Sylmar Spartan submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

so its known that this phone is very well reviewed despite its flaws. This phone debuted in Fall 2005 so by now its mostly obsulete. There, now let me say that its such a surprise that even now in June 2008 that its Still hard to find a flip phone with a 240x320 resolution AND 262k color screen! Not to mention the speker is by far one of the Loudest & clearest I have ever hear. Now after a year and a phone my phone is breaking apart and I'm not sure it'll make it to my 2 year agreement. Its been a Really good phone coming from the mm-7400.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This is the best sanyo phone I've ever had. And I've had all the models, except a few! I wish sanyo were still making phones, because a 9000 with a 3.2 megapixel camera and the capabilities of the m1, would be the hottest phone on the market!!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The MP3 is the loudest of any phone on the market and with the most clarity. The battery life lasts at least 3 days for me which is more than enough. I was going to purchase the M1, but hesitated when the volume couldn't match the 9000.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I love sanyos call screening. That is one of many features that makes this phone top dog. Personally I would rate sanyos for getting the best reception on sprints network. My 9000 works in places that other sprint phones don't. So you if you want reliability go with a sanyo phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Sliczna3 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have had almost every sprint phone and this one is by far the best. It is a great upgrade to the 5600 because it has an enhanced camera and better picture mail functions. This phone, unlike the blade (a900), gives no problems nor freezes.

PROS
-bigger screen compared to most phones
-nice blue keypad
-more scratch proof
-great speakerphone
-improved picturemail functions
-mini sd slot for files, pictures, video
[a 2gb mini sd will record 3 hours of video]
-talking caller id and text messaging
-displays WARNING sign on outer lcd when text message fails
-internet works along with uploads/downloads when phone is closed
-can control mp3s with phone closed using outer buttons

POSSIBLE CONS
-could be smaller, however I am not a manufacturer and perhaps due to all its accessories maybe that explains the size
-bluetooth

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Great reception, lots of built in storage, not to mention external SD card. I upgraded from the 5600 and my only complaint on it was the camera lens, which was improved on the 9000. I reccommend this phone to anyone who can find it.......It is RARE and HARD to find new......Just saw one on Ebay slightly used @ 350.00.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

baystatedog submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I've been a Sprint customer for years, and have always had Sanyo phones because the reception is superior to other brands (like Samsung). I decided to upgrade my phone to take advantage of the Power Vision feature, so I went over to my Sprint store and took a look at the new phones. The rep talked me out of the Sanyo, and into the Samsung A900. I got it home and all I can say is YIKES! What a piece of junk the Samsung blade is. No battery life and nothing but problems. Anyway, I went back to the Sprint store and exchanged it for the Sanyo 7500. Much better! I liked the features and reception on the 7500, but after two weeks or so, my keypad and Sprint TV stopped working. It must have been defective, so Sprint exchanged it, but for the Sanyo 9000. The 9000 puts the 7500 to shame. Not sure why Sanyo would release the 7500 after the 9000, since the 9000 does much more and is a much better phone. Alot of people complain that the 9000 is too big, but it actually feels really comfortable to use, it has substance. This phone reeks of quality!

The resolution on the screen is insane. The clarity of the calls is the best I've had yet. The battery life has been average, about the same as my old Sanyo 8100 from years ago.

If you're looking for a Power Vision phone, the Sanyo 9000 is the way to go. Unfortunately, the 9000 hasn't been available in the Sprint stores recently, not sure why. All they've had available for Sanyo Power Vision phones is the 7500. I've heard that Radio Shack still has the 9000 available, so you might want to check it out.

PROS-
Quality construction
Outstanding reception
Blazing fast internet and Sprint TV
Loud, loud, loud (Nextel loud)
Huge screen
Incredible graphics

CONS-
Wicked expensive
Hardly any accessories available
(SPRINT- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE A DESKTOP CHARGER FOR THE MM-9000)
Slightly larger size makes finding a case impossible
Power Vision costs big $$$$ per month
Sprint charges $2.50 per song (unreal!)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

destrodude submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I originally had a Sanyo 5300 which was on it's last legs. I had just bought my wife the Samsung A920 and loved the features but could not deal with the small display. So I got the Samsung A900. Beautifull phone but had serious flaws too it including battery life, reception issues(CT), terrible camera and lack of memory. I ended up returning it and now committed to go back to Sanyo. I got spoiled with the screen size of my 5300 so could not compromised with anything smaller.

I finally found the phone in Radioshack since it was discontinued by Sprint.

Pros:
Large viewing clear screen display.
Faster internal processor (A900 still faster though)
Excellent adjustability on camera and good quality.
External memory.
Incredible speakerphone. Better than A920
High quality construction and durability.
Great size easy to handle

Too many great things to mention all.

Cons:
Bluetooth like everyone else
Actual menus displays and graphics are poor compare to Samsungs.
Very limited adjustments for sound and display compared to the A900 and A920.

I am very please with the phone and there is nothing more reliable out there for me right now. There are things that I definetely miss about the A900 but I need a good long lasting reliable phone and this Sanyo is a winner.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Humdizzle submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Every time I get a new Sanyo, it re-assures me of their quality. Coming from a Sanyo 5600, the 9000 is a warranty swap for my 5600 that went bad (sounds like a contradiction, but you'll have to trust me on this one).

Some very nice upgrades to this model. I don't live in an EVDO coverage area yet, so I can't comment on that.

Screen is pretty, MP3 player works flawless, w/ pause/play and next track buttons on the outside, speakerphone is much improved. Music store is cool. A few small things that make a big difference were also added, such as the talk key bringing up redial list, but if you hold it down it will activate the voice activated feature. Very nice.

No bluetooth, but I have a feeling the next model will have it. All in all, the best phone I have owned to date.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Songstress submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have owned 2 Samsung phones and 3 Motorola phones and this phone is the best. I would NEVER BUY a motorola phone or a Samsung phone again. They are WAY OVERRATED!!! Both Motorola phones and Samsung phones drop calls like its going out of style and the battery is a piece of trash!!! The Sanyo MM-900 very fast and it has so many capabilities, more than any of the other phones that I've owned. The speakerphone is loud and clear and I have NOT dropped a call since I've owned this phone. It takes beautiful pictures and the internet access is on point and fast. Its too bad that it is going to be discontinued. This is the best cell phones I've ever owned.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Jonathanlc2005 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Let me tell ya, i work selling sprint phones and i looked at every phone out there and the 9000 really attracted me. the bulkiness of it felt very sturdy and safe enough to drop a few times without damage. the camera on it is unbelieveable to other phones. the camcorder is fast. the speaker phone is very well done and loud enough to leave it upstairs and still hear it. The QVGA screen makes the picture appear "high-definition" compared to others. theres voice command and walkie talkie. The power vision is very fast and very real TV quality. you can put your own songs on the miniSD and play it as an Mp3 player. there is nothing negative about this phone and im glad my co-workers are jealous cause of my phone.

the 9000 screams quality and durabilty. i do recommend the $6/mo warranty because of the price of the phone but really one of the best to stay for some time.

oh and bluetooth is nothing to this anyways. if i needed it i would get an adapter but with the loud speakerphone and the speaker earbuds, who needs another tool to waste your battery.

one other mention the battery life is very good, with TV so far i stopped at 1 hour and still had atleast full battery life. so get yourself soon before they discontinue it

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cutter2668 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I didnt buy this phone and here's why....Its been discontinued for one and secondly, its not easy to grip, the size is fine, the new hinge is great, signal reception and speaker, all great. The memory card and mp3 functions are a bit much.
Unlike others, I dont wail on sanyo for not having bluetooth, ive tried it on the samsung phones and frankly, bluetooth sucks so its absence on sanyo is not heart breaker or deal breaker to me. Bluetooth has NEVER, NEVER EVER, lived up to its promises which is why I fail to understand why people gripe about it, some even complain about not having it, then state they dont even use it anyways. The camera is a great improvement over previous models but again, a feature that baffles me, people gripe about this alot and to those that do I say spend four hundred dollars on a digital camera, not on a cel phone. EVDO is fast, but expensive and not worth it, the lcd qvga screen is very nice and big, great job sanyo. By the way, in addition to the high price of power vision you have to pay extra for sirius and other visual programming, add that all up and you could have broadband service on you r computer. Which do you wanna watch tv programs on? A tiny cel phone or a computer screen? I think we all know the answer here.
The memory card is nice, I wont bother with MP3, IF sanyo, Sprint, or other companies want to make a cel phone with better camera and mp3/pda functions, clearly another type of powercell is needed as these extra features eat up the battery rather quickly taking away from its truly great function as a speakerphone/cel phone. Sadly Sanyo models are being discontinued on a rather short cycle, this phone just came out in October and in January only Radio Shack seems to carry them, for this reason, I cannot recommend this phone, its short life means there will most likely be NO extended battery or other acessories made for it. For now I'll be waiting like others to see what Sanyo is hopefully coming out with.....

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

fffrrrmmm submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Received the phone from Radio Shack last week. Interestingly, the sprint store less than a mile away did not have one in stock, nor any plans to get any. Radio Shack was also a user of the phone and let me try it out before I bought it - pretty cool. My observations so far:
1 - Very good battery life so far. I let the battery fully discharge completely before recharging it as recommended by rep. I get about 3-4 hours talk time - more than enough for an average user.
2- Excellent reception - got clear signal reception in Walmart - first time ever!!!!
3- So - so camera/video at max resolution - not impressed by either of them.
4 - Somehat larger than expected, but Im 6'-2" so the size doesnt bother me
5- Great looking phone/feeling phone.
6 - Easy to use and navigate menues.
******** Only Con ********
No Bluetooth !!!!!!!!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

burrito75 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-9000:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I knew this phone was big, but after using it for a day, I just can't get past how slippery and how uncomfortable it is to carry around and talk on and I'm a big guy. This thing feels cheap and it is slippery. That's it...the only bad I have to say about it but I can't get past it so I'm gonna take it back and try a blade.

Positives:

Awsome screen and super fast internet coming from a 7400.
Pictures look good on the website after uploading,
User interface is better with easier access to multiple numbers in a name in speed dial slots.
Ringer is even clearer and louder than the 7400 if that is possible

oh well. Sanyo's are great and evdo is awsome. can't go back, but looks like i'm gonna be stuck trying samsung for now or maybe the 7500.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
