iq145 submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

i had this phone for 4 solid years... never had a problem, except for one with the service provider Virgin Mobile. They don't let your callers leave you a voicemail when you've run out of minutes with the pay-as-you-go plan. They'll tell you that the caller will still be allowed to leave a message and that you can't receive it until you fill up on minutes again, but that isn't true. i tested it myself. Anyway, it's a good phone, but only if you're looking for basic communications (when needed). Longest battery life on a single charge i've ever personally seen on a cell. Fun game in it too. "Snake". i've scored a record 2003 points and the game recalls a history and allows you to continue a game, unlike some other phones. Excellent time-passer. The phone can withstand a good drop thanks to it's tough construction. All in all, a trustworthy cellphone. Too bad VM customer service only hires people who know nothing about their (or any) cell service... or hire people who barely speak English.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

virginmobilefan00 submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

The Nokia Shorty from Virgin Mobile may I say is far more capable than what it looks. The monochrome screen may send you away but here is what is onboard:

PROS:
(+) strong structure: this phone is meant to last ( like a lot of Nokias I have seen)
(+) EXCELLENT battery life
(+) Downloable Real Music ringers from Virgin Xtras
(+) FAST menu system
(+) flashlight, nice feature if you need to see a keyhole at night.
(+) basic, easy to use
(+) voice dialing and shortcuts
(+) small

CONS:
(+) menus are a little bit of a hassle, which requires lots of scrolling
(+) keypad layout is a little awkward
(+) memory for ringtones is very limited
(+) dust-magnet, attracts lots of dust

** Despite the cons, I believe this is one of the best handsets Virgin Mobile has put out.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

dmarkson submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I have had the phone for about six months. It's been OK, but below my expectations for Nokia.

Pros:
Price is very good (free with airtime purchase although Virgin has since changed that to new accounts only)

Size is good (small)

Earpiece volume and clarity is good.

Visibility in the sunlight is good

Cons:

RF is fair. Compared to the 2126, the 2115 has poorer reception. My previous Slider v5 and P8767, both operating on Sprint, outperformed the RF on this phone. I live in a fair/weak signal area, and the phone will cut out and drop calls far more than my previous phones.

Speakerphone is fair. It is not as loud nor as clear as the 2126. I would have expected them to be equal.

Battery life is fair. After less than one day battery is down almost half (with little to no use). You would think it would last easily for several days. Yes, I live in a fair/weak signal area, so that comes into play.

Standard Nokia phone programming and field test has been disabled by the Virgin customizations.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ShiningStar submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

My shorty phone just died a week ago and I miss it. I didn't use it that much so all the extra features that were NOT on it (ie camera, flip lid, etc.) were not necessary for me.

Hands down the best feature of the phone is the flashlight! I got so many compliments and it was more useful than I would have ever thought when I first bought the phone.

I've been looking around for another fairly cheap phone and can find ones with all the bells and whistles, but its so hard to find other phones w/flashlights.

I miss the little light, and the phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

niki5555nyut submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone, although very basic and very cheap, is very reliable for me. The battery lasts forever, up to a week in standby with a lot of game playing and text messaging. The navigation is very, very easy, if a bit dull. I have yet to find a better texting device other than a QWERTY phone. Sound quality was pretty good and the signal is much stronger than that on my Kyocera. The plastics fit together well and is definitely better made than the Nokia 6030. I like how it is also very compact and it comes in a nice Carolina Blue ( even though I am now in Birmingham ).

Now the games. Although they are in black and white, they( all three )are extremely addicting. Snake II needs no introduction. Kart racing is like Mario Kart, where you can drop oil slicks and use boosts to win. Space Impact II is like Galaga, where you shoot other space objects. And with Virgin Mobile's great service options, this phone is the perfect device for anyone that doesn't need a camera

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

anita submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I got this phone to replace a Kyocera K-9 and K-10. The batteries for both of those phones were not lasting even a day with no usage.

The Nokia Shorty gets a much better signal where the K-9 and K-10 would barely find any signal. Voice quality is better, too. The battery lasts much longer, I can go several days without charging, instead of having to plug-in every night.

The Nokia has a very simple interface, and it's easy to use and add contacts, etc. There are a few things I would change if I could, for instance, a "list view" for menus instead of showing one item per page.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

GravityFails submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I like Virgin Mobile's practice of naming phones instead of relying on the traditional manufacturer's numeric nomenclature. It's easier to remember something like "Razr" or "Slice" instead of 2115i or PCS-1400. Although I have no idea what the name "Shorty" is supposed to denote (is the 2115i aimed specifically at young women?), but either way it's cuter than hell.

Don't let the name fool you. In spite of the fact that the Shorty is low on features (no camera, no MP3 player, grayscale screen, etc.), it grabs and holds on to a signal like nobody's business. This is the pit bull of the Virgin lineup. It works well, so of course they discontinued it.

PROS:

+ Super strong reception
+ Simple yet elegant Nokia interface
+ Solid construction; no creaks
+ Lightweight, low-profile
+ Flashlight
+ Good battery life

CONS:

- No standard 2.5mm headset jack
- Messaging menu is difficult to navigate, requiring at least eight button presses in order to even begin typing

I understand that people want more from their phones these days, such as picture messaging and superphonic ringtones, but as far as making and receiving calls, the 2115i simply cannot be beat. I live on the outskirts of nowhere, and the Shorty beat the pants off the Snapper, the Slice, the Oyster, and especially the Royale in terms of reception.

If you're considering signing up with Virgin Mobile, get yourself one of these babies from the VM website before their backstock dries up.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sergatnyu submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I bought three of these phones in August, one for myself, one for my wife and one for my daughter.

The unit is well designed and feature robust for the price. It supports text messaging, downloadable games and ring-tones, and a bunch of enhanced services. It's easy to slip into a pocket or purse. I don't have to use a "holster" anymore. The battery life is long. With our usage patterns, we can go a whole month between recharges.

As I said, I have THREE of these phones and have not experienced the "auto shut-off" problem that some other folks talked about. But then, I actually read the manual to avoid "operator errors".

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Service is also excellent on Sprint's 1900 mhz network.
Not only the phone is extremely easy to operate but it also has some very high quality features that other basic/cheap Nokia phones lack.

PROS:
-Menu and phone operation is very fast
-Very nice ringtones of very high quality
-The best speaker phone I ever heard on any cell.
-Easy to navigate menu (Noka+)
-Solid sound quality
-Nice Flash light

CONS:
I really can't find any cons here!

alex78nycc submitted this review of the Nokia 2115i / 2116i / Shorty:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I've been using this phone for the last six months and I must say that not only it is a very simple phone without B.S. megapixels and B.S. MP3 players, but also a very high quality phone.

PROS:
-Great monohrome screan (finally we can see a screan in a sunlight)
-Great batterry life (thanks to non-color monohrome screan again!!!)
-The best speaker phone of any cell. phones ( Very loud, Very smooth and lovely)
-Excellent sound quality

CONS:
No Bluetooth
If it would take Nokia to price the phone $50 extra for a built in bluetooth chip , than it whould have been in this phone $100 would be still a great price for this phone!
Bluetooth has to do with convinience and quality of phone conversation, so it must be in every phone today.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
