Kellis1 submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

This phone replaced my Motorola MPx 220. I have not been satisfied with this phone from day 1. Its got all the same features, however the arrangement of the buttons make this phone extremely difficult to navigate. It also has very poor reception, this means I could be on the phone driving down the road and dropped calls just keep happening. With the button on the side that activates plane mode, it makes it way to easy for accidental plane mode while the phone rests in my pocket. what this does is turn the phone reception completely off while still allowing you to use the "smart" features of the phone. So I'm moving along through out my day and when I go to check my phone, its "off".... As a business owner with calls from clients being a top priority this is not a good thing. My voicemail does some "fuzzy politics" as well. At times it will indicate that I have a voicemail when in fact I do not. Or it will not display that i have a voice mail when i do. Further more the menu scroll button is a round toggle type button. After accessing the menu you use the navigation button "the button just mention in the previous sentence" to scroll through the options. to access the option you want you simply press directly down on the scroll navigation button, this is stupid. I always end up in the wrong folder because it is hard to "scroll" with out pressing down the button. I HATE this, it wastes so much time. The power button is on top of the phone which is somewhat hard to press. the phone takes way to long to start up, and it does not always start up correctly. Yes this means that it performs horribly upon some start ups and must be restarted to operate normally. the camera is one of the worst I've seen, it does not have a flash and does not do well in low light.

PROS:
Great windows mobile technology
Good sounding speaker
Long bettery life

CONS:
Horrible navigational buttons
Overall bad placement of buttons
Slow start up
Bad camera
Poor reception

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

It averages out to be a good phone.

Pros:
Compact smartphone.
WM5 OS.
Bubble Breaker
Nice camera.
No limit to video recording.
Many programs can be downloaded to it.
CAN do MMS, unlike my former MPx220.
Takes Mini SD cards, which are cheaper.
Windows Media Player plays excellently.

Cons:
Dropped calls in my house. Whether it's the sim or this phone, who knows?
19MB of internal memory [I always have a memory card, but still..........]
No wi-fi {Blame at&t on that one. It's cousin, the T-Mobile SDA [which is my other line] does.}
Very fickle keypad [I have to tect on it very slowly and ALWAYS lock the keys].
Low battery.
If I get a text, and a song is the rigntone, it goes FOREVER!!!!!!!!

For what it is, it's nice. However, it sucks for what it's not; yet it'll do until I get an 8525 or wing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Hookem submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I'm not a big fan of this phone, but I must admit it does have its value points. In fact, I read some other reviews first and find myself now questioning some of my frustrations. So here are my key bullet points:

Pros:
-Great reception (Cingular/most of TX and many other states)
-Extensive info allowed, including multi phone numbers, within one contact record
-Provides 5 quick navigation buttons on Home screen (last 5 used)
-Displays upcoming tasks/calendar items on Home screen (easy reference)
-Power button actually offers some cool, quick access features - i.e. key lock, volume settings, flight mode, etc.
-Camera is decent, but I can't seem to easily transfer pics via USB - must email individually.

Cons:
-Key Lock doesn't hold. Major frustration! A device lock option can be used instead but that requires typing a 4 digit code each time to access the phone. Nuts... I'm always finding that the phone creates new Contacts (named ****) that I later have to delete or clear the active screen.
-Some dropped calls
-Sometimes doesn't hang up
-Choose a number in history and dialing never gets anywhere, i.e. it seems to get lost in la la land...start over or reboot.
-Battery life poor, I recharge every night
-I can get email via MS Exchange Server but can't read emails from my co-workers sending from this server - that stinks.

Like I said - love/hate relationship.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

maxx233 submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I'm an IT professional, I'm used to getting down and nerdy with my toys, and I usually love new gadgets. That said, this phone has been the biggest pain in the [...] since I got it 3 months ago.

Within the first 30 days a problem came up that I now have come to find is a known issue. The phone will display "searching..." for carrier, although it has a perfectly good signal - up to 5 bars. Basically what this means is, although the phone should work great it's rendered useless - can't dial in, can't receive calls, no data connection, etc. If you go into cingular and force them to replace the SIM card it'll start working again, with no guarantee for how long. They'll likely try to get out of it saying that's not what the problem is, but be persistant - *that's what the problem is* ;) This happened *twice* over my thanksgiving weekend - thanksgiving day it was down and out for about 8 hours but managed to come back around 10pm (it usually won't ever come back.) Today it finished what it started thursday. For more info on this issue see here: http://smartphonethoughts.com/forums/printview.php?t=10344&start=0&

I can't have my phone non-op, I rely heavily on it for work, personal, and emergencies (I have no home phone.) So I finally caved in and did a ROM update tonight, the supposed fix for this problem. It worked for about an hour without showing "searching...", but now my phone won't even boot, it gets stuck at the cingular splash screen.

Other problems with this phone: WM5 is a laggy piece of [...] - If you txt quickly, this will most definately screw that up for you. Hit '4' 3x to get an "I", and you'll probably get a 4. This is *not* because the hardware keys weren't pressed well, too much, or consistantly enough, trust me. The whole UI in general is very laggy, and tries to be *too* "smart", putting things in inconsistant locations, making it impossible to operate without constantly checking what it's registering. Do not want.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

JimS submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Here are some of the more valuable things i really like about the 2125. Cingular came thru with the $150 rebate. I only very rarely drop calls, and generally its the distant end with the problem. The Blue-Tooth is very clear with my Plantronics 640E, has great audible feedback with voice tag dial out, and is consistently successful in dialing the right PhNo. I can say "Voice Recorder" and easily launch and record audio ToDo reminder clips. Say "Work Voice mail", it dials in sends the extension and passwd and retrieves my voice mail on the system at work as i drive with zero hassle pressing any keys. I like the fact I can listen to good stereo MP3 music or podcasts, and have the BTooth going at the same time, but unplugged and when an incomng call comes in it pauses the WM player and Resumes as I end the BlueTooth Phone call. The Active Sync keeps ALL my contacts, Calendar appointments and ToDo Lists up to date at Home and work all the time. A 2Gig miniSDMem card actually works with over 1.9MB available and I sync all my Photo's MP3's to the Stoarge card very easily without wasting Phone Memory. I have a couple extra add-on Aps running and and still have 10Mb or free RAM on the phone. Its very small and light and fits easily in the belt clip in front, not at the side where other phones caught on things, and I'm a big guy at 250 lbs. Only complaint: dialing an un-voice tagged No at night in he dark on those tiny keys is not possible, and certainly NOT safe in a car while driving..so I have to voice tag almost every PhNo.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The INTERNET is pretty fast and the screen is nice and large with a great resolution. The only thing i didn't like about the phone was that the speaker phone was not loud at all, battery life was great and the reception was incredible, i got more service with this phone than any other phone. Great Phone!!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

miershpedankl submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I've had many phones and carriers, but I recently dipped into the Smart Phone category and I like the size vs capability of these phones. Particularly I like the 2125, but I have some issues. Here are my thoughts...

Pros:
- Easy to use
- Decent camera for my use
- Good sound quality
- Screen size & Quality
- Expandable memory
-

CONS:
- Middle button doesn't want to cooperate when I am using it to navigate and I won't be surprised to see it fall off one of these days
- NO WIFI -- c'mon Cingular, the T-mobile version has it!!!
- If screen is "locked" sometimes when I push a button to answer the phone it just hangs up
- Only 1 alarm setting
- Fickle mini usb plug, won't charge unless you have just the right plug (i think it's an HTC conspiracy! :))
- MiniSD slot under battery
- T9 always generates "th3" when I am trying to type "the" (that really gets annoying)

I like this phone, but I readily get the TMobile unlocked version if I could justify it. Otherwise it is a pleasure to use. :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Everyone that I knew that had had one said what a great phone it was. I never bothered to ask why they no longer had it. I enjoyed the screen and the MSN mobile thing...That was about it. I only had the phone for 2 days but I knew it wasnt for me or my line of work.

PROS

Beautiful screen
Easy manuvering

CONS

Buttons are WAAAAAY too small for someone with not so skinny fingers. I kept hitting random buttons.

Couldnt get the bluetooth to pair with ANY bluetooth item i owned

VERY limited space for downloading like... anything

Did I mention the buttons?

I give it a 2.5 but nothing more. I have owned it for about 2 months and the only problem I have had with it is not even the phone, its the cingular wireless service. They claim to have the least dropped calls, but I am having to call back clients at least 5 to 6 times a day, but regardless, the phone is absolutely brilliant.

PROS:

Small, great big bright screen, Windows Mobile 5.0, MP3 as ringtone.

CONS:

The speakerphone is NOT loud at all.

thrudacus submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I have found that most phone reviews are made soon after the phone is purchased/acquired and the "newness/excitability" puts a bias in the review. I have been using this phone for the last 7 months. This is what I find:

Good phone, but on the expensive side:

Phone can be slow to respond. I recommend rebooting your 2125 often. Also go to Task Manager and "stop all" applications. Do this twice, since it will display more free memory on the second time.

Many people who I am talking to have reported not hearing me clearly. I have never been told this when using other devices. I believe the sensitivity of the mic and how I naturally position the phone is the culprit

Text and email message alerts cannot be interrupted by pressing a key. This may be more of my lack of knowledge, but I have not been able to find a way to resolve this. Example: setting the alert/ring tone for a text message and email to a 30 sec tone, the phone will play the full tone, you cannot interrupt it by pressing a key.

Dropped the phone and now the 7 button is hard to press

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

SockMonkey submitted this review of the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday):

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This is my first smartphone after years and years of Nokias. In comparison to the phone it's replacing, the Nokia 6230, in many ways it's not much of an upgrade. Nokia gives away free software that syncs outlook contacts and calendars much as this phone does..just this is REAL Outlook...frankly, I don't notice the difference. The only nice thing (when it works) is Cingular XPressMail. You set it up on your desktop and it forwards mail to your device. I had mixed results with this app. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't do anything. First time it actually worked, I was like "Oh...this what everyone talks about (getting email on your phone)"

It sounds like I don't like this phone, but I do...it's just that comparing a Microsoft Smartphone with a Series 40 Nokia is in some ways not fair. The Nokia is made to be a phone above all, where this 2125 is made to do a lot of things. Windows on a phone is still a little clunky...it takes extra clicks to do basic things. My basic issues with this phone is that maybe I'm not used to a phone trying to be so many things that aren't calling related.

If you like smartphones...I'd say this is the one for you..it's got it all. I on the other hand am beginning to discover that I DON'T like smartphones. Just personal preference, not the phone's fault.

Pros: great screen, small size, small weight. Good reception. Pocket Outlook, Pocket MSN, Cingular XPressMail (when it works) service and bluetooth status lights.

Cons: center joystick is very touchy, small buttons, not as intuitive as Nokia. very slight background hiss on calls, speakerphone not that loud. Cingular XPressMail(isn't all that reliable)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have tried to set up voice connect with Cingular with no luck. After being on the phone with them for 3 hours they told me they had changed the website address and my password and to wait for a text msg telling me my new password. That was 3 hours ago and I am still waiting!
The CD that comes with the phone experienced problems and The Cingular store told me to shut it down so I don't know all the ins and outs of the phone. I could not use the Active Sync on the CD either. I have read a lot of pros on this phone but so far that is all I know about it. Any ideas?
Pros
I own a phone
Cons
You know what I think

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I love the great speaker-phone and the edge on the 2125. And size does matter a bunch. The SX66 was way to big. I don't have to worry about loosing the darn pen anymore.
So far the 2125 has been a great phone with no cons.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
