The build quality of this phone was somewhat better than the Nokia (the hinges didn't break) but toward the end of its life the antenna did fall off making the signal strength and call quality even worse. The interface was also a bit quirky and not very user friendly on this phone and took a bit of getting used to. I have had this phone for almost a year and it is already about to fall apart. i have tape on it so i can still use it. I am embarrassed to use it in public or let other people use it and i always have been. even before i had to put tape on it to keep it from falling apart. And often when i get a text it doesn't let me know. I will sit there and wait for a text for a long time only to open it and realize i have one for a while. The antenna protrudes and i almost have a hole in some of my pants pockets from it. The connector on the charger is long and I'm sure there is something broken in my phone from it moving around. (once i dropped it and it landed on a Kleenex box and turned off! bad...)<br /><br />the more you drop it the easier it turns off..<br /><br />if you flip it open it turns off<br /><br />poor battery <br /> - if i charge it for a good 30 mins (showing full bars) unplug it, in about a minute or 2 it will show its about dead. :(<br /><br />every time i make a call it will beep and say low battery...<br /><br /><br />im always roaming! one day ill have it sitting in one place and its fine and the next day (sitting in the same place) im roaming! I first got the Candid II in December 06 and I started having problems within the first week of it freezing when I accessed my pics or it would restart randomly, sometimes during a call. I got the phone replaced, but it still did the same thing. Then it started cycling on and off for no reason. It turned off every time I closed the phone and then it started turning off when I opened the phone.<br /><br />Don't use the camera often, but its been fine.<br /><br />I signed a two year contract and after a year the warranty expired and the phone went nuts.<br /><br />Will not buy a kyocera again. The deal part was we could all get the Candid phones for a reasonable cost I think it was $5.95 each. Since that time 4 of the five phones have been sent back. One of them 3 time and another twice and getting ready to send another back for the second time. The phones shut on and off when the cover is closed, lots of dropped calls and several times the tower has lost where the phone is. The Alltel people keep saying it is a problem with the phone and not their tower. My opinion is that these phones are horrible for the reliability and Alltel doesn't seem to care. This phone has served me good over the two years I've owned it. It was my first phone (I'm 13) so I had to get used to having a phone. After the first year I had a problem with it opening by itself in my pocket so I took it in and they replaced my phone for free. It was just that I lost everything I had including pictures, contacts, and all my easy-edge data that I payed for. The second year went perfect and it looks like the day I got it. So if you're looking for a beginning phone for your kid (or for yourself) you won't be disappointed. This was my first camera phone and for that I loved it. I am a big picture taker and I really preferred the way my pics came out on my phone rather than my friend's Sidekick II, but that's my opinion. For the six months I didn't have any problems besides the dropped calls, but lot's of time my phone dropped at the perfect times (IE in the middle of my mother's ranting) but other than that it was fine. Then again that was the first six months. Month seven my phone did an exorcist head turn.<br /><br />I can depend on my phone to drop every call at least once per conversation. I hardly ever had to press the end button because it cut off by itself. Which isn't a good thing. It got so bad I even stopped apologizing I just started telling people, "um yeah, I'm on this high quality cricket." So take that for what it's worth. You ask but what does it look like? When I first got it it was cute and simple. Not the most attractive but it was cheap and had a camera so I was like whatever. Now (you know after that whole neck roll six month's deal) I have duck tape around it to keep it closed. I found that if I tie a rubber band tightly around it sometime I can put it on the charger without it powering off. And when a guy gives me his number I try to remember it until he gets out of view then I store it so he won't see my phone. So here I am eight months later and I am changing to Helio. I rather pay that much more money just so I don't have to deal with this phone. I am actually just giving it away to either my best friend or boyfriend (yeah he was one of the ones i memorized the numbers on) Anyway if your looking for a short term phone this is it. If you want to go the long haul buyer beware. I'm happy to say that throughout all the ups and downs of this phone that it is an overall good phone.<br /><br />Cons:<br />-It will Freeze<br />-The Predictive text is strange<br /><br />Pros:<br />-Great voice quality<br />-Great reception<br />-Easy to maneuver menu<br />-The camera is pretty good<br />-Can take being dropped(but not too much)<br /><br />Some Things That Will Happen With Time:<br />-It will take roughly one year for the battery to go bad <br />-If one screw is missing it will do strange things (restart) <br />-The vibration function will go in and out if it is dropped too much<br />-The back lighting on the flip and the key pad will work some days, not some much others.<br /><br />If you take good care of this phone it will last you a long time (or even if you don't)!
