jeff1745 submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had my LG C1500 for about three years now, and have had very good luck with it. I live in a small town where cellular coverage is spotty in certain areas, but my C1500 works well just about anywhere I use it.

Pros: 1. As my subject line says, this is a great phone if all you want or need is a basic cellular phone without an overabundance of frills. The Internet access feature is good to have, but I haven't used it on my phone too much except for occasional free text messaging and to enter "yellowbook.com" -- AT&T's online white/yellow pages directory -- into my favorites menu. I also like the calendar, which I just began using tonight (just entered an upcoming appointment). I may never forget my appointments again with this, especially if I have the alarm enabled.

2. Reception quality is excellent, even in my small town. Call quality (tx/rx) is excellent as well, as well as the sound of the ringtones.

3. This phone is very nearly indestructible. I had it with me about five years ago when I had a serious fall in which I hit the ground face first, and the phone hit the ground when I did. I was expecting that the phone would be seriously damaged or even destroyed, but to my surprise and amazement, it wasn't -- not even a scratch! (I had it in a case on my belt, which is probably, even likely, what saved it.) The phone has worked flawlessly ever since, as if it had never been subjected to that jolt.

4. Battery life is excellent. I don't use my phone except for emergencies or if my landline goes down, so it doesn't get much use. The battery often goes weeks in this condition, and still holds a charge, even after five years (still the original battery pack).

Cons:
I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for an entry-level cell phone with few bells and whistles. I have a digital camera, so don't need it in a cell phone. The Internet access is slow, but it does work if you're patient.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Cell phone lover_Hayden88 submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

What can I say? This phone has got problems... I'll start with my pros...

Pros-

>Good call quality
>small and lightweight, always a plus
>Basic interface that is easy to navigate around, a pro for some but a con for others who would like a more complex phone
>pretty much INDESTRUCTABLE! I threw it down a REALLY steep hill 1 time cause I was mad and it opened and hit the ground and didn't break

cons

>The thing that REALLY bugged me about this phone was that sometimes when people called me my phone wouldn't ring and would go strait to voicemail and the only way to fix that is to restart the phone(which I hardly ever do), I could be unreachable for days at a time and have absolutely NO idea!
>keys are HORRIBLE for texting, they are almost completely unresponsive (t9 doesn't help at all if that's what you were thinking)
>ringtones that come with the phone are stupid and you can only download like 3 ringtones cause that's all the memory allows for (definately NOT a media phone)
>no camera
>cheap look and feel
>you cant download text message tones for text message alerts and all of the alerts that come with the phone are horrible
>small and low quality screen

Conclusion: basic phone with some major problems. If you want a cheap phone that can make/receive calls then this might be the phone for you, but don't put all your trust in it, have a backup phone and restart it every once in a while ;) hope this helped

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Robert S. submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I am cellular retailer and i sell this phone because it is a very nice phone. It is unfair to compare this to anyting like a razr or rokr. Because they are different tiers of phones.
This phone is a starting level phone and most only be compared to itself and similar. For buyers i would strongly suggest not listening to any of these people complaining about disfunctional phones. These are flukes and no phone is perfect, those people just dont know what to do when they come past one of those mistakes, also they are saying what is good for them not what is good about the phone. Now to the phone

PROS:
Nice screen
Nice Size small but the buttons arent to small
Ringers are average, could be a little louder to accomadate those who work in busy cities
Nice price, i sell mine for about $50 looks like new
Speaker is helpful but again could be a little louder. I suppose when compared to a NEXTEL phone it is week, but LG's are Nextel phones.
Reception is very nice, Tri-band so it will work in other countries as well

Cons:
I guess the only con i can really tell you is the color, the color doesnt suit me, but thats just me. I suppose if you have big hands or have a hard time seeing or dealing with little screens this phone is not for you, other then that it is a very nice phone.

I would suggest this phone to most people, especially if your phone breaks in the middle of a contract and you dont feel like givin up your hard earned money, this phone is a hard little worker, and suits most very well.Thank you for reading a honest review from a honest seller!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I've owned it since march of 06, and it is being replaced for the second time.

Pros:
Lightweight

Cons:
HORRID battery life
Great ringers (if you're never in a noisy enviorment!)
Freezes up alot

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I thought it was the most pointless cell phone ever created. It had zero bells and whistles and wasn't attractive at all. However after a few months of fighting with the fact that I was stuck with this phone for the next year, I realized that I got what I payed for.

Pros
-Easy to use menu options
-Shortcuts to get to option(numerical keys)
-Internet capability
-Durability
-Price
-Small design

Cons
-Boring
-Slow internet
-Text Message Inbox Capacity(30)
-Bad Games

Overall, you get what you pay for with this phone. If you only payed $20 for it, then your not going to get a top of the line cell device. With some patience, this phone can become fun and even likable

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This one I have now is already having problems with the #1 key, where you have to press it 2 or 3 times for it to punch in. Other than that I like the phone overall. It's simple enough, but I don't like the fact that when I download ringtones to it, they are kind of hard to hear. All the preset ringtones are loud, just not the ones downloaded. Why???? It's not like that on any of my friends phones, and they have downloaded the same tones from the same Cingular site....To be honest, I'm already looking forward to my upgrade in a few years...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Eiffel 65 submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This is one of the best cellphones I've owned in my life. Although it is small in size, it packs a mean punch and the pros outweigh the cons, in my opinion. Great for someone who is trying to get a basic phone with a few bells and whistles.

PROS:
-VERY lightweight
-Crystal clear display
-VERY easy-to-use menu
-Easy to flip open/closed
-Loud and clear calls (has also to do with dependable signal strength of Cingular in my area)
-Long battery life (I've went 3 days with off and on usage without charging and still held half power!)
-VERY tough and sturdy (only one scratch on the outer casing in the year and a half I've owned it.. and contrary to what jess8705 said before me in her review, she said she stepped on her phone. Of course the phone will break if you step on it!)
-Perfect "fits-in-pocket" shape
-Never have had any technical issues with it.
-EXCELLENT Internet browsing software for a phone so small (I can even access my MySpace page and check for new messages, comments, etc)
-You can save content from the Internet!!! (i.e. pictures, small-sized MP3's, animated GIF's, etc..)
-MP3 ringtones I download play loud and crystal clear, as if you were listening to a small stereo.

CONS:
-Sometimes the menu navigation gets me lost. Simple tasks sometimes get confusing.
-Although caller groups can have their own custom ringtone and icon (i.e. "Friends", "Family", etc..) you cannot let a specific contact have a custom ringtone/icon. You have to place the contact in a caller group for that to happen.
-The AIM/MSN/Yahoo! clients are basically text messaging software and also require Internet service on your plan (more a problem with Cingular than the phone) because each IM/message sent counts as ONE text message. Although I had the unlimited Internet plan with Cingular, I was only allowed 1,000 texts a month.
-Sometimes, on rare instances, the phone freezes up like a computer.
-The games included are NOT full versions and you have to purchase the full version.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

txinsp submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

When we got these phones from Cingular, we thought they were a little ugly but seemed to be well-made. My wife loved the available ringtones and the external display was nice. We went through two sets of these phones because of the awful sound quality during a call. It's hard to describe the "effects" these phones can add to a voice, but suffice it to say that this is one of the absolute worst phones I have ever used in this regard. The replacement phones offered no improvement. We bought a couple of Nokia 6010 bar phones and got rid of them since we could not convince our carrier to replace them with something else. No matter what bells and whistles a manufacturer may add to a cell phone, if it doesn't deliver on making basic voice calls it is worthless.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

phonefreak submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Ugh! What can I say about this phone! This phone is terrible. Here's a list of pros and cons.

Pros:
1) Pretty good sound quality (When it worked)
2) Nice, colorful screen
3) Small size

Cons:
1) Cut out on calls ALL the time
2) No camera
3) Ring tones are lame (but I guess that is a matter of opinion)
4) Backgrounds are pretty lame, and no ability to download or make new ones
5) Ugly gray color
6) Low battery life (i charged it every night)

I had this phone replaced 4 different times before I got the Sony Ericsson z525. That is a great phone!

Hope this review helps make up your mind if you were thinking about buying this phone. Stay away from this phone!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jess8705 submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I got this phone in March as a replacement for my LG C1300 that had finally kicked the bucket. I loved it for a while. It had far less memory than my old LG, but I liked it in every other way.

My newest complaint is how fragile the phone is. I had dropped it on the ground, it had fallen open, and I stepped on it, and it literally snapped in half. It wasn't an old phone, and it was in good condition, and now it's broken, very easily.

However, the phone had EXCELLENT service, decent battery life, and the sound was pretty good.

My main advice is that if you are a clumsy person, this is NOT the phone for you. As much as I hated my LG C1300, it was tough, and I had it for a year and a half before it stopped working. I was very disappointed in how easily this phone was broken.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

desisay submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I think this phone is great! I was looking for a basic phone that looks nice and this one fits! It is super easy to use, like the older LG 1300 nothing fancy in the operation department. It does have a speaker option that works great. It looks great! The clock and call detail on the cover of the phone is super! Most of the reviews I read were negative so I wanted to add some positive feedback from a different perspective. If you are looking for a sleek phone that is really easy to use, this is the one!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Now they promised to give me something else.

Pros: Small nice-looking shape. Nice-touching numeric keys. Front display.
Cons: Very poor reliability. Very slow. Ugly exterior design (glassy surface with a stupid-looking grid of L on it). Small navigation keys - an adults finger can easily touch two keys at a time. Menu only in pictures - try to remember them all. The navigation keys are not programmable.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

it-geek submitted this review of the LG C1500:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Overall, not a bad little phone. I agree that it's shortcomings have more to do with Cingular GSM than the hardware. Most of the time the call quality is great, but every now and again I find areas that the quality goes down, even if I appear to have decent signal strength.

My main phone for now is a Nextel i205 - which is rock solid and the call quality is always excellent. I carry this LG1500 on my wife's plan mostly so we can call each other for free.

The phone feels relatively solid (I have yet to hold a flip phone that doesn't feel a little flimsy), even with the flip open.

My only real complaint with the phone is the software. The menu structure is a pain, although there are shortcuts if you take the time to figure them out. It just feels like to have to go through 2 or more menus to get to simple options, like storing a number that you have dialed.

The one tip I find useful is that when you are looking at a listof menu options, the number of the option to get there quickly. After a while you will find yourself memorizing number sequences.

The display is bright and clear, and the small keys have a beveled front edge, and a raised separator on the middle row, which make dialing and typing without looking relatively easy. I'm not much of an IM user from my phone, but imagine that after some use you would either love or hate this keypad.

Overall, for being a phone and for the price, it's not a bad package. If you are a heavey TXT/SMS/MMS/IM user, you might look for something a little larger.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
