So here is my review of mine, that I got later than him (4 days ago) i have a backup phone now. I currently use the Samsung Intensity, and if I went camping etc, I'll take this so my phone does not get damaged, and the att phone is set up as prepaid.<br /><br />Well enough ranting. The phone is a bit chunky, but it is really ok because it is older, and I don't carry it everday. One con is the battery. It dies off and on, and by playing with it, a couple times a day, it has to be charged every night.<br /><br />PROS:<br />PTT (I think this might be one of Cingular's only PTT phones out there besides for a Cingular Samsung i remember seeing a commercial but sorry if I'm wrong<br /><br />Camera with FLASH!<br />My current phone does not have flash, so it comes in handy. <br /><br />Print via Bluetooth:<br />Wow, I've never seen a phone that I can do that with<br /><br />One other con is that it makes some kind of dinging noise whenever I send or save something, I got it used from a friend, but is there any way to turn this noise off? It isn't fixed in silent mode, and if was in like a library the phone could be a bit of a distraction.<br /><br />There are only like 10 ringtones but a good assortment. After having for 9 or so months my daughter started having issue of the phone randomly turning off, randomly freezing up. I contacted ATT and they sent us a new one. Within a couple months she started having the same problems again but by then the phone was no longer under warranty. I had to get her another phone that was reliable. Image quality isn't great, though it does the job.<br />- Some keys need stiff pressing to respond. Not sure if this is common to other CG225s, it's just a minor annoyance.<br />- External LCD is great... but the preset background cannot be changed, and it's fugly. I mean, come on, clouds and an island? <br /><br />Overall, I don't dislike the CG225 at all. They use Tracfones for quick calls and keep them off all other time. When they turn the phones on they have to wait at least 15 -20 minutes before they can receive or make a call. There phone are fully charged and the signal bars are anywhere from 3-5 which is good signal strength. Tracfone has tried to trouble shoot this but to no success. The only way to make these phone work is to have them on or wait the 15-20 minutes and make a test call. It began to turn itself off every once in a while :( which meant u would have to restart it then i dont like how you cant create signatures..but i liked the camera. and how you could write notes and the games werent half bad.. but then having it for about a year certain keys stopped working and that was unfixable. It's definitely not the most attractive phone-in fact, it's downright ugly, but it is reliable. I've dropped this phone on hardwood floors, down flights of stairs, and accidentally put it through the washing machine, and it still functions perfectly. I've even had someone try to wrestle the phone away from me, and purposefully try to snap it in half, and it was sturdy enough to resist breaking. The camera quality isn't bad-you can change the lighting effects and convert shots to black&amp;white as well as sepia, which is standard. The buttons are large and clearly visible, the menu and options are easy to navigate through, and it has very good memory. The pre-programmed ringtones are pretty lame, and the island and clouds display on the external screen is tacky. It has amazing battery life. I can talk for five hours straight, and still have at least half battery. The menu is quite ugly, and unchangeable. There is a pool game that serves to pass time, and there is a very short Tetris demo, but in terms of games that's about it. The address book can hold many contacts, and speed-dial isn't too speedy, but aside from that, it's fine. It charges very quickly, usually returning to full battery in three to six hours, depending on whether or not you use the phone while it charges.<br />Overall, it's a great value. If you care more about practicality than looks in a cell phone, this is a great choice. I really like the concept of buying prepaid minutes and never ever losing them as long as you stay current. So the only viable cell phone company for me is Tracfone, and the phone with the most features and double minutes too happens to be the LG 255. I actually had been on this site and seen the negative comments made by some and had myself some second thoughts but made the order anyways. Two days later I had the phone and guess what? Yes, the battery would not stay charged, I had to take out battery and reinstall to make any call, and the charger kept failing. I felt like an idiot for not listening to this site and wondered why Tracfone would ever offer this crap to its users. But 10 minutes on the complaint department had an apologee, 30 extra free minutes, and a garantee it would not happen again. Lo and behold, the very next day I had a replacement Lg package( overnight express) and Wow, a perfect working, great sounding, great looking, beauty. In the two months I've had it, the reception, clarity, battery life, reliability, and signal strength, have been top notch. Camera is so so, options and ring tones are a bit limited, but hey, its a real deal for what it is- a nice, inexpensive, reliable phone. It has been a painful year because this phone is unreliable; not only mine but both and both have the same issues:<br />(1) The CG225 shuts down by itself when the battery is at 3/4, every time, no exceptions.<br />(2) It loses the network: you can see the bars, meaning that the network is in range but the phone does not display the Cingular name; you cannot call (it says Service unavailable) and receive call (ended up on the voice mail). The only solution is to stop and restart the phone.<br />(3) Sometimes (once a week) I had to remove the battery and put it back on because it freezes when the phone starts.<br />(4) It sometimes 'forgot' the phone numbers preregistered like the voice-mail number, another restart is needed.<br /><br />Well, this is not a phone I will recommend. All of these issues were not only on mine but on both phones we had. I will never take a LG in the future. I started with the LG C2000 and one day the speaker had some kind of malfunction that a person from Cingular told me was a Manufacturing error. I had it replaced through Cingular's Warranty exchange program for free. I got my next phone. It stopped recieving calls and making calls all together and text messages and would only show up when you restarted the phone. I was upset with cingular and demanded a new phone so they moved me to this phone, the LG CG225. The first one in less than a month started glitching the same way the second LG C2000 did, again not my fault. I had it replaced. This one has missed few calls and is very scratchy sounding but the Text Messaging Software lost all of it's working ability. I could not write a word. The CG225 is inferior in almost every possible way, from fit and finish to screen quality to call quality to battery life. Reminds me of when the Rabbit replaced the Beetle, for cryin' out loud. <br /><br />First of all, as others have mentioned, the fingerprint issue is a big deal. Unless you're one of those schlubs who doesn't care about the way your stuff looks, steer clear of this thing. I found myself wiping it clean every time I touched it, which, in a word, drove me bugsh*t. <br /><br />The screen looks like someone gave it the Vaseline treatment, so if you're into actually using your screen, forget about it. It'll give you a headache. <br /><br />PROS:<br /><br />+ Looks slick<br />+ Good keypad<br /><br />CONS:<br /><br />- Call quality is sub-standard<br />- Fingerprint magnet<br />- Screen quality lacks, uh, quality<br />- Somewhat heavy<br /><br />There are better offerings out there from LG. If you're in the market for a cheap phone and don't want to sign a contract, try rounding up a C2000.
