. it's excellent as a starter phone, something you use primarily to text or talk on, taking the occasional picture.

PROS
*good design
*sends texts/mail quickly
*great battery life (had to charge it about once every 5 days)
*customizable caller ID (customize picture/ringer of person calling)
*T9 text is easy to program
*is very sturdy. i dropped that phone so many times, parts flying everywhere, but the phone still worked great
*camera is decent quality for VGA
----

CONS
*antenna cracks easily. i met 6 other people with the scp 3100 and 5 of them had the exact same problem. phone still got decent reception, though.
*vision took forever, wouldn't load a lot of my pages properly, and had a tendency to power cycle itself
*reception is sporadically poor - an echo is present, or it's difficult for each party to hear the other one. hang up and call back and the problem is gone. was more of a random problem, annoying nonetheless

***************************

overall yes, it's a good phone and worth the buy. its signal stretches out pretty far, and dropped calls were never a problem for me. don't expect to be able to do much else on it, though.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

abcphoneguy submitted this review of the Sanyo SCP-3100:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This trully is a great phone for coverage and such. But do not buy it if you want features. I bought it because i knew it would work where i wanted it to. unlike the lg's and samsungs.

because of the fact that sanyo only makes phones for sprint in the united states they divert a lot of attention to detail on sprints network (built in amp).

Pros:
1. Rugged
2. Great call quality and clarity
3. halfway decent camera

Cons:
1. No extra's
2. No power vision
3. the camera is only halfway decent.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
