brsmnky007 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This has been an extremely reliable phone for me with no real problems; I'd recommend it to anybody looking for a quality, reliable phone.

PROS:
- Reception better than my previous S/E T616 and LG L1200;
- Sound quality is very good incoming and outgoing
- Screen - large and vibrant
- Durability - phone and slider mech. has held up incredibly well
- UI - snappy and responsive, organized pretty well

CONS:
- Call volume could be louder; while out in noisy environment, it's hard to hear the caller, same for speakerphone
- Few quirky design choices, e.g. text messages can't have ring and vibrate at the same time, can't silence the phone without going into the full menu, no one-beep mode, etc.
- keypad doesn't have as much space or tactile response as one might want

In all, cons are small and nitpicky; I've been quite happy with this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

KBA submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I have had this phone since about March of last year so about a year and a half. Coming from those awful, chunky Sony Ericsson flip phones, I was very excited to be getting this sleek, very cool looking slider phone! I was the one who refused to listen to reviews on the phone just because I wanted it so badly. That's was a pretty big and costly mistake. I can not stand this phone now..

The speaker absolutely SUCKS, if you are planning on ever making phone calls, the only place you would be able to hear would probably be a dark, extremely quiet room. And that's only if you have service, because let me tell you, I don't even have service OUTSIDE! If you're a big texter, I hope you send it to the right person, because if you find out when it's sending that you messed up, you better just forget about it because that 'cancel' button to the right is just for show. You can repeatedly click and click, but it won't work. Calls drop OFTEN and when you try to press the 'end' button, it sometimes (for me, alot of times) doesn't work. I don't like how I can't personalize my text message tones, but it's not that big of a deal. But in conclusion, it's not a good phone, so just don't do it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Kgen submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I got this phone as a replacement for my old one, which was a sidekick. Despite the chick looks, colorful features, this phone was a piece of junk. I was able to hear fine at first, but as I started using it, I had to keep asking "Can you hear me now?" also, I have a tendency to talk to people for long periods of time, and this phone literally drops my call about 20 times within the conversation. Also, the reception for this phone is horrible, I always seem to have one bar, even though I live right next to At&t. The battery life is pretty much nothing. My old phones had lasted about 3 days before the battery ran out, while this one was about a day before it needed to be charged again.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I dont have many complaints about this phone. I got this phone for my birthday and I was blown away by how clear the screen was.

Pros: Beautiful screen display
cool default backgrounds
You can set it so when you slide it up it makes a noise.
GREAT FOR TEXTERS
Overall A FABULOUS phone
Excellent speakerphone
The keypad tone can change to a xylophone and you can play songs just typing away on the keypad.
Cool white color

Cons:The picture quality aren't too great after a while.
The video time is a bit short, but you can set it to record longer.
Not too many complaints.

What can I say I love this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

carterman submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Overall I really enjoyed using / owing this phone. For me, it really *looks* cool. The voice dialing works great and the camera is decent. Reception with AT&T in Connecticut is terrific (very few dropped calls). I depended on the wake up alarm on many business trips. A 1 Gig microSD card (upgrade, the phone did not come with this) let me carry all the music / pictures / video I could want.

I was disappointed with the low speaker and ear piece volume. In a car, I would have to turn on the speaker phone, adjust the volume all the way up and hold it to my ear to hear. The lack of support for high bit rate mp3's was also a bit annoying. Proprietary headphone jack is just a shameless way for the manufacturer to make a few extra bucks.

The phone lasted about a year and a half before I got the "White Screen of Death". When this happened the phone was still usable to make and receive calls, but the display was totally worthless. I treat my phones fairly well and was surprised to find the internal display ribbon chewed up (Yeah, I took it apart to see what went wrong).

When will A&TT, et all figure out we want wifi (with out a data plan), bluethooth, high call quality, a decent camera and non-proprietary extras like headphone jacks? No need to answer that, I think we all know the answer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There were no adverse effects.(this is NOT suggested use)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

smac submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I really wanted to get a chocolate phone but the sales guy at the store talked me out of it and said he had so many returned because they stopped working. Little did I know less than a year later my Samsung stopped working. It was exactly 11 months. let me tell you I took VERY good care of this phone. I maybe dropped it 3 times in the year that I had it. One day I picked it up to use it and found it frozen on the title screen which shows the type of phone it is. This really suprised me since I have always had Samsung phones and been satisfied with them.
Here are the pros and cons of this phone:

Pros:
I usually had great service although I dont know if I should contribute that to the phone or to Rogers.
It comes with the software so that you can hook the phone up to your computer and upload photos and songs very easily.
It is a nice looking phone
Never turned on on its own in my purse or pocket unlike other phones I have had in the past.

Cons:
The screen stays lit up when you are charging it. I hated this because I always charged it at night.
Sometimes it would freeze and you have to take the battery out to restart it.
To add pictures or special ringtones to certain callers is VERY confusing and near impossible to figure out.
The clock that is on the Idle display is so big that it covers most of any type of background you may have on your screen.
The phone doesnt hold very many songs unless you buy a MicroSD card which is like an additional $100 at walmart.

Honestly after having this phone for about a year I was pretty sick of it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pn0yvstyle submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I got this phone as an upgrade from my old Motorola V400 and I was impressed when I got it. It had neat features and it was definitely a reliable and stylish phone. I had this phone for almost 2 years and so far it has been good to me but there are some drawbacks from me giving this phone a perfect score. So here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
-Stylish
-decent size memory storage
-decent battery life
-easy access to menu and other stuff
-loud speaker
-good sized phone for travel
-easy slider

Cons:
-phone's reception unstable
-phone freezes from time to time
-navigation buttons are a bit small
-non-customizable text msgs tones
-only one input for both battery charger and headset

Like mentioned in the cons, the phone freezes from time to time. Just recently, it froze and erased all my numbers! The reception on the phone is bouncy and its not the area I'm in or the service (compared to my girlfriend's phone). There are other minor stuff to but other than that, the phone has been good to me. I am looking at to replace this phone soon. If you are looking for a good Samsung phone, this would be one to consider.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I bought a new cable off ebay and installed it --- phone works like a charm, for now. Despite the fact hat the phone is less than a year old ATT would not honor warranty claiming it had gotten wet.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I use my phone ALOT. I'm talking a little over 5000 minutes on a easy billing cycle. I normally have close to 10000 minutes a month though. I talk to my g/f for hours at a time! I get 6 or 7 hours out of this battery for sure, and it might even be longer but I know for sure its 6 or 7 hours. I've had the phone over a year now. this is my 3rd phone...the first one I leaned on it with it in my pocket and broke the screen. the 2nd was a refurbished phone to replaced the one I broke the screen on. That phone did what one of the reviewers talked about where the screen went white. So that is why I have had 3 of these phones. placed phone. I have always liked flip phones and this was my first slide phone and I think it was a great phone. I'm looking at new phones now only cause I'm eligible for an upgrade. The only thing you need to watch for on this phone is the large screen. It can be broken (like any screen) if you press or lean something against it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

V Inc. submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

So i bought this phone when it was fairly new on the now defunct Cingular. Now it doesn't work anymore! Making a list of PROS and CONS won't be necessary. Let me just give a warning about what MIGHT happen to your phone:

The vibration will stop working. I use it when I'm at church or a movie theater which means it's on vibrate at least once a week. I don't think i'm overusing it.

The screen will start to disappear. When I slide it up/down, it took a few sec for the screen to appear. Eventually the screen turned pure white. I've googled this problem. Apparently, the ribbon tape which makes the phone slide becomes worn out thus causing the display to malfunction. You can buy the ribbon tape to fix it yourself which I planned not to do. It's cheaper than getting it repaired (after 1 year, Cingular/AT&T/POS cannot help you. They direct you to Samsung to have it fixed. $$$) BUT it's also risky.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Phone is simply AMAZING. Has gone through the WASH twice, and through a thunderstorm, and still works, flawlessly, Ive dropped it from probably 8 ft in the air, nothing happens, the phone is EXTREMELY durable. definitely recommend it to anybody thats a fan of sliders, battery life is GREAT, its only died on my ONCE, in 1.5 years of owning it, reception almost never dies, except where there is no cell towers. Phone is simply amazing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Sooooo i listed my truth also to confirm my opinion.

1. The Con: "Short battery life"
THE TRUTH: The battery hasnt died on me yet, and i use my phone ALOT
****ANOTHER TRUTH: I don't use mine ALOT and still goes DEAD!hmmmm

2. The Con: "Phone does not get any reception"
THE TRUTH: I think people need to check their service areas.
****ANOTHER TRUTH: I checked 5 of my other friends, same place, same carrier.I had 1 bar or no signal. One bar ends up droped.hmmmm

3. The Con: "Ear Piece and Ringer are not loud, very quiet"
THE TRUTH: Ringer is loud and easy to hear, and so is the ear piece, i can hear everyone fine.
****ANOTHER TRUTH: Everyone has their own opinion what is loud to one is not to another hmmmmm

4. The Con: "Even if the slider moves a millimeter, it answers the phone, and if it moves a millimeter back it hangs up"
THE TRUTH: You can change the settings on *****ANOTHER TRUTH: You do need to ck settings

5. The Con: "You have to hit 2 buttons to reply to a text message,
THE TRUTH: You can hit the center navigation button to do both.
*****ANOTHER TRUTH: Middle button does most all

6. The Con: "Even when the phone ringer setting is at its lowest, when you hit a button, it makes a loud beep.
THE TRUTH: YOU CAN CHANGE THIS! *****ANOTHER TRUTH; this is correct read figure out the settings

So with all this said......it comes down to ck your settings for the physical part but get a phone with no battery and signal.... yeah great phone! WOW looks awesome, great features! Set my contact to certain ring tones. (after I figured it out a little complicated)
BUT BUT,...... the signal is HORRIFYING!!! Everywhere i go i have 1 bar!.....then it drops!!!! Always having to go through the "can you hear me now" commercial gets real old! My husband has a blackberry and the signal is great where mine is nothing. My 10 yr old has a razor and i cant pick up where he has full signal, I have an 8 yr old w/a Nokia and again i don't have the signal he has.......(yes we all have the same carrier)
Oh and the battery life.......WHATEVER!! more like 60 minutes........what good is a phone that looks awesome has features but no signal and no battery life?? This is being returned and I'm getting the new Sony W580........stay away from this phone is my suggestions. Unless you don't need a phone to talk on just to carry around and have a nice looking phone.
I rated it a one because it looks good or it would be a ZERO.

Pros:
Looks good
Ring tones for contacts great after you figure it out.

Cons:
Battery life: there is none!
Signal: there is none!
Takes a while to figure it out
Keys are very small and close together easily to hit others.
Cant use the phone to talk on cause your battery is dead all the time.
Cant use the phone to talk on cause you don't have a signal.
Frustrating phone.

You do the math on the pros and cons.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've never tried any of the music things, so I can't review those, but I do know that people are always interested in checking my phone out when I use it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I like the slider design however every once in a while I will accidentally close it on a live call. As a phone it is just ok, not great, I miss my V551 Motorola in that respect. However with all the features it is nice to have. The USB requires a special connector. One thing I do like is the NiCe LCD screen. but as a phone I think you could find better. Text messaging is a pain since the buttons are lumped together.
BOTTOM LINE:
If you are looking for a good phone look elsewhere. If you are looking for an OK phone with good features, then this is your phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sld0504 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-D807 / D806:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I always use phonescoop to check out all the info and reviews when looking for a new cell. It is hard deciding when you don't know from experience and your putting money into something you hope is great. Well I got the samsung d807 almost a month ago and i have had no problems what so ever. I wanted to write a review just for the skeptics that have read some of the negatives that are pretty important. One con was that the reception was bad. I have had other cells with bad reception like the sony Ericsson t226 and my boyfriend has had tons of motorola with bad reception. I think it just depends on your area cause i have had no problems at home, on the road, or at the office. My texts and calls go through just fine. Today i did have a problem sending a text while at the office but after a couple tries it was fine. Another con i read about was the screen cracking. Again, i think sometimes there are a few bad lemons out their cause i have already accidentally dropped my phone like 2-3 times and it hasn't gotten one crack. I dropped it on the hard wood floor so i don't know if that makes any difference. The phone does show fingerprints easily but its nothing that doesn't come off with the wipe of your t-shirt. Another con i read was the battery was awful. I once again have had no issues with the battery at all. I have pushed it as far as three days with out a charge but haven't try any longer yet. A pro- the screen is huge and so bright and colorful. I had the lg c225 sent to me when i broke my lg c2000 and samsung d807 is a million times better, but then again my lg phones were both very simple. The slider is tricky with one hand i will agree with that but if you use your thumb and grip it right then its all good. You do have to go through several menus to get to things that would normally be easily accessed but all you have to do is customize the buttons to what you want. I have not tried to download the mp3 and stuff yet but hope to soon. I thing the d807 is great!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
